The bar is easily accessible- Victoria train and Shudehill bus stations are close; alternatively, there is a short walk to Piccadilly Gardens.

When I came in, I was greeted and sat down really quickly, this is a bar that serves food, for example even during the day it is set out like a bar, with dark lighting, weird disco lighting going around the room, loud music and uncomfortable seating. Straight away, I taken a look at the menu and I didn't understand the weird, unusual layout so I consulted my server who consulted the chef, they put so much pressure under me to get certain items and in the end i opted for it, he seemed to know what he was talking about and stressed how good the beef kebabs were, and the chips, he tried to push certain foods on me and stress how good they were. I also claimed my free coffee for checking in on Yelp, however I rather wish I didn't, it is made from a kettle and not a machine and the coffee quality was awful, I had to send it back the first time and the second time it wasn't any better. The food had a really long wait, and when it did come it certainly wasn't very good either. My Mexican Chicken dish was terrible, as I recall it cost £8.50 with chips or something like that. They did put the Naan bread on my plate despite my request not to because of my allergy. The food really wasn't very nice, the chicken was poor quality and just rubbery, it tasted so bad. I couldn't even eat it. Even the chips were bad, yes they were homemade but they just tasted weird, they weren't very nice at all, instead they were a little soggy. Moving onto my friend's meal, my friend normally does enjoy eating out and does normally eat it no matter what however she was disgusted with the quality of the chef's special, the kebabs, I tried them and they tasted undercooked, it felt like the Chef had been put in another room and a hitman tried to kill us by making the food, it just tasted awful, they had no flavour, nor seasoning and considering these were the best kebabs and the best thing on the menu, they really were awful Sadly, if the chef actually thinks these are some of the best things on the menu, they must be deluded and simply not understand what food is. I'm struggling to think of something with this place that is actually okay, my list goes on - Overpriced - Poor service - Awful coffee - Awful food - Pushy staff - Decor - Overall feel for dining The list goes on.... Sadly, the place I once loved has turned to a place I now despise, my friend and I both left our plates and had to eat somewhere else. And there, opposite the fire escapes, and between the back doors and wheely bins...is Corbieres...a welcoming little rectangle of light luring you in and down its steps. And I really do mean 'luring' - my beau and I had said just 5 minutes ago that we didn't fancy a beer, and yet we soon found ourselves at the bottom of those stairs investigating the various lagers on offer! There wasn't a great selection on tap, certainly no names that I recognised, and the barman didn't seem too enthused about what was on, but I got to try a new Czech lager that I was quite pleased with. And there was a good selection of bottled goodies behind the bar as well. The room is rather small, but the atmosphere of the place is just great: exciting yet understated, the kind of place I could imagine both hipsters and die hard football fans could rub shoulders and neither would snigger at the other. That's my kind of place. The jukebox is wonderful. During our brief visit we were serenaded by a mixture of Happy Mondays, Stone Roses (we are in Manchester after all) and some other classic delights. In fact, one of the quotes on the walls (see photo) claiming to be from Ian Brown himself, is that it "always was, still is, the best jukebox in Manchester." High praise indeed. In recent months its popularity has absolutely boomed if that used to be the case, and on Friday and Saturday nights, you've often got little chance of getting in, let alone sitting down, or accessing the Juke Box. The Juke Box is an absolute joke, no doubt, as it claims, it's the best in Manchester. The place is in a cool wine cellar which gives in a unique feel and it has a lizard attached to the bar (great idea). There isn't a focus on wine despite being a wine bar and the clientele are indeed much better than your average Deansgate set. Its genuinely one of the coolest bars around and I think its one everyone should try, so I do advise going, just make it a week night...

I was lucky enough to have Neil C. take me to Manchester House last Friday as a treat for starting my new job. I have visited the bar on 12th floor numerous times and have always been impressed, but this was the first time for dinner. Upon arrival, the hostess on the ground floor congratulated me on my new job! Excellent customer service and such an amazing, personal feel. She knew this from when the table was booked, but she didn't have to say anything. She did and it was amazing. Heading out of the lift into the restaurant we were greeted by a few more lovely hostesses. They welcomed us, took our coats and we were shown to our table. Walking through the restaurant, it has been very cleverly designed so that you walk past the kitchen first, giving you chance to see some of the dishes being prepared and sent out to their tables. I was SO excited. We ordered 2 full tasting menus. I ordered the drinks flight in addition and Neil C. went for the wine flight. The tables were neatly laid out and the seating was comfy - good job too, as we were sat there almost 3 hours. Our waiter arrived, carrying 2 glasses of Champagne. 'A gift from us. Throughout the evening our waiter was charming, knowledgeable, friendly and explained each dish in such minute detail that I can barely remember what I ate. One French 75 had a pretty major impact on my sobriety, however, so I'd say it's value for money as well as delicious. I'm also a fan of their cut glass crystal. The staff are very nice although can be a little slow to take your order/clear tables. Also beware the lift! It has a mind of its own. Update: the vesper here is excellent.

This is a very good place to go to if you're out with a mix of the two. It's in the gay village but on the outskirts so it's kind of mutual territory. It's cheap, it's big, it has another bar below it (BED) and a huge island-type bar in the middle and they serve you at all sides so you never have to queue to long. And jugs of cocktail are buy-one-get-one-free. Messy times. It's a good place to start a night off, I wouldn't really stay here all night. Music is cheesy as you'd expect but it's a good laugh and the DJ is usually up for playing most requests.

Like most Wetherspoons pubs, they've transformed a grand, old building, so it's a massive pub at the end of Deansgate, there's even a set of stairs leading to an upper floor! If you prefer fresh air, there is a small seating area outside, but being on one of the busiest and most polluted roads in the city, and with smokers outside, I'd advise against that! The history of the pub is fairly interesting, it originally opened as a cinema in 1914, and a large one too, before being redesigned and opening in 1930, The Moon Under Water took over the unit which was abandoned for a while and is the pub we see today. Inside, it's pretty much a typical Wetherspoons other than the historic parts of the building dating back to the old cinema, service is pretty bog standard chain pub, but drinks are fairly cheap though with the Wetherspoons app available to order and drinks brought to your table. 3* - No music and TV, but a large pub with cheap enough drinks.

I took a chicken korma, and Mary had the sweet potato and chickpea curry. Both were excellent, with great portion sizes and superb flavours coming through. I'm clearly not a food critic, and don't know what words to write, but the food really tasted good! Mary also added a samosa and onion bhaji for only £1, another great deal. Both of our curries were washed down with some excellent craft ales. As usual, Wetherspoons does a great job providing a selection of beers from small breweries across the world. Really impressive.
