Quick, Yummy, Comfort Food At It's Best! This time around, i ordered the Vinha D'alhos & Eggs... The Pork is marinated in vinegar and gives the pork a nice tangy taste to it... i also ordered the fried rice, as well. That hot the spot, too! The Banana Pancakes are really good with the chucks of banana throughout the pancake. Come on by and bring your plastic money. no cash accepted.

Great food. They are consistent. This is one of the few places on island that Ive visited and ate at more than once. The steak chimichurri competes against any high end steakhouse that serves that type of sauce. The P&W omelette was delicious.

I've tried to come to this breakfast spot a few times and it's always been super busy on the holidays. Well, I finally got a chance to try it on a weekday and it was the perfect time to go. I ordered the fried chicken and waffles. Waffles were light and tasty. Fried chicken was crisp with a nice crunch. Good flavor as you bite to it. I found it a little pricey. Overall a good place to check out when you're in the area.

I have been going to this place for many years. Today I had a delicious plate lunch. The 3 stars is because a cockroach crawled nearby. I brushed it off then saw dead cockroaches between the chairs. I took pics to show you. The food is wonderful, the menu has a wide variety of choices and has ample parking.

Short rib stew with rice and mac.

Stopped in for comfort food after the big rains this weekend. Happy they were open. Cashier here is always friendly. Hubby often gets the short rib stew so I decided to get it, too. Note: This is a cashless establishment so be sure to bring a card. You go up to the cashier to order, pay, sit down, and they bring your order to tour table. If you don't purchase a drink, cold water that you pour yourself into small paper cups is available. Our food was served quickly since no one else was in the restaurant. (We were early, just after 5pm). The stew is served in a bowl on a plate that has your rice and salad. You can get white or brown rice, mac, potato, or green salad. They give you both a fork and a spoon because you'll want to scoop up the delicious gravy. P&W's white rice is a little dry (IMO) so dipping it into the gravy works really well. The short ribs are fork tender, you don't need a knife. Not sure if they are always boneless but today's were and they were 3/4" thick ribs, not the thinner Kalbi type. You get a decent amount of meat, along with two or three perfectly cooked potato pieces and carrot slices (not mushy), and bits of celery. All are good. Mac salad was ok. If you eat all the mac and two scoops rice with the stew it's good sized meal. The stew is 4.5 stars. Rice and mac 3.5. I hardly eat beef stew at restaurants, but will make an exception when it's made with short ribs!

Great brunch spot with generous portions and friendly vibes! We came to Pancake & Waffle for brunch around 10am on a Sunday. The area has plenty of parking, tucked between several venues, which made arrival stress-free. The restaurant was packed and the line to order was long, but surprisingly efficient. We didn't wait long to place our order. We got the full stack blueberry pancakes ($13.95) and the fried rice special with bacon ($13.25). The pancakes were massive, fluffy, and full of flavor, definitely shareable unless you're really hungry. The fried rice was a standout: savory, well-seasoned, and satisfying enough to be a full meal on its own. The bacon and scrambled eggs were a great bonus. The space was clean and casual. You seat yourself, and the staff works hard to keep tables cleared so guests can settle in while waiting for food. After ordering, you're given a number and the food is brought out to your table. Overall, great food, great experience, and easy parking.

Honestly, very disappointing. I've been to the Denny's in Waikiki, and I've had breakfast there before. That place was also very bad -- but this was somehow even worse. The food was overpriced and poorly presented, and it came out almost instantly, which made it feel like it had been sitting there already. The quality was extremely poor. The bacon was cold, with barely any butter on it. The toast was sloppily plated and honestly tasted like leftover bread that had been toasted multiple times. The coffee was served in a plain paper cup and tasted like it had been kept on a warmer for hours. This was $4.50 per cup. My husband ordered the mini breakfast plate, and I ordered the French toast plate. With two coffees, the total came to $47 and tax with a 20% tip, it was about $59 for breakfast for 2 adults. For that price, we expected basic freshness and care. Instead, it felt like we were being served leftovers. Very disappointing overall.

Depends who helps you at the counter. Service can be quite unappealing that makes you not wanna go back. Knocked off a star.

I ordered brekkie from here this morning for take out. Got their fried rice special that comes with bacon and eggs. Also ordered side of their corn beef hash. This totally hit the spot. I love breakfast foods. I can eat breakfast anytine if the day!

This was my second visit, and once again, they did not disappoint! The staff are friendly, welcoming, and always pleasant to talk to. The restaurant has such a cozy, family-friendly vibe that makes you feel right at home. The only downside is that the space is quite small, so if you don't come early, you'll likely have to wait a bit for a table -- but honestly, it's worth it. The pancakes are light and fluffy, the syrup is rich and delicious, and the over-easy eggs are cooked to perfection. And whatever you do, don't forget to order the fried chicken -- the portions are huge, the meat is juicy on the inside, crispy on the outside, and packed with flavor. Pretty much their whole menu offers a great variety, and a lot of their dishes are downright DELISH! From sweet breakfast classics to savory comfort favorites, there's something for everyone. Everything comes out hot, fresh, and beautifully plated. You can truly taste the care they put into their food and service. This spot has easily become one of my go-to favorites -- perfect for a relaxed breakfast or brunch with family and friends. So if you're visiting Oahu like I am, take a cruise to this restaurant for great, local meals.

Pancakes & Waffles BLD is an affordable, big portions, kind + quick service kinda spot! The food is good and very reasonable. I enjoyed the extremely fast service and it was so delicious too!

Pancakes and Waffles BLD is located in the Waimalu Shopping Plaza. Tons of parking. As we walked towards the establishment i noticed it wasn't to busy. 3 people. I thought that was odd. As we walked in the restaurant the ambiance was great! Colors was bright and spacious. My wife ordered for us the cashier was very friendly and helpful. This was breakfast time and I got the bacon, eggs and fried rice. Wifey got Portuguese sausage, eggs and fried rice. It looked very yummy. But sadly my food was ok. My wife thought the fried rice was ono and the sausage was good. But her eggs was eh. I wasn't thrilled about the fried rice, my scrambled eggs had no taste and my bacon didn't have taste either. Idk i wasn't happy and I love breakfast. Bottom line would I come back? Maybe not. I would rather try somewhere else first.

Place is super 'ono! Stopped by yesterday for the first time around 11:45ish, I guess we missed the morning rush (and came earlier enough to beat the lunch rush). HUGE menu, breakfast and lunch items. You order first then grab a seat and they'll come to your table. I got a crab cake eggs benny, side of fries, and a strawberries and cream waffle. Everything was so dang good and they don't chip you on the portions!! The only thing I would change is the egg on my eggs benny (it was overcooked) but I didn't mind, they loaded me up with hollandaise sauce. Waffle was so delicious, I didn't need any syrup! This place is good, but also kind of pricey. For my 3 items it was $40.99 without tip. I'd definitely recommend bringing your out of town family here!! Oh also, the staff is awesome so friendly!!

I would say that Forty Niner is a great place to get the bang for your buck in terms of pricing for their food, but I will say that the quality of the food isn't as great as it's presented on their ordering site, Beluga. Today, my husband and I chose to do takeout and ordered three things: The Lemon Ricotta Pancakes, Chorizo Hash, and the Molokai Loco Moco. For the Lemon Ricotta Pancakes, the lemon taste was pretty concentrated in the middle of the pancake/not well distributed and we couldn't really taste the ricotta flavor, but it was pleasantly sweet (not too sweet). For the Chorizo Hash, I was a little bit sad that it wasn't very flavorful and the Chorizo wasn't well cooked. The Molokai Loco Moco's flavor receives the same review as the Chorizo Hash; although it was special/the first time we'd had Loco Moco like that, it was pretty soggy/watery and lacked flavor. The food itself in my opinion gets a 3.5/5, but because they were timely and friendly as a staff, I'm bumping our review up to a 4! P.S: This location is in the corner of a neighborhood street and Kam Hwy and the parking is pretty small/limited!

He took our orders, quickly bringing back our drink orders of a Jim Beam on the rocks and a draft beer. Unfortunately the machine was out of commission so hubby had to settle for bottled. Our drinks came quickly, mine was a generous pour, and hubby's came with a tall glass. Perfect! Meals came quickly, too. I had the boneless Korean short ribs, tender, juicy, with just the right amount of char, served on top of sliced cabbage and sprinkled with sesame seeds. It and the Kimchee were both awesome. (There were a LOT of people waiting!) Lady calling out names as tables were ready really seemed to enjoy her job. Her intonation was pleasant to listen to, and she was easy to understand, nice and loud. Names were being called out at a good pace so tables were clearing quickly. Guess the breakfast/brunch folks were all leaving around that time. Just under 20 minutes my name was called and as soon as we entered the door from waiting on a bench outside there was a hostess ready to seat us. After seating us she asked about drinks and very quickly brought hubby's Dr. Pepper and my Coke Zero (no ice). Mine had a lemon in it, which turns out to be the signal it's a Coke Zero. Added nice flavor, too. She said our server would be right with us, and we had just enough time to scan the menu then our server Alicia came to our table. We ordered immediately and our food came in record time. Hubby's pancakes with scrambled eggs and bacon, no butter had tall fluffy pancakes, and no butter. (Some places forget, but not here.) My Salmon Benedict came with eggs poached perfectly, yolks runny, as it should be. I ordered my hash browns "crispy" and they were perfectly crisp on both sides. (Not every place crisps hash browns on both sides...) Alicia came at just the right time to check on us and ask if I wanted my soda refilled. She looked at it and asked if it was a Coke Zero, so the lemon must be the signal. She was very busy (it was bustling inside) but managed to stop by at all the right times. Friendly but no chit chat since it was super busy, very efficient, which was perfect for us. She came by just when we were done and asked if I needed a box for my food, and we asked if we could order a slice of pie to go. Hubby wanted the fresh strawberry pie which is in season. She suggested the strawberry tart, which suited him just fine. I asked if they still had fresh peach pie and she again suggested the tart. Alicia brought our 2 tarts in a paper bag and said she included forks and napkins. She had given me a paper bag for my Benedict but I wanted to help the environment and we were trying to fit it with the tarts. She was eagle eyed and called out to us that she would bring another bag. We explained we just wanted to not waste a bag and showed her the unopened one she had brought with my box. She was amazing. Looking forward to the next time we visit. Hope we get her as our server again. Got home and while the tarts are for dessert tonight, I wanted to enjoy the freshness of the tart crust so I snuck a piece. The crust was so good! And the fresh peaches were great, too. Always better than canned. The yards are really almost like a slice and a half of pie and and neater than taking home a slice, so it's a good deal. Pies are expensive because making pie crusts takes time, so getting extra crust in a tart is great. Hope our next visit goes as well as today's. Thinking of getting the chicken pot pie next time!

I was told that the macadamia nut cream pie was only made on the weekends. Ok, I asked if I can still be it by the slice on the weekend and she told me that it is only sold whole. That was a big disappointment because that was my favorite pie there but did not want to get a whole pie. They did have the banana cream and I was able to get by the slice. I ended up getting a slice of custard pie for my 2nd choice. The gal did show me the sign by the register of what pies are available for slice for that day, which wasn't a lot. Both pies tasted ok, nothing special. The banana cream had a few slices of real banana, which was nice. The pie crust was on the thick side and tasted pretty dry. It wasn't the best banana cream pie I've had .The custard pie was meh, didn't have a real good custardy taste and the crust was the same as the banana cream. Overall, the customer service was good and I probably will go elsewhere for pies.

Dinner in Aiea, O'ahu, Hawai'i…read more.. On Saturday evenings, my casual foodie group (with my 89 year old auntie) tries various restaurants. Sometimes auntie can't join me, so we've added a guy from the Philippines and a gal from the mainland. Both of them are quite open to new foods and places. I told them about Kapiolani Coffee Shop and that I had never been here before, even though I lived here (basically) all of my life. Kapiolani Coffee Shop is an iconic, Old School institution that started in the late 1940s. If you like the cozy diner vibe, this it... in a local form... and it's NOT just a coffee shop that's open for breakfast only. They even have a takeout window for those who don't want to dine in. The mainland gal poked her head in on the restaurant side and thought that we were in the wrong place because there are only nine tables inside. She was surprised at the size of the place. Yes... it's intimate. We told them that we're a party of three and waited a few minutes for a table to open up. Soon after we were seated, our Filipino friend started speaking Tagolog to the bus boy. Our server was friendly and patient with us! It was a nice, calm, comfy environment! Of course, I had to get the famous Oxtail Soup. The meat was fall-off-the-bone tender! The broth was delicious! I appreciate the few peanuts, a couple of pieces of star anise, and generous amount of cilantro in the soup! Our Filipino friend enjoyed his succulent pot roast and the gal from the mainland took half of her yummy corned beef and cabbage home because the portion was so large! Thanks for a great foodie adventure! The free, shared parking was an added plus at Waimalu Shopping Center!

We got there around 2pm, had to wait about 5 minutes for a table. We ordered oxtail soup, pigs feet soup, steak w/ onions and mushrooms, calamari, Kim chee and fries. First thing to come out was the steak for our son, few minutes later the fries and calamari came out. This is where everything went wrong, maybe about 10 minutes later my son was done eating, our waitress comes by and says the soups will be coming out shortly, 5 minutes pass, 8 minutes pass, I had to ask the girl at the register how much longer on the food, she says about 10 more minutes..... Wife and I decided it was too much to wait 10 more minutes, so I walked up to the counter to cash out, told her we'll pay for what we were served. Manager (I'm assuming) came out and said sorry the oxtail is not soft enough and will need about 10 minutes more (quality control?) we said nevermind it's been too long, and I'll just pay the bill, side note we was charged the kim chee and didn't get it so I had the girl remove it from the bill. My question is, how does a place that boast about their oxtail soup run out??? Granted it was 2:00 Sunday, they do have a take out window and they close at 9pm, someone should have been preparing the next batch before the pot ran dry. If it was handled better maybe we would've waited for it to be cooked, but I had to inquire about our soups instead of someone informing us on what is going on in the kitchen. I get places don't want to overcook to lose money, but at 2:30 and no oxtail?!?!?! Go figure. As for the food my son had, steak was good, but wasn't worth a $29.00 steak plate, calamari was a little overpriced too, but then again it's Hawaii.

We ordered chicken fried noodles, chili spaghetti, and chicken katsu curry. The food was not worth the 30min wait. It is the typical local food very similar to LnL or Loco Moco. We were disappointed because we were expecting really good food since this place was feature on cheap eats & a few other local social media creators IG pages. The price point is good for the amount they give. There are other locations on Oʻahu if you're interested. The vibe of this place is very laid back. It's very clean, bright interior, and lots of white furniture. It seems very cozy. There were some long tables and small ones too. It could be reconfigured to host large groups. The kiosk is easy to use and equally easy to make a payment.

If it's your first time, I HIGHLY recommend their trio - loco moco, crab cake Benedict, and ube pancakes. If you'd prefer to only order one thing, definitely go for the crab cake Benedict....its amazing!!

Everything looked appealing and appetizing to the eye, but we were met with disappointment on multiple dishes. With Da Bite, you get a flight of three smaller portions of entrees: 1) the waygu loco moco meat was overcooked and the gravy was just salty; 2) crab benedict was more breading than crab so once you bit in, it was quite mealy underneath the initial crunch. The lack of crab could easily go unnoticed when smothered in sauce. 3) Ube pancakes with ube marscapone... the marscapone was delicious, but the pancakes lacked fluff and moisture. The kids pancakes also had the similar spongey dry texture and my nephew chose to only eat half the portion. We also had the Longsilog, which is a sweet sausage, but it was overly sweet for my taste. All in all, the food was just all right for the hype. Maybe we would've enjoyed it better if we hadn't already experienced better versions of similar menu items that set the bar earlier on the trip.

SERVICE: friendly n' fully staffed INTERIOR: one person/party can enter at a time. No dine-in; just order n' pay. EXTERIOR: in the same plaza/across from Dipped by Dee. Line forms to the right when facing store. Two benches in the line n' two tables with chairs to the left. WAIT TIME: highly recommend making a phone order n' if you can pre-pay over the phone too, even better. Placed phone order at 12pm on a Saturday, was told a 1 hour wait. Got there around 12:55pm n' the line was maybe 10 parties deep. After waiting 30 minutes, entered store to pay n' receive food. In total, about 1.5 hrs. OVERALL COMMENTS: portion was huge; more than enough for two people. Plate was heavy. They don't skip on the fried rice n' chicken. Spicy ahi was definitely spicy, the kine heat you can't stop eating. The firecracker chicken was yuMmmy n' saucy. They gave at least 6-7 good size pcs. The potato Mac salad was a good cool down n' to cleanse the palate. I'm already wanting it all again, which means everything was Ono!
