The tamales are pretty good. I definitely recommend the chicken and the pork. The bread isn't so great though. I know it's sweet bread, but it's a bit too much on the sweet side, you can't really taste the spices (like cinnamon) that are also in the breads. Some breads are a little bitter/sour. I'm not sure why... ex: the puerquitos which are like pig shaped gingerbread like. They also don't have a big selection of bread. Went into this bakery this morning for some bread and notice that the bread is behind the glass shelves and the women behind the counter picks the bread for you. I asked her if the bread was freshly made today and she response with a yes , so I asked for a few breads and noticed she picks her oldest bread first , I knew the bread was not fresh when she did that. Got home to have some bread and it was stale . By them grabbing the bread for you , they make sure to give you the old bread from the days prior vs the fresh bread. Fantastic tamales and conchas. My review is based off the last two interactions with an older lady who is rude and down right unwelcoming . I went in on a Saturday and paid for a dozen tamales and was told to come back in 3 hours, the lady who helped me was awesome. My husband went in to pick up our order and as soon as he told the older lady he was there to pick up tamales she sternly responded "NO AYE" he proceeded to explain that he paid and was told to come back at noon. Here is my concern, they advertise tamales on the weekends and make them through out the day so I'm disappointed that the old lady doesn't give customers options to come back later etc. the business is losing money from patrons who want to spend their money. read more

I arrived in need of a tres leches cake. I asked if they had one available and they said yes. They pulled a cake from the fridge. I asked them to write happy birthday and they agreed. When I got the cake and saw the writing I was in disbelief. They handed the cake to me (after I had already paid for it) with happy birthday written in what can only be described as third grade penmanship. The young man that handed the cake advised none of the decorators were there and that's why the spelling was so poor. I took the cake because I needed a tres leches cake in a hurry and felt that I could Fix up the happy birthday disaster. We just cut the cake and low and behold it is NOT A TRES LECHES CAKE. Terrible communication. We call to place a large order Monday morning establishing count and pricing. I go Monday afternoon to place a deposit the worker is unaware of the order and is unsure if they can fill the order. They asked me to come back Tuesday morning to speak to the "lady" I said I can't go in the morning they write up a purchase order and still won't take a deposit. They got my number down to call me back and said If ok I could even leave the deposit Wednesday. They call me later that day saying they can do it. It's now Wednesday and they said it's too late to put the deposit down. Now I'll have to explain to 192 people which Local panaderia wouldn't fill the order. At least my company can avert future business with them. If you're looking for a large order save yourself a headache and go elsewhere. read more

They're moist and the chicken has a great flavor with a mild green chile kick and the cheese tamales are mouth savoring! Great pork tamales! We have bought our tamales from here the last few years and they are some of the best I've had. The pork is a bit spicy and very flavorful and the masa is moist, not dry and crumbly. The ratio of meat to masa is perfect too. I highly recommend buying your tamales from here. read more

This review will not be based on past experiences with other bakeries. (This is actually the first one I have ever been to.) This bakery is almost right behind the Farmer's Boys fast food restaurant, so be careful if you park in front of the store. When you walk in you will see that there is no wall separating the kitchen from the counter, so you get to see some of the employees prepping items. There is a cabinet to the left that displays all the pasteries and cookies they have for sale. Unfortunately there are no labels indicating pastry/cookie type, price or time it was made. In fact there are no menu boards in the store to let you know what they make, you just have to ask the employees. I have never been to a bakery before, so I had no idea how to order anything from the cabinet. Apparently you take one of the wooden food trays and plastic food server gloves from the counter and place what you want, from the cabinet, onto the tray. When you have made all your selections, you place the tray back on the counter and one of the employees will place them into a brown, paper bag and give you your total. It would have been nice if they had plastic trays or pastry boxes instead of just putting them in a paper bag. The oil from the pastries seeps into the bag. I wonder if they would allow me to bring my own container. The pastries were decent, but most of them had thick breading and the ones with filling did not have much for such thick pastry. They also sell tamales (I think they have chicken, beef and pork.) that they keep in a steamer (?) on the counter. I bought a couple of the chicken tamales and I thought they were pretty good. (Note: I have no idea what "authentic" tamales are supposed to be like.) The employees were somewhat standoffish. I am not sure if it was because of my awesome fashion sense (Baggy t-shirt and sweatpants - aww yeah!) or I am not one of their common customer types. The bread is amazing! Better than the big grocery stores and you get the mom and pops feel of a local panaderia :-) Only thing is the customer service. The order ladies are very warm and make you want to support local businesses but ohhh not the young ones. I may seem like a bum when I go, as I wake up looking like a bum lol, but i just want some fresh pan! My background is customer service. So I walk in all happy (hair all bad) say *Buenos Dias* they all day it back. And looking to make sure everything is handled as it should to make sure they meet safe serve laws and to keep that "A" in the window. Its a force of habit. As I have a masters in public health. But when I'm a bout to pay the young ones are like I'm bugging them as I'm trying to spend my money and looking at me with such a look like go home. And feel just cold! The bread is okay, better then Cardenas but the service sucks! The older lady acts like her sh--- don't stink. All the ladies working there seem like they don't like their jobs. one day I went in and bought $15.65 of bread. I had both of my sons with me so of course they wanted to get something from the little vending machine they have. I had my son ask the lady if she could please brake the dollar bill so they can get a little toy. Well they (the older lady and the girl working the register )told him no. They told a 6 year old boy no! The older lady said it in a way that she made my son cry. We went back in and I asked why? the ladies said they don't have enough change..so you are telling me you don't have 4 quarters to put into YOUR vending machine???You shouldn't have a business if you have horrible customer service. Dirty dirty dirty. The cashier handles money then reuses her plastic glove to count the pastries off of a dirty tray that I'd be surprised if it were properly washed. Then she put the dirty glove on with her dirty hand. Sorry to sound mad but I am. I've owned a restaurant and I lived up to proper Health Department standards and I wish everybody did. I dont care about the flies but the dirty pastry display is easy to fix. If they cannot properly handle food at the counter its not likely they can safely prepare it in the kitchen either. read more

I'm so glad I looked this place up on yelp! Good reviews lead me here and I can say I'm a happy client. The bread is so soft and on point with real mexican flavors. The bolios are sooooo damn good to make tortas, I give 4 stars because this place is not the cleanest and I believe they could buy new bread shelves that don't look broken. This bakery has very good bread and tortas. But the excellence and quality in their food does not carry over to their customer service. We've had issues in this area before, but this morning was the worst. Our two tortas were being made and almost done, when a large church group arrived AND they were all served before us AND our order, which was almost ready, was given to this group; we had to wait again for our order! I am 100% Mexican and I know what good Mexican bread tastes like. With that being said this bakery is pretty good. All bread was tasteful and flavorful. Not much selection but what they have is good. I've had way better conchas somewhere else though, I usually go to panaderias to get this particular pastry called "beso" theirs is just ok. Again had better overall.
