Most of the teachers and staff I come across work so hard for how much they get paid. For this reason, I feel like you can really tell that they care about their students and are not there for the money. The campuses are kept fairly clean and look really nice, especially gardens with its recent glow up. I also just love the atmosphere of the library there as well. Yes, you will have your occasional frustrating professor or unhelpful advisor, but that's normal and happens everywhere. Palm Beach State is so affordable and has kept their tuition costs low in comparison to rising inflation rates and insanely high costs of living. You get what you pay for, but also so much more if you find a way to get involved. The opportunities to grow are definitely here, you just really have to have the time and apply yourself. After being here for 2 years, I can confidently say PBSC is the perfect steppingstone for any ambitious person seeking higher education. If you are unsure of your major or what you want to do, please come here. You get exposed to a little bit of everything for cheap. My biggest tip is to interact with the professors and advisors. Most are so kind and have so many connections that will help take you further. Overall, it's a great school. It has as grown and gotten so much better since covid and is worth it. read more

The registration process is ridiculous- getting to an advisor impossible and getting there online courses through the Canvas system is not user friendly. Had to verify by phone 3 times just for a non- credit course. Overly burdensome - I understand the need for authentication and security but I'm not applying for the FBI. Some of the professors at this school could give two cares less about the success of the students, as a veteran. I went here twice now and regretted it both times this school let me walk across the stage, thinking I was graduating only to find out that I've failed a class And it took them six months to figure out why I wasn't getting my degree. The Professor didn't even let me know that I failed his class... Until six months later whenever I had to call him, I would not recommend this college to anyone because once they get you to sign the paper good luck getting a hold of anybody for guidance without feeling like you were bothering them, especially whenever it comes to math. Yessssssss!!!! Say yes to education whatever your age is. Being my thirties I was scared to go back to school but with covid, online classes are amazing. You have teacher support and they set up zoom meeting ups if you have extra questions. I love all my classes this semester and took a few in the summer. Only advice the college to open up more classes because things fill up quick with science courses. This is a great college for community college and the professors are experts in their field. Love being a lifelong student and know that education is knowledge. And money is never wasted on knowledge. So take a class or two to open up the mind. ~ read more

I left a review about the Admissions process for this school about 5 months ago, explaining that it was quite literally the most infuriating process of my academic life. As unfortunate as it is, I chalked up my negative experience to the fact that I wasn't a student yet and they hadn't received any of my money yet. After completing my first semester at PBSC, and re-enrolling in my second semester, it's safe to say that it has gotten NO better! Not only did I have Professors apologizing to my class about how poor staff/website is, BUT I received full credit on an assignment simply because MY advisor never answered me! My assignment was to email my advisor asking questions about the upcoming term and submit the responding email. I submitted a screenshot of my unanswered email in order to receive credit for that assignment. For whatever God forsaken reason my parents INSIST on me attending PBSC, and since they are footing the tab, I'll do as they say with appreciation. If I had to spend my own money, I would have never even submitted the application fee. Students looking into this school, I recommend you save yourself the headache. EVERYONE is so rude God forbid if you call in the morning asking questions you either get hung up on or get attitude thrown at you left and right. I have never seen such an unorganized, unprofessional, school. I moved here from Texas to Florida and from the very beginning I have grown no help! The agents that answer the phone from the information line ( Linda, Gloria, to sue the manager) I was told by Fred M. That's it's because they over over worked and under staffed! But this does not excuse the level of service provided. No one knows anything, you find out something new (whether it's incorrect info or correct info) As a parent I wouldn't even want my child going here because I can't even get any help as an adult student. I've been attending Palm Beach State College since 2007 (back when it had the "CC" moniker.) I've received my AA degree here and started on my BAS recently; I didn't know they offered a Bachelor's Program, honestly, and I am more than pleased to attend classes here due to familiarity and pricing. Other than that, how often do you get the chance to stay at a college and have the option to take classes at four (4!) different campuses across South Florida? I've been to every one except the Belle Glade campus and the Lake Worth location is by FAR the best one. Professors and adjunct professors are generally awesome - I check on RateMyProfessor.com to be sure I'm booking the best instructor for my courses, then browse around Amazon for the books and supplies I need. Also, I could have paid 1.5x the price to attend FAU for the SAME CLASSES at PBSC - does that make sense at all? Nah. :) read more

This school is run by the lowest of the low. They have paid to remove my review 3 times now. They do have some very good professors, but dealing with the administration is next to impossible. Most of the admin are very rude, and have 0 idea what is going on, and will be unable to answer your questions. You're better off going to any other state college, PBSC used to care, but as of 2019, they have little to offer. They are unprofessional. read more

0 Stars FACIAL SPECIALIST CLASS: I have a 4 year degree and many certifications. This was the worst class I have ever taken from the "instructor" Christina Quijano, to the lack of any curriculum, to the students. --The instructor's method of "teaching" is reading from a Powerpoint. 90% of the time that you're in this class is spent sitting there watching her try to read from the Powerpoint. Then she taught us one type of facial only two times, then proceeded to sit with the Cosmetology instructors because she was fed up with her students and would say she's not teaching again anyway. --There was a syllabus printed out but the instructor didn't follow it at all, she would constantly add tests or change the chapter of what you had to study last minute or change the date. --I was there at this school from Aug 2019 until December 2019. During this entire time we only learned a facial, twice. We did not learn anything else or even how to do an extraction because the instructor was grossed out by that. --The electrical in the room is very faulty. Most of the steamers, towel cabbies and electrical machines don't work, also sometimes the bed will not raise and you will get yelled at by the instructor if she thinks you didn't raise the bed and not standing while doing the facial. --This school will make your friends and clients pay them $20 for facials so you will have a hard time actually getting them to come in. A couple of girls didn't get to practice any facials except on each other because they didn't have anyone coming in for them. They spent their time doing laundry. --The school claims to use Dermalogica products, but then when we would go to use them the bottles are almost empty. --Students would steal the exfoliation products. --Because of the limited amount of product the other students will take them off your station and will try to fight you, if you call them out on it. --There were fights with quite a few of the girls in this class many times. --One lady dropped out of the program, I was the second girl that dropped this program. 2 girls dropped out of 12. --The instructor doesn't watch the students and these girls simply put on hand sanitizer then do your facial, they don't actually wash their hands unless you tell them to. --This school doesn't practice cleaning the towels cabbies or the facial steamers. Since we're required to practice on each other I received a RASH on my face and my Dr said it was either the dirty towels or mold from the steamers in the class. --The instructor will spend most of her time in pointless meetings with the Dean Malave and the program director Rhonda Griffis. These people don't actually help diffuse any situations, they just do meetings. After wasting my time in this school, I observed other schools and their programs and found the best fit for me. I understand that students go to this school because it's the cheapest in the area, but you get what you pay for. If you already work at a spa or have a mentor that is actively teaching you different types of facials then this class would be ok, just to get your license. Keep in mind these issues and you should be ok. But my best suggestion is go to a school that actually specializes in the Facial Specialty program like Hollywood Institute, Total Nails and Hair, Empire, International Institute Education, or Boca Beauty Academy (pricey). I really wish someone would've mentioned some of these things and I wouldn't have wasted many months and money here. read more

PBSC is a complete joke of an educational institution. I have taken two classes thus far as a part of my dual enrollment, and I could not believe that some people had to spend upwards of $2000 on subpar classes on programming that could be taught better by self-study and reading. Granted, I only take live online classes as of now, but the campus itself is filthy from what I've seen, filled with delinquency, and nothing to write home about. The live online classes are hosted by 'professors' that are usually late or don't communicate about the meeting being cancelled, and the exact same classes in the 'live online' form exist as 'online' classes without the zoom meetings, demonstrating the lack of necessity for the meetings. It's a bureaucratic nightmare, not dissimilar to many other state colleges, and I warn against making such a large investment unless you're absolutely sure you're going to get the education you feel you should pay for. read more

All of the things previously mentioned have not improved over the span of the entire term. I want to comment on the absolute inability of administration to achieve anything without you holding their hand the entire way. The second your guard goes down, they sweep your problem under the rug, and hope someone else deals with it. I graduated from this college in summer of 2021, and have not received my degree in the mail yet. Its January 7th, 2022! I have contacted the school about this issue. They apologized for the inconvenience, and assured me I would receive the degree by December. Now they have changed their story to January! imagine going to a college to get an associates degree for 2 years. Then when you finish, and want to get a job, you don't have a diploma for close to 6 months after you graduate! they sell you the idea of bettering your self through education for the purposes of getting a decent job. However, are entirely incapable of following through with anything. Absolutely every single experience including but not limited to financial aid, admissions, and advising were littered with errors, and mistakes that you have resolve. Every time you call, your going to be told that they cant help you, and transfer you to the next person, who will say the same. The pandemic has ruined this school. Its HORRIBLE! read more

To be completely honest. The school could be better. Lake Worth campus looks downgraded compared to Gardens. There should be more food/drink options at these campuses. For food/drinks in Lake Worth; there is a Wendy's next door across the street (its always packed with students). In Gardens; there is a mall (w/ a food court) across the street and a few little restaurants nearby (including Five Guys). To add to the food/drinks all campuses also have DD (Dunkin Donuts) inside of their cafeteria's but kinda wish that they also had Jumba Juice in the cafeteria so I can drink a smoothie every morning during class or before class. Other than that, if I was you I would choose Gardens over Lake Worth just because the classrooms are bigger and more roomy. read more

Take the money you're going to spend in fines the security is going to give you for doing nothing wrong and go to a BETTER SCHOOL. They gave me a ticket for a car I don't own anymore on a day I wasn't there. Very competent. I learned next to nothing and paid quite a chuck of change to do so. Career advisors tell you to "google it" when you have questions. Academic advisors are students. And the financial center doesn't want to help you. This whole campus is run in a fashion that doesn't promote success, just completion. I had a professor put my final grades in wrong and filed a complaint with no follow up. Don't waste time by going here. Even though I sent my application documents and they were received before the deadline (I called and they said everything was ok, just wait for the email with student number and fee information), they would not accept me for the appropriate semester. I called them after 3 weeks of not hearing anything and they put you on hold a lot as well as transferring you to different people randomly. I asked what had happened to my application, they said I didn't write my email clearly, even though I had written it clearly. Then they said it was 'human error' so someone sent an email to the wrong address. Then I said that after I originally called them, they said all was in order and I didn't have to send more documents. But they then said I have to send more transcripts. While I was trying to explain that it was impossible to send in-progress credit transcripts, they interrupted me telling me to 'stop making excuses'. I had already been accepted to a Tier 1 National University but they treated me as if I am stupid. It was completely not my fault that someone wrote the wrong email address, even so, they could have called me as I gave my phone number by fax. Yes, fax, which costs money, because this college is so backwards that they do not allow international students to send email applications. If I was treated this badly before even going there, imagine how bad the administration must be when you study there. Lucky that they refused to accept my complete documents, after that I definitely won't waste time and money at the college. I don't know how an accredited college gets away with being so careless. read more

Please take a look at your professors in the Bachelor's program and some other areas as well. There seems to be a few professors who do not provide help to students struggling. I suggest go on rate my professors and take a look at the pattern. There is some great feedback from students that is not being addressed. As a student myself, I am under the impression the college is all about money and not about the students. You may want to look into that and do a better job when considering hiring these people to teach your future children. Would you want some of these professors teaching your kids, and paying all this money for an education they are not receiving? read more

I have not had a bad experience, the teachers are caring and listen to the unique and individual needs of each student, (so far as I have seem anyways). I really love the campus in Palm beach gardens, especially in the winter. There is not so much hustle and bustle. I would consider getting my full degree there any time. I have taken classes here, on and off for a few years. As it stands right now this college should be ashamed of themselves. In my experience a good percentage of the staff is lack-luster and really could care less about their students. Also many barely teach if at all. I have never attended another Nursing program to compare this one to but my experience has been less than incredible. If you are considering Nursing I would strongly urge you to choose a different school. The administration here is complacent about correcting flaws in their program that strongly affect students learning potential. You can also in some cases expect spiteful reprisal if you stand up for yourself or your education. When presenting your case you will be told you are lying and it didn't happen. There is never, in the time I there, did I see a case where the staff has genuinely taken responsibility, listened, and been willing to implement change. If you speak out you will be targeted for retaliation. There are different sets of rules for different individuals. Many assignments are graded on a wishy-washy standard, to say none at all. I have seen similar work turned in by different students, and one told it was unacceptable but another student was given a passing grade. "Check offs" are where you will show you have memorized hands on skills. Again check offs are not graded evenly, two people could perform the same way for different instructors. One might pass while another fails. Some students will be allowed to be late to clinicals with little or no reprisal while others are strongly admonished. Scheduling is often incomplete. And if they don't do their due diligence to get a substitute, when needed, for your clinical day, (clinical time is precious as there are only so many days), they made students report to the school at 7:30am, in uniform (adding insult to injury to wear and dirty an uncomfortable uniform because they failed to do their job), all to sit in the library and do simulated charting assignments or case studies. NOTHING replaces actual hands on clinical experiences. WE ARE PAYING FOR CLINICAL EXPERIENCE! Lectures are ridiculous, they do not teach. Instead they are enacting the "flipped classroom" with little effectiveness. The power points are shotty and they could care less. In one of many instances the instructor blatantly falls asleep slurring and snoring, dead air for many minutes, and they posted it, REALLY? We are told, we "didn't miss anything important," excuse me but I would like to be the judge of that. After all we are paying for all of this. I am appreciative there are other schools with posted lectures on youtube. You should expect to make 5 copies of every form before you turn them into the office because they will likely loose the first 3 copies you turn in. Only to tell you if you don't get it in by x date you will not be allowed to continue. These are only a few of the many experiences you will come to resent and expect here at glorious PBSC NURSING PROGRAM. Knowing what I know now, I would not have let the lower cost influence me. I would gladly pay more for a higher standard of education. Unfortunately, with this type of program they kinda have you in a vice grip you can't take your Nursing credits to another school for the next semester, you would have to start over. So unless you are willing to loose invested time and money you are stuck to see it through. IF YOU CAN, GO SOMEWHERE ELSE, you will be all the better for doing so. I would if I could. read more
