I don't usually like shopping for a new car because the sales people are usually very obnoxious and not good listeners. However, today I bought a new car and my salesman, Warren, was superb! He asked very poignant questions to get a feel for what me and my wife were looking for in a car. He did not use high pressure tactics and gave us many options to choose from. About three weeks ago I went into the parts department to inquire about getting a luggage/bicycle rack installed on my 2022 Kia NIRO. please note that this is my second time at this place, the first time I ordered a replacement part for my car and for both times I was told that I would receive a call when my part arrived, or when they found a luggage/bicycle rack. I called the dealership yesterday about an EV9 lease and spoke to Tara. She provided numbers for a 24-month lease with 10,000 miles and assured me these numbers would not change. This morning, after driving 1 hour and 45 minutes from Illinois, I test drove the EV9 and waited for the confirmed numbers. The finance manager then told me the numbers were for a 36-month lease, not 24 months, due to an "error." This blatant bait-and-switch tactic is infuriating and seems to be a common practice among Kia dealerships. I am extremely dissatisfied with this deceptive and unprofessional experience. ------------------------------------------------ Update 07/25/2024 The team of Palmen Kia has responded to my review for further investigation. Let me provide the details of what happened: 07/19/2024 I spoke with Tara, confirmed the numbers with her, and ensured there was no bait and switch. Tara was also present, and we agreed that I preferred the white color. I never write reviews of things online, but if I can help stop someone from making the same mistake I did by going here I will. The service department is truly one of the most terrible places I have ever gone. I had to beg to be called back, I would call multiple times a day with no updates on my car. When I originally dropped my car off I called and they had told me after looking at it, it was going to be under my powertrain warranty and I would not have to worry about it. After a week I called again, no response, I called again, no response. My tech was always "busy with a customer" and would not take my calls. I went a month simply not knowing what was wrong with my car because they were going through Kia's warranty department- which I understand warranty can be timely. But I went to another dealership yesterday who was able to look up the part immediately and tell me it wasn't under warranty in 30 seconds, unsure why it took them 30 days to figure that one out. During this time I was asking if I could get a loaner car, to which they told me they had none available, but once they had one they would let me know. They never did, and when it came back as not under warranty, the story changed- and they could not give me one due to me being 23- and "kias policy" is that I can't get one because of my age. Which I later found out is a lie, they simply just didn't want to give me a car. You would think after my car being there a month and a half with no work, and paying $3,300 they would want to do that for me. Once they came back and told me it wasn't under warranty, they said it was going to be $3,300, which I paid because I just wanted my car back. They did the work, and I picked it up Tuesday. Thursday I was driving and the exact same issue happened AGAIN. I called and of course the tech that was working on my car was "busy with a customer". I promised myself I would never go back to this dealership for anything ever again after how horribly I was treated. Which I didn't, I took it to another dealership who ran codes and it was the exact same issue- to which they said palmen misdiagnosed. I can't even explain the mental toll this entire thing has cost me, this truly was the worst experience I have faced. I have never been treated so poorly, been blatantly ignored when simply just wanting to know what was going on with my car, and I feel scammed. Unfortunately I do think I was taken advantage of here, and I can talk poorly about the service all day- but as humans they should be ashamed for treating another person this way. read more

We turned in our lease on Saturday May 24th. We had a 3 year lease on a 2017 Kia Sportage, no bells or whistles, very basic. You would have thought we were lepers because nobody seemed to want to deal with us, especially when they heard we were not replacing the vehicle due to financial issues. Palmen sold us a used car that won't pass emissions without disclosing or reconciling. Bought our 2013 Jeep Grand Cherokee Oct 6 and within 30 days we had the emissions done, Nov 4, emissions REJECTED. I called Palmen and talked to the manager of the KIA department, Michael Osterndorf KIA Sales and Finance Manager, and he told me in context that it's not his problem, that we took a risk by buying a used vehicle but Palmen is happy to take our Jeep into their service department to fix so it will pass emissions but it will be at our cost, the consumer. Nothing of the sort was disclosed at purchasing. I asked if it was legal for the dealership to sell us a car that will not pass emissions and he turned the question around on me saying what I just wrote above and he further explained we took a risk by purchasing a used vehicle that has over 130,000 miles and mentioned we got the car for a good deal. This is a more serious matter about passing emissions and they are not taking responsibility. I am not a lawyer but I am pretty sure you cannot sell cars to people that won't pass emissions without disclosing this. Note: The managers did not try to work with me! Again, they said I was at fault for buying a used vehicle. I am the one who was amicable, honest and nice and tried to work with the dealership. They refused!!! They did nothing to take accountability that they sold us a vehicle that got rejected by emissions right after purchase. I normally dont take my cars back to the dealer for routine servi e, but I have found Palmen Kia to be an rxception. I never feel as if I am being "ripped off" as I have at other dealers in the past. If they find anything extra that needs to be done the notify and explain the reason before any work is done. Also I have foind their prices to be very reasonable. In addition to the above, Their coustomer waiting area is very nice. Always clean, TV to watch, free WiFi, a place to charge your phone and of course the coffee and free fresh baked cookies is something to look forward to. I recently bought a car from here for a good price. The process was okay, but they use a told of the typical car sales trick - the four square method, hard sales of silly items like "paint protection" and the like, and over priced warranties during the finance process. Their sales folks get a lot of training on overcoming objections, but those who know better understand that no modern car needs paint protection, most fabrics are already made to resist stains, aftermarket underbody coating can void rust warranties, and third party warrant companies are notoriously suspect. They also have a high "doc fee" of $399. That's really just a profit fee as doing the paperwork is part of doing business. Refuse to pay it anywhere you buy a car. No law requires it. Before you buy, watch a few youtube videos on buying a car to avoid all these tricks and scammy things. read more

I bought my car in May 2016. I got the car home and a few days later was being contacted that the salesman had input the wrong information about the car on the bank loan so I needed to come in and sign paperwork again--it ended up being fine, just a headache. Shortly after that I noticed the air conditioning didn't work so I called and they said I needed to take it in to confirm what was wrong. After checking out the car they claimed there wasn't a leak when the test was done and did not charge me for recharging the coolant (which I was thankful for--but it was something that should have been taken care of before even driving off the lot as it was only a 2014 model) Fast forward to today, May 2017. The weather got a little warmer so I tested out the air conditioning and noticed it wasn't working. Not even a year since they had recharged it (again, my car is a 2014 model) the air was not blowing out cold. I called to schedule an appointment and wanted to confirm that I would not be charged for any of the tests for a leak/fixing the leak (I also have the extra warranty so everything is covered except maintenance--which refilling coolant would be considered BUT a 2014 model does not need to be recharged within less than a year). After 2 messages I still hadn't heard back and my appointment was scheduled for tomorrow so I called again and asked if I could speak to someone else, as the man who was supposed to be helping me (Jose) never returned my call. I was finally able to speak directly to him and explained the situation and he just kept repeating that 'it's possible for a car to use up the coolant that quickly.' or 'maybe there is a leak there now that wasn't there last year'. Since they had recharged it almost a year to date and didn't charge me there was nothing he could do about it. I can recharge/refill the coolant myself at home. I'm not going to pay them 130$ to tell me there wasn't a leak (again) even though something is clearly not right, and then charge me even more to actually refill the coolant. I won't take my business to Palmen Kia ever again for any future vehicle purchases or recommend them to anyone who is looking for a vehicle. read more

I came here twice for service, and I doubt that they have a technician for the hybrid car. I prefer to take my business elsewhere. If as a customer you tell that your car has a problem, it means there is something wrong. You never tell the customer that you are wrong. I have done my service in several states, and was very happy . But I see this dealership very different. They don't even have a Kia lineups for display, the rest is the history here. The showroom is big they have big area but there is no quality pretty primitive way of working. You cannot schedule appointment by Kia's UVO app. They don't do follow up call reminder for the scheduled service. You can get service appointment quickly because they don't have much people coming here and appears they have less vehicles to work on compared to other dealerships I have been. What I was told about this place from the locals appears to be true. We all learn from our mistakes. read more

The wait was around 45 minutes (exactly what they had estimated) and I got to catch up on a book with cookies and coffee in the waiting area. I was looking for a Kia Seltos EX, I did shop around and the final price so far as I have not made a choice at this point was 27,345.98, 09/20/20 this dealership wanted 31,000 for the car. When I walked in and said I was looking for the exact car I told them I was willing to pay 25,000 and they said they could work with me. Then the 31,000 price came up? You can try here but in reality be careful and do your homework. Leave your emotions at home when purchasing an automobile. It's hard I know but be willing to walk away as I did with this potential sale Palmen. Quite honestly I was surprised. Be very careful with these people if you do not have any experience buying an automobile. Also lookup Kevin Hunter on YouTube which will guide you in the correct direction in buying a car in all phases. Knowledge is everything! Sadly for Kia, this dealership is a Zero in my book. My wife and I recently decided it was time to purchase a new (well, almost new) minivan. Being fond of the Dodge Grand Caravan, that is where our search focused. We drive from Illinois to Mexico once a year and started looking at vehicles as far as Texas this past Spring. Unfortunately, nothing panned out, mostly based on personnel and failure to return calls. I'm naturally an untrusting person when it comes to car dealerships due to a bad past experience. My wife and I make at least monthly, if not more, visits to Wisconsin so we decided to look at vehicles in the Kenosha/Racine. After visiting several dealers along the way, we decided on Palmen Motors in Kenosha, WI. We purposely stopped by the lot on a Sunday so that we could freely check out vehicles, make our notes of vehicles we were interested in and then go from there. I called the dealership the following Monday and made an appointment to talk to a sales person. We made the drive back up to Wisconsin, walked into the dealership and was greeted by Dave Knudson. We asked questions, he provided answers, we test drove 2 vehicles and made up our mind. For us, the decision to purchase from Palmen was easy thanks to Dave. He walked us through the process and it was actually painless. We put a deposit down, left and made our financial arrangements. We did not receive any pesty phone calls asking when we were coming back - he had our deposit and our word that we were coming back, which we did 10 days later and off the lot we drove with a great vehicle. I would like to share my experience with Palmen Motors of Kenosha. I went in on a Saturday to test drive a truck, when I got there they said was already sold. Saw an 04 Cummins outside and decided to take it for a drive. I was sold. After talking prices, since the banks were closed for the weekend they said to take it home for the weekend. When I got back Monday we ended up purchasing the Vehichle. I brought in a list of things I wanted fixed, but they refused without bringing the price up, one was an alignment. So I decided to get it done by my mechanic. As they were doing the alignment they noticed that the sway bar had a lot of play in it, the back brakes and rotors were shot, and the rear seals were out of the axle. I immediately contacted them and got an estimate for them. Palmen didn't want to even fix the stuff in the first place and after a week I Was able to convince them that it was their responsibility. They still refused to fix the brakes saying "a man should do his own brake job." My estimate (from a certified shop, with a warranty) was $700 to do the axle seals, sway bar, and complete brake job. They insisted I bring it back to their dealership to fix. I brought it down and within a day I got a call from the service department. He said that the rotors are dangerously bad. But, the brakes are pressed and they are gonna put the seals in, but in order to do the rotors you need to break the seals deeming it a waste of time. They said they would "cut me a deal" and do the brakes for $800. I said no and immediately called up the sales manager (who's name I'll leave out). After some convincing he said he'll pay for half. Of course I was still upset and told them I didn't have $400 to pay for it. The same guy who told me the brakes needed done ASAP told me "they aren't gonna break down on you right away. Maybe you should save up some money then and get them done." After some fighting, I decided it'd be okay to pay $200 and they pay the rest. I called him up asking him if that would be okay, he said "since you wrote a bad review about me, I'm not gonna do it." Well, here's your review mister! I never wrote one before. These guys are a bunch of crooks. Look at all the other reviews of this place. They leave parts broken on their vehicles so after you buy them you have to pay to fix them. I'm not the first person to write about this. If they want to fix my Vehichle I'll gladly take this down. But until then I'm warning everybody to NEVER buy from them again. I went to get a heating vent fixed here and could not believe the run around. First they told my wife that it would be $1000 but that got moved down to $700. Then they told her that in all of the United States, there was only one available part. Assuming that of the 426,872 Kia Sedonas produced since 2006 had entirely unique venting systems every single year, there were still 21,823 Kia Sedonas produced in 2010, leaving the claim of only one in existence to be highly questionable. If any other Sedona owner has an issue, I guess you'll have to junk your vehicle. However, that was just the beginning of the double talk. Then they told us it would be a $100 and something diagnostic fee that would be waived if we went with the repair. However, after the bill, it wasn't waived, it was "rolled" into the repair. If we were going to pay that fee regardless, then what was the logic of mentioning it at all. Couldn't get a straight answer for that. So then we asked what do they charge per hour for repairs; couldn't get a straight answer there either. It was $139 per hour unless this or this or this. The bottom line is the car was dropped off for repair at 2:00 PM and we were called and told the repair was complete by 2:50 PM. No amount of math would get their bill to make sense. The part was $400 and the total bill was just over $700. I don't remember the exact number for the diagnostic fee but no amount of adding that number to the per hour work fee, whether we were charged for 1 or 2 hours, would add up to the total bill. Pointing this out didn't seem to matter to the manager either. Whenever it suited his argument, he'd say that the flat diagnostic fee included the per hour fee and vice versa. Objective math or simple logic didn't matter to him. Hell, there was even a point where the manager said that the car was dropped off at 1:15 and that was where the extra labor charge came from. When my wife pointed out that she didn't get off work until 1:30, reality didn't phase the manager at all. He just moved the goal posts and changed his story again. In the end it was just mechanic magic and he was going to tell us any tale in the world to make that bill make sense. read more

This is a dealer I purchased four vehicles from over the last fifteen years. My brakes went out in the Costco parking lot and I had it towed there on the weekend I put the form in the box withNO Brakes in capital letters on the form with the key inside. I started calling them Monday to ensure they had read the envelope -nobody ever answered the phone. I got a call from the dealer saying they rammed my vehicle into another car and they would pay for the damage which they did. The told me the brakes would be 2100 dollars to fix as it was a custom solution done by hand, I got bids from three other KIA dealers, all in the $1100 range and had it towed to Ray KIA in Antioch -they. treated me like a king and had it done in two days doing it with standard parts. I will never use this totally dishonest dealer again. I got stuck for the towing but I saved $1000 by going to an honest dealer. read more

Never again. After an emergency on the road, we had our Pacifica towed to Palmen Moters of Kenosha. The resulting transmission repairs cost over $2K and took a total of 21 days until the vehicle road ready. Upon returning home, we discovered a transmission fluid leak. Upon having the leak inspected, it was discovered that the pan had been bent, re-attached with an extra bolt, and sealed with silicone (not the recommended seal). This created an additional $500 in service, as well as two more days of a car in the shop. The lost time and $500 cost would have been better towing the vehicle to a local shop (one that we can trust). Lesson leaned. read more

Watch out for the bait and switch on the internet price. I came in after seeing they had a Jeep for just over $16,200 on the internet on their website. The vehicle stated it was a certified pre-owned. We looked at the vehicle and liked it. The sticker on the windshield said "warranty included". We went in to talk price. Upon being asked, I informed the salesman that we would likely be paying cash. Then he went to talk to the manager. He came back with a HIGHER price of $17,884 plus $999 for the warranty! They would not honor the price ON THEIR OWN WEBSITE! Save your time and go to a reputable dealership. We had a much better experience at every other dealership we went to, even though we did walk away at several others. Not one other dealership felt it made a difference if we paid cash, because they are playing the long game. They might loose the percentage of the loan, but they have a satisfied customer who will make referrals and write good reviews. On a side note, this place is hot, has uncomfortable seating and so many flies! Yuck. Save your time and money and just drive past this one! read more

Mike Moreno did an excellent job helping me pick out a car and starting the finance process. The rest of the process was horrible. The stereotype that women/young people don't know how to ship for cars or buy a car is unfortunately apparent at this location. IF YOU WANT A CAR FROM THIS DEALER, GET YOUR FINANCING FIGURED OUT WITHOUT THEM. DO NOT GO THROUGH THEIR FINANCE DEPARTMENT. Unfortunately, their finance department is extremely rude and made me wish I never even went to Palmen. I live outside the state and I asked what the process would be like to register my car and get my title. Come to find out they made an error on my papers and charged me for transfer plates. My father went to the out of state DMV and they refunded him and told him how to take care of this issues. I called into the finance department and I unfortunately got Cody on the phone. I could tell he was talking down to me like I didn't understand what I was talking about. I know I am young and a female but that did not give him any right to speak to me in a different tone. He kept repeating, "This is what you wanted, our part is done. I don't know what to tell you." I kept explaining to him what the DMV had told my father. He kept repeating the same answer but slower each time. I finally got fed up with being treated differently. So I hope they read this review and change their ways. No one should be treated like that. I have to other friends and they had the same issue. One of my friend's husband had to finally go in and talk to them in person because they wouldn't listen to her.
