Today was our first visit with Dr Brar. Dr. Brar was extremely kind hearted, thorough, and patient in caring for our new puppy! Our puppy instantly felt at ease with the Dr., even while getting shots. Dr. Brar also found a cyst/tumor that the previous vet did not. I took my dog in on Monday because she wasn't eating they told me it was just food poisoning and didn't check her vitals or blood. She ended up having a uterus infection and was in critical conditions and ended up passing away on Friday due to the vet's laziness and mistake of not bothering to check her blood. Dr. Baar is the best vet I have come across in the 13 years I have had my dog. He truly cares about the animals he sees and their owners. His prices are very reasonable compared to other surrounding clinics! He is knowledgable and takes the best approach and action of care for your pet. All of these flattering words may or may not be helpful to you as a reader; therefore, I will give an example. My dog had an infection in her mouth. I was concerned and called the clinic the morning of after reading these yelp reviews. I didn't want to take her to an emergency clinic, because many times they are outrageously expensive and don't provide caring service. I called the morning of and asked when was the earliest I could get her in. He asked me many detailed questions over the phone about her symptoms and asked if I could bring her within the hour. He was technically closed that morning, but took the time to see my dog! A note on his prices, because we all know that veterinarian services can be pricey, he isn't that much more expensive than, for example, Animal Welfare, where I have taken my dog in the past. Not to mention, at Animal Welfare you wait in the waiting room for literally 5 hours! (No offense to Animal Welfare... Great organization, I just don't have the time to wait like that). Dr. Brar is one amazing doctor. My dog is one of a kind not only did he do a phenomenal job with his ruptured gland he stitched him up and gave me exact instructions on taking care of his infected area. I have had my fair share of vet visits and I only wish I found him sooner! I have never been able to say I was happy with every aspect of his facility. His staff is very nice and extremely helpful. Pet is breathing slightly heavier than normal and the first thing the office and doctor say is to take the pet to an emergency room. Dr. Brar was my dog's first vet and throughout his life he has done a great job caring for him. My dog is 15 years old and has had chronic ear infections. Recently my dog's ear filled up with fluid and Dr. Brar started with the least invasive treatment to remove the fluid. The fluid came back and Dr. Brar decided to operate. Dr. Brar was able to operate and my dog was ready to be taken home withing 3 hours. Which is great because being at the vet's office is a stressor for my dog. I was able to take my dog home and monitor him in an environment he was comfortable in. The surgery went extremely well and within a few weeks, my dog was ready for his stitches to be removed and he hasn't had any complications with his ears post surgery. We started going to Palos Pet Clinic because it was convenient when we lived in the area. Now we come because of the care and service our pups receive. One of our dogs had puppies on two occasions and Dr. Brar was easily accessible to provide information over the phone and at his office to assist with all the needs. I just left an appointment at Dr. Brar's office and would love to say I'm thoroughly pleased with the services. Here's the background- My Boxer Maisy got scratched in the eye by a cat last night. Coincidentally, I already had my dogs scheduled for a wellness exam tomorrow elsewhere (I don't live very close), but I was feeling uneasy about my dog's eye, so I called a few vets near my boyfriend's house & this clinic said they would be more than happy to see Maisy right away. I only had to wait about 20 mins & had a visit from Dr. Brar that addressed Maisy's eye. The Doc is very knowledgable and does not rush appointments. He spent an adequate amount of time inspecting her eye, listening to body sounds, and checking vitals. My dog has a corneal tear & she could have been very ill had this not been addressed. This is a Doc who truly cares about his work. I work with Doctors everyday, so I can tell when someone is dedicated to their job, & this guy absolutely is! The facility is small, quaint, and has a great homelike feel. The cost was extremely reasonable, especially since I had such a last minute request. The vet tech is also very personable and helpful. Dr.Brar is one of the best vets I've ever been to. He takes the time to talk to you and doesn't rush you like most vets. He always returns your calls & is very affordable. I bring my Sadie there and he diagnosed her with diabetes. He ran labs and figured out the next day that she had diabetes & emailed me the results. He also did not have diabetic food in stock but said he'd order it so I didn't have to drive to the specialist to get it. He just got a Lifetime Award in December 2011...so I feel he is good enough for my little Sadie. My dad still brings my family dog there who is 15. Dr.Brar is very kind and gentle & Sadie(3years old) is 10lbs & thinks she's 60lbs so it's nice he can handle her well. I have told all my friends and family to go here to Dr.Brar. My dog has a few health issues so I have visited a few different vets in the past, hoping to find a good vet that not only knows his job well, but is honest and caring as well. The main difference that I see with Dr. Brar at his clinic is that I'm never rushed and he really seems to care about pets and not making extra profit on stuff that I don't need. He doesn't take your puppy to another area to get shots. You get to be right there for the whole thing. He truly cares about animals and is an all around amazing person. My cousin referred Dr. Brar to me, therefore I drove from the northside of the city to pay him a visit with my adopted PAWS puppy. My puppy was on meds from PAWS clinic, vomiting, & had no appetite. Dr. Brar advised me to keep her off the meds and told me she would be better in time. He suggested I give her a nutritional supplement with his recommendation of canned food. He assured me she would eat this food...he was correct. She is feeling much better and so am I. His pricing is very reasonable in comparison to vets in the city. I have been going to Palos Pet Clinic for 12 years now and if I could, I would give it 10 stars! Dr. Brar is extremely knowledgeable and is able to spot if something is wrong with my pet right away. I have a 6 pound Yorkie who gets scared very easily. Dr. Brar is always very gentle with him which I appreciate so much. I recently had to leave him for few hours at the clinic for teeth cleaning/extraction and I felt completely comfortable knowing that he will be in good hands. This business refused service. I made an appointment for my German Shepherd to have his nails clipped. I brought his rabies shot to the appointment. My dog had his prong collar and muzzle on for extra safety as this wasn't his regular clinic; it was just much closer to home for what was supposed to be a quick appointment. My dog was anxious and crying but the vet didn't even acknowledge his presence. The dog barked at the door bell when the receptionist walked in which I assume is rather normal; dogs bark at doorbells don't they? The vet stated he wouldn't clip the dog's nails because he wasn't going to behave. I told him that the dog was just nervous because it was his first time there and that he'd behave better if taken alone without my presence. I asked if they could tie him to the wall or nail clipping station using the leash as is done where we normally go. The vet suggested a tranquilizer which was outrageous for what I needed to be done. I wonder if this clinic only provides service to quiet pets, pets who aren't nervous, or ones who don't cry or bark. It seems to me that a business which claims to be an animal hospital should not only provide service to all pets, big, small, nervous or not, but should also have proper facilities and equipment to do so. read more
