Pan Kumpir is one among the food stands on Skwer Judah in Kazimierz. It's well worth trying. The portion size is massive. It's not a snack--it's a meal and a half. I felt bad because I had to throw away so much of my order.
It's a bit hard to describe what's actually on offer here. "Baked potato" isn't quite the right translation. The spud you get is something that's a cross between a yam and a potato. I don't know what cultivar it is, but it's definitely more interesting than plain-o Russet. The flesh has a nice sweetness to it and the skin has a chewiness that calls to mind that of roasted yam.
What I got was the cheapest option--the classic for 8 zł. It's a great deal. As a street food item though, it's a bit awkward to eat. The plastic knife you get doesn't do a very job slicing through the potato skin. read more
