Last summer I was super cringed out by the nasty life guard ( a little twenty something year old maybe dude ) who had major attitude with me for drinking my water bottle right next to the pool while I daughters played and swam around. Yikes. It was so silly. We enjoy this place over all. The food is absolutely gross, but somehow we keep buying the chicken strips hoping they will be cooked normal. They try though! Teen lifeguards seem strict maybe it isn't them who make them the way they are but their superiors . Kids passed swimming test for diving boards , 1 of my kids passed but some random lifeguard said he failed because I gave my kid a high five when he reached the edge (when he finished ) he said you can't touch him he fails . I argued and then he said "ok next time don't do that " no running is an obvious one but when your feet are burning you have no choice . Still got whistled at . No deep areas to swim so tried the "loophole " and lap swim with kids . We were taking our time and once we did 2 complete laps they told us to stop doing it because we were resting for too long on the edge . I mentioned we were taking a breather . We rested about 2-3 mins before we started over again . read more

My family was here in Palm Desert area for the 4th of July weekend. Of course it was extremely hot. I decided to search for water park nearby and found this place. Parking is free. They have: Lifeguards Tables with shade Lounge chairs Water slide Kiddle Pool with splash zone Water Obstacle Course (need to take swim test to participate) Climb the Rock Rope Swing Diving Board Concession table area/Snack bar (limited items) It was okay. Restroom/Shower- Not adjustable/just push button/found one with l - Bring your own towels - Bring your own lock for the lockers -Bring your own bathroom toilette (shampoo/body soap.,etc) -Bring your own Water bottle (refillable station) Do not bring your umbrellas Do not bring the Beach Chairs Do not bring Food/Drinks We had a great time here and we will definitely come back. Used to love this place, but what others call progress, I call regress. PD pool is now hell on earth for adults. Kids probably love it more than ever, but there are way too many people, and they cut way down on lap lanes to make way for more toys and activities for kids. Plus it's $9 now!!! The lifeguards now communicate with bull horns, that are awful and loud. I used to like swimming laps and then laying in the shade and reading, but no longer any peace and quiet to be had. People all over with bluetooth speakers blaring too. Ick! One good thing is that the pool is now cleaner than it was last year at least, and they do keep it chilled, which is a godsend in summer. read more

The PD Aquatic Center is a beautiful facility. However I feel like management does a poor job of 1. understand the needs of its customers and 2. keeping them informed of what is offered and when. I prefer lap swimming on a 50 meter course. It has been available on Saturday and Sundays. Then it changed to Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 6 to 7:30 am. I showed up today at 6:00 am ( Friday) and it was the short course. I asked about it I was told that they would no longer offer the long course and that it was on the website. There was no explanation or announcement on the website, only the schedule had changed. If I want to train suppose I will have to swim at another pool. There was always a line of swimmers waiting the pool to open when the gates opened early in the morning for the long course. read more

Amazing property, my family and I came for my birthday weekend. The resort offered activities for my children. Pool was beautiful, and we utilized there onsite grills. Walmart was nearby so that was definitely was a plus. Rooms were clean and spacious. It felt like e we were right at home! Definitely will be returning. read more

Hopefully mgmt reads this: Staff is great, clean, pools are exceptional..!! Fun for children...! However..... NEVER .... NEVER enough lanes for lap swimmers. The main Pool can be 3/4 empty with 1-2 lanes open and 3 people sharing a single lane. Other times there can be 8 totally EMPTY lanes with Yellow cones ( indicates closed ) and have to wait for 20 -30 minutes until they say ok, they are now open Other times.... The Pool is almost entirely empty... and 1 lane open and two elderly ladies occupying the lane with inner tubes floating and bobbing up and down deep in conversation, not realizing people are wating to do their laps. Lifeguards won't say a word. Meanwhile... there's 8-10 empty lanes closed...for some reason.! Just my experience from going on regular basis for years. read more

Signed up for 2 swim lessons in the week. Received a call Day off CONFIRMING the lesson. We show up with our 2 year old and baby, pay the $50 for a 30 minute lesson. Wait for 10 minutes, in the pool. No one shows up so I go in to check in. I am then told that there was a miscommunication and the instructor has no idea there is a lesson right now and cannot make it. When I check in the following day about our next lesson turns out the instructor is not available again. Very frustrating because this lesson and time was given to me as the only one "available". Since we already paid our money is there "as credit". I understand how running a business is but to confirm a lesson with the client before confirming with the instructor... read more

We wanted to swim while visiting Palm Springs and this pool was a 25 min drive. It was $9 per person. Not crowded on a Thursday at 5:45 pm, so my friend and I each had our own lane. The water was salt water, which was nice. It was a bummer that they charged $2 for kick boards and buoys, so I opted not to use. read more

Great place to stay out of the heat of a weekend and fun for families and children. Inexpensive place and very friendly lifeguards and community. Planning on another trip again this week. I'm a swimmer. I bought a little getaway place here two years ago. At the time I thought the pool was great. The locker room and the showers however, were filthy. You'd see the same disgusting whatever on the walls for weeks and months. I would comment to the staff. They'd look at me like I was you're outta my mind. I got severe athletes foot that traveled up my leg, if you catch my drift. Can I prove it came from this locker room? No, but I'm convinced it did. There was no other source and at 62 had never suffered this problem. This year the pool has been filthy. It is always murky, dirt on the bottom, and too warm. Two weeks ago, an hour and a half after swimming, I was violently sick, vomiting every hour for six hours. I was wiped out for three days. I just got back from Hawaii, swimming there every day. I swam in the pool when I got back, and felt nauseous, not as bad as last time, but would've gotten sick if I didn't quit after 2500 meters. Additionally, one eye is now infected. No, I'm not a hypochondriac. This pool is filthy. It's a health hazard. I spoke to one of the guys who is apparently in charge and I think since the past year. Lets just say that he doesnt appear up to the task... He gave some absurd excuses. They have plenty of lifeguards, probably too many. But they know nothing about taking care of that pool. Its a disgusting health hazard. You will get sick. Whoever is in charge needs to go. I'm sure the the City is unaware how bad it really is... Swim here at your own risk. read more

Disappointed all the pools were closed except the lap pool. None of this information was on the website and apparently the other pools and waterside are only open on weekends. We wasted 10 bucks and a lot of time for lap pools. The misinformation is stealing peoples money who want to have fun and swim freely. First off, I grew up swimming in Palm Springs as a "Piranha". I have been a competitive swimmer my entire life. My father was on the board that created and had the PS Pavilion pool built. Prior to that we swam in the old PS High school pool. When the Palm Desert aquatic center opened, this pool and entire facility was amazing. Loved pulling into easily one of the prettiest parking lots in the world, the beautiful long course 50 mtr swimming in early ams, and solar heated showers in large locker rooms. Now, these past few visits, the place is DIRTY! Nasty dirty! I've written my complaints in the comments section at the pool twice. Mold growing in bathrooms tile and floor (yellow mildew and smelly). The water was much to warm in the competition pool (84 degrees). A large floating brown hair wad got caught across my mouth & in my goggles. The bottom of the pool was filthy with debris (old bandaids, leaves and dirt). The hair that gets caught in shower drains, was scooped up by someone and a nest of hair debris was placed atop the shower head of the shower stall I was bathing in. Disgusting & Truly a bacterial festival in the making. Get a cleaning crew with some bleach and a scrub brush into those locker and bathrooms. Please, make that cleaning a regular daily occurrence. The competition pool..? That's just a no brainer. All public swimming pools are to be cleaned every am prior to opening. Chemicals checked and administered. This clearly isn't happening. Temperature for a competitive swimming pool should always be 78-79 degrees. With 2 other pools for young and older, non lap swimming guests to enjoy, those alternative pools can be heated warmer. The maintenance of a multi million dollar swim complex should have been considered. Cleanliness is not happening at all at this facility. Instead the staff is completely lax and uncaring to this regard. Nothing has been done for months between my visits. It's just a shame and really quite disgusting. I'm not going back into the PD Aquatic Center again. read more

Loved, loved, loved the exercise class. The instructor was amazing. She introduced herself after class, I don't remember her name. The pool was absolutely beautiful! The deep end was 15ft. I was a little intimidated at first, once I was I. I was ok, matter of fact I felt lighter once I submitted to the water! The staff was VERY friendly. I thought the fee was $5 got to the window and it was $6 the lady behind me offered me a dollar... I was so loved. But everyone was so nice. I'll be back! read more

People of all ages were having fun at the Aquatic Center today. Lap swimming, diving boards and DEEP water for the adults and good swimmers. Small pools equipped with slides and water play activities for the tikes. They even have two pretty fun water slides for anyone over 48" tall. My five year old was right at the line and enjoyed the slides IMMENSELY. There are plenty of participants but the areas are pretty expansive so you do not feel crowded or hindered. We spent three hours there and everyone had a common goal. Just to have a great time with their family. It cost us $25 for three adults and two children. What a deal. We do have a swimming pool at home but we wanted to expose the kids to something else when it comes to water. We may return next week. read more

I rarely write a review for an Aquatic Center but this place is sooooo incredibly impressive! Your facilities - the pool is so well kept, clean, maintained (at least to my goggled eyes!) I saw your lifeguards scraping the bottom of the pool early in the morning! Every corner and curve was cleaned! I wish you could share your method with my AC! We've got some challenges in our pool! I get the feeling that this establishment is not exactly a "for the people" establishment. We arrived during the opening hours that are posted and were turned away to go to the park till the establishment actually opened (two hours after posted Time). I did see people inside and people coming out from swimming to leave. My concern is, it can get up to 110 easily where this establishment is located, and even in shade that is extreme heat for anyone.... especially children. It wouldn't hurt to change the hours for average folks coming in with children to swim. read more

This was a great yelp find! We are on vacation with our 4 year old son and we needed to find a better water activity than the place we are staying at. Yelp brought us here and we have visited twice this week. It's very clean and lots of lifeguards on duty. They do have a snackbar prices are decent but options are not so healthy. It's a beautiful world class swimming facility with very dedicated staff who ensure that the water quality is excellent and safety is number one. The staff, who arrive very early in the morning, are friendly even at such an early hour. David does a fantastic job of making sure the pool temperature is perfect all year round, cool and refreshing in the summer and warm and inviting in early winter mornings. I have been to the Aquatic Center a few times and my son loves it each and every time. The kiddie pool area is great and so is the beach entrance pool. It is great for kids and very reasonably priced. They have a snack bar with simple treats for you and your kids. The best part about it, is that they accept debit card! The new Palm Desert Aquatic Center is your place to go if you want to get good and wet, especially if you are one of those poor benighted souls who don't have a pool in your back yard. It's on the back side of the Palm Desert Civic Center park, with the entrance off of Magnesia Falls Drive between San Pablo and Portola. Parking is free (unlike Knott's Soak City, where you have to pay $10) and they have special parking places marked "Fuel-Efficient Vehicles." We cracked up when we saw an Escalade in one of them and a Suburban in another. Some people don't seem to know what "fuel-efficient" means, I guess. Just don't park your Hummer there, OK? To get in for an adult is $4 if you're a Palm Desert resident, $6 if not. Children 6-12 and seniors are $3 and $4.50 respectively, and 2-5 $2.50 and $3.75. Long-term passes are also available. On entering, the large pool for laps and a deeper area with a couple of what look like 12-foot diving boards are to the right; a 30-by-30-foot, 1-foot deep kiddie pool with slides and such is straight ahead, and to the left a large family-type pool wraps around with depth from zero to 4.5 feet, though about half of the pool is 3.5 feet. In the back are a pair of corkscrew waterslides, which seem to be very popular. There is even a lift so that severely physically-handicapped people can be dipped in the pool. Ever-vigilant lifeguards keep their eyes on the pools to make sure everybody is safe. There is a nice grassy area on two sides where people lay out on their beach towels and catch some rays, which I kind of wonder about because most people could do that at home for free. The building has changing/restroom areas for men, women, and people who don't know which they are, and lots of lockers, but you have to bring your own padlock. You can get just as wet here as you can at Knott's and it won't cost you an arm and a leg. It's a nice place and kids especially enjoy the family pool areas. What a great find! For $6/adult and $3.75 for kids, this place is a gem. We have a pool at the Palm Springs accommodation we are staying but wanted a change so I did a quick google search and found this local YMCA location. We came on a Monday in May. The pool was quiet and not too busy which was so nice. The water is salt water rather than the horrible chlorine so you don't end up smelling like chemicals all day long. Definitely a good place to bring kids if you're holidaying in the Palm Springs/Dessert area. read more
