They started assuming my mom wasn't actually my mom and spoke to us with a really harsh, disrespectful tone. Then they accused us of "causing drama" when we literally just came in for an appointment. I am not someone who typically writes reviews but holy moly if I can warn someone before they waste their time and money on this place I'll do it. I was originally a member at south beach tanning and had been for 3 years. They suddenly closed and transferred my membership here with no notification or explanation. Fine. Not palm beach's problem. The first time I went in I expected it to be confusing since it was new but it turned into a 45 min process where they tried to sell me "more"even though they were giving me less than my membership at Palm beach and told me they were going to "wave" the initiation fee like it was some big deal they were giving me even though there shouldn't have been an initiation fee as I was already a member elsewhere. Whatever I tanned it was fine. I came in two more times after that and had the SAME experience where they couldn't find me in the system, couldn't figure out my membership another 45 min at least both times and attitudes like I did something wrong by not being where I was supposed to be in their computer. I went in last night prepared for the worst and boy did I get it. They were training someone new and there were people ahead of me so I took a seat and waited. When it was finally my turn the girl at the desk looked at me and said would you mind if we took the lady that just walked in before you? I thought she was joking and said no I've been waiting. You would have thought I had stabbed someone the way they looked at me and rolled their eyes. I got to the desk and AGAIN they couldn't find me told me I cancelled my membership and that they had no record of me being there. At this point I was extremely frustrated and said why would I cancel my membership and still be standing here? The girl was like if you're going to give me attitude we're not going to help you. I felt like I was in crazy town. She then said she needed to authorize my card for my membership so I gave her my card and she ran it. I said I would like to tan today and then cancel my membership cause this is not the experience I want every time. She then told me she needed my card again and I said I just gave it to you why do you need it again and she stormed away to call her manager. I sat back down to wait and she stormed back 10 min later and said I was being rude to her. At this point I said I just want to tan so as she's brining me back to the room I said this is some BS and she turned around and told me she was going to CALL THE COPS on me for trespassing!!! Meanwhile she still let me tan. After I tanned while i was getting dressed I could hear all the front desk staff talking crap about me being a KAREN and laughing about it. I am a 37 year old mother of 2 kids living in the suburbs just trying to get a tan. My feelings aren't hurt by a dude in jorts and a couple girls who probably voted to defund the police laughing about me but holy crap at least wait til i leave to talk crap. Anyways I will 1 million percent never go back there and would never ever recommend this place to anyone. Please save yourself the aggravation and save your money for a place that actually wants your business and can treat you correctly. read more

Usually don't take the time to write reviews but after my experience in this Palm Beach yesterday, i was very pleased with the service. Elaina and Hannah (sorry if i misspell!) took the time to thoroughly explain multiple products to me and were super patient as i took my time deciding which membership and products i wanted. They were very knowledgeable about everything which made me feel good about the whole process. The both of them were super friendly and welcoming, not just to me, but to every customer that came in while i was in there. Even though the Rock Hill Palm Beach location is only 15 minutes from me, i will go out of my way to drive to this location, as it is way more welcoming, cleaner, and has way more bed options. read more

after being a PBT customer for years, this is really the worst location. it took about 15 minutes to check me in because they're traning a new person, or they're constantly trying to push a new product. the other locations are always so kind and helpful where as this one always has the weirdest vibes. I have visited this location twice. The first time I used the spray tanning service. I paid about 45.00. I did the medium color which was ok. The drying feature did not work so I was told to stand in front of a box fan to dry. The second time I visited for the same service. I requested the dark color and bought a membership. After purchasing the membership and waiting about 30 minutes I was told that the booth was ready. When I asked for the tanning package (nose plugs, shower cap etc), I was told they were out but there was a box of garbage bags to cover hair and to use paper towels as nose plugs. I am certain they were also out of the dark tanning solution because I had virtually no color from the session. This was the quality of service I received as a "member" and from the assistant manager. She knew they were out of supplies before she sold me the membership. I will cancel at my earliest opportunity and file a complaint with the BBB. read more

I was lured in with a tan for a month promotion. It was advertised as $19. When I arrived, they explained it was a single tan for that price. Strike 1 When I used the mystic, the dryer feature didn't work. They told me it had been broken for weeks. I wish I had been told before I tanned. Strike 2 I requested management contact me. Almost a full week later - no response. I will not be using this location in the future! read more

Staff was very condescending and tried very hard to pressure me to buy their products. I have very sensitive skin and wanted to research the product ingredients. The one staff member got very pushy and started asking me questions about my sensitive skin and why I had to research ingredients when they are all approved by dermatologists. It's a no. I signed up about 3 weeks ago. The store had just moved a across the street to its new location, and I went in to question them about the quality of their beds. The woman at the front desk assured me that the bulbs in the level 1 were brand new, and that they wouldn't move old bulbs into their new store.. Which made sense. I signed up. 2 weeks later I took my friend to "Tan your friend Thursday" and mentioned to her that it wouldn't be wise to tan the full 15 minutes with the bulbs being so new... The SAME woman who signed me up (Kara) quickly informed us that the bulbs were not new, and need of replacement. I reminded her that she was the one who told me a different story not too long ago and that I didn't appreciate being lied to. She denied this, but I knew it was her.. You cant forget someone who has fake eyelashes that extend past their nose... I contacted customer service and spoke with Erin. She was no help, and only apologized, with no money refunded for my poor product purchased. Bottom line, these people lie about the quality of their beds. You will never know the quality of what you're paying for. Lost my business. read more

I went to Palm Beach to pick up a gift card for my Mother in Law for Mother's Day. (She wants to get a spray tan.) The business is located on the second floor in the Ballantyne Business Park above 5 Guys. The spray tans here are very well priced, and they had a Buy 2 Get 1 Free special going on, so I thought this would be a good place to go. The woman behind the counter was very nice, and the place seemed very clean. She wasn't sure how to activate a gift card so she had to call her manager. She was able to give me a brochure of their services to give to my MIL in case she wanted to add tanning bed services to her spray tan (called a cocktail). My MIL loves her gift, the spray tan we will see about :). read more

I've been there 5 times & have had a bad experience all but one time. I was pressured to buy products I don't need, thrown into a room with no guidance on how to work the equipment & today was told if I don't bring eyewear I wont be allowed to use the tanning beds so I asked if I could buy them there & the response was we don't have any. the truck hasn't come yet but they were willing to take my hundred dollars & then charge me another $18 two days later which I was not informed of due to some prorated bs. I AM COMPLETELY UNSATISFIED WITH THIS PBT. I cancelled my account July 22 (before the 25th) and my account was charged 8/1 and 9/1 and the manager said "there is no evidence of you canceling" and "opps we cancelled the wrong account, it's out of my hands". The manager is not helpful and my refund request has been sent a month ago and still no refund then I was charged AGAIN. How can they do this? They are not apologetic and they don't take responsibility for what they did wrong. I would not recommend the Ballantyne location. read more

Leaving town for the weekend for a wedding, I was in desperate need for a spray tan. After Yelping places for close locations, I decided on Palm Beach due to the fact that they had a Mystic booth. I arrived to find a wait which I initially thought wasn't the worst. However, because I wasn't already in the system, I had to wait to be put in after other people that came in after me were helped, one who was also spraying. So then I had to wait for that customer to finish before I could start (and I was there first). What I intended to be a quick in and out service didn't turn out that way. I also found it to be pricey for a booth tan. I ended up with a toner/bronzer too that I'm assuming was an extra cost. Two stars because the lady at the desk was nice and friendly, and I did have some color afterwards. All in all, next time I'll skip what I thought was the convenient route for spray tanning and have a professional spray me for close to the same price. read more

Terrible customer service. I came to this location only intending on tanning for one month. I tried to sign up for a silver level membership but I was told the stand up bed in that membership was not offered at this location; so I was therefore forced to sign up for the bronze level package. I came (white as a ghost) and tanned 4 separate times in a level 2 bed for 8 minutes and barely got any color. The lady at the front desk told me to try a stand up bed next time. From that point forward I only used the stand up bed because apparently the level 2 beds, that I was paying extra for, did not work. Nearing the end of the month I was traveling out of town for work and knew since it was the 25th, I needed to go out of my way to a PBT location to cancel my membership. When I went into this location I found out I was not able to cancel from this location due to the way their computer system works. The next morning (26th) I called my "home" store and was told it was too late and I could not cancel my membership. From there I decided to call customer service because I, a paying customer, was being penalized for not knowing how their computer system operates. When I signed the contract I was told I had to come in to cancel, and that I could tan ANYWHERE. They did not at any point say that I would be unable to cancel outside of my tanning district. I spoke with customer service who offered me another month of free tanning, which I did not want, so then she told me she would have a district manager contact me. 2 days later and no word from a district manager, I decided to call customer service AGAIN, and left a VM. The next morning I was contacted by my store manager who told me it was my fault bc I did not call while I was out of town to cancel. She then proceeded to rudely hang up on me after I told her I wanted to speak with the district manager by the end of the day. When I FINALLY spoke with the district manager, she told me that all she could do for me was offer me a free month of tanning, any month I wanted. She would not refund me my money and told me that they would have made an exception for me if I would have called to cancel since I was out of town, which I thought was funny because they would not be willing to make an exception knowing I came in to a store location (abiding my THEIR rules) to cancel when I was supposed to. All in all, the customer service was the worst I have ever experienced. I will never tan at a PBT location ever again nor will anyone I know. Please spend your money somewhere else- somewhere that doesn't make you jump through hoops to get in touch with the right person and will make sure you get proper treatment. read more

I will never use Palm Beach Tan again, besides feeling constantly gouged of money with them pushing products I didn't need. (try doubling the tanning solution for a darker tan! HA, I paid double and walked out with a tan that looked like a level 1-2--) and the constant variation of the same tan (I would always get a level 3 tan, but half the time walk out with a level 1-2 and sometimes they even changed the mixtures on me wo asking and I would walk out orange. I was always told your hormones can affect the quality of the tan" BS. Really? I also went in there once and stripped for the spray tan and stepped into the machine and zero tanning solution was in it, so I had to reclothe and go ask the girl to put product in the machine. I had to do the tan twice, was there an apology or refund for my time? NO. But the final final straw was when I had recent back injury and couldn't walk or drive and needed to cancel my contract (at first was just going to downgrade it) but their HORRIBLE customer service was not willing to work with me. I asked the contract to be mailed or emailed so I could sign it and was told flat out NO. YOU HAVE TO PHYSICALLY COME HERE. I told them I cant walk or drive. That is the only way they said.Then I was told I could "freeze" my account, and I thought okay will do that, but then saw they were still billing me 7.50!! (I wasn't told this would happen and when asked they said it was "for in store product" this place is a rip off. Also, I called their REGIONAL manager and left a vm to call me and try and get the form to me and NO ONE CALLED ME BACK. I would say this company cares less about its customers and is unwilling to work with you. They just want your money for an inferior product. go elsewhere you will get better service and do not sign their contracts! read more

I was told a monthly rate over the phone and when I drove all the way there they insisted they had to have my credit card on file even when I told them I only wanted to paint for one month. The way they do it is so shady you feel dirty when you leave I hope no one gets this place their business they don't deserve it and the place looks gross and dirty on top of everything else read more

I've been coming here for a couple of years for the spray tans. The rooms are clean and they provide several ammenities like hair ties, lotion, baby wipes, shower caps, etc. They also have a brand new Versa spray machine that is supossed to provide better coverage to areas of your body. I didn't see much difference for $8 more. The front staff is usually pretty friendly although they really want to upsell you. Overall, good place to get a tan. read more

Every year, I tan for 2 weeks to get a base tan before I go on vacations & to weddings and this year I tried Palm Beach Tan in Ballantyne. I WILL NEVER GO ANYWHERE ELSE. The beds are clean and up to date and the tanning prices reasonable, but what sends it over the edge is the staff. Christi and the ladies are SO SWEET. And not in the fake way, but in the most genuine, helpful ways. Always asking about my day, my dog, my job and other things, they get to know you one a first name basis and are really helpful when you have questions. While the lotions are too rich for my blood ( I buy my lotion on Amazon.com! ) , I really enjoyed everything about this salon and look forward to coming back next year! read more

Pushy and dishonest sales tactics at Ballantyne location. Tried to charge us $46 for one 6 minute session! $33 for bed + $13 lotion saying that we must purchase the lotion "or the first 4 minutes won't work!" Seriously?! We went elsewhere! read more

I love tanning here, this is nothing against Palm Beach Tan in general, but whoever the girl is with the pink hair needs fired immediately. I come in Sunday night (3/5) to a girl I could tell was oddly frantic. Come to find out, it was her FIRST DAY as an employee and the girl training her (whoever has the pink hair) just had a fit and LEFT HER alone in the store, no manager no nothing. She was handling it the best she could, by the way, extremely polite, apologetic and respectful, but she did not know what she was doing. After 4 or 5 customers came in behind me, she had to call this pink-haired girl and beg her to help over the phone with each customer. I was there for an hour, CLEANED MY OWN BED (I offered profusely) or else I'm sure I would've been there much longer, and as I walked out I told the new girl to leave that place. This makes me want to cancel my membership and go somewhere else if Palm Beach Tan is going to tolerate such a selfish idiot of an employee to leave a girl on her first day to handle the entire salon. Who does that? You inconvenienced customers, put a terrible face on for your business, and made Palm Beach Tan way less trustworthy. That was the most ridiculous experience I've had at a tanning salon. read more
