I leave feeling good, knowing that I ate something more nutritious than typical fast food. Service is usually pretty quick, but it depends on how busy they are. My order has been messed up before, but they will fix it if you let them know. It's 11:30 in the morning, and you'd think a brand-new Panera would be shining like a freshly baked baguette. Instead, the floors looked like someone had thrown a "crumbs & coffee sticks" party and forgot to invite the cleaning crew. Tables? Dirty. Chairs? Sticky. My group actually had to roll up our sleeves and wipe down our own eating area--basically DIY Panera housekeeping. On top of that, coffee drinkers beware: the refill station looked like it was running on fumes. Thermoses were playing hide-and-seek, and you have to hunt down a staff member just to keep the caffeine flowing. This place really needs a dedicated person just to keep the dining area clean and to keep an eye on the coffee station. It's a shame, because the food is solid Panera quality, but eating it while staring at tissues on the floor kills the vibe. Bottom line: brand-new place already looking tired. They could improve their communication between workers. I had an order taken through drive thru, my name was not asked and order number was given to me. Going up to the window, the worker didn't know who I was or what I ordered. They could be a lot more organized. My receipt was not given to me. But I was asked to park in a spot in the lot. When my order came out to me I asked if they had everything in the bag and said that they did not charge me for 2 items I had ordered and so they were not included in my order. we used to go to Panera to study or as a break while traveling from client to client. normally it was a group of 2 to 4 of us and we would get lunch, later on drinks and pastries. we would find a table and hunker down for 3/4 hours. Paneras usually haven't been busy during the times we already met. now the stores aren't set up for long stays. one huge bright room with not many outlets to plug computers in or have a discussion on a days work because everyone is within ear shot. the food has been a step up from fast food but not it looks like just another fast food store. get you in quick and out quicker. it's lost the ambience it used to have. I frequent both the Sudley and Liberia locations and the only issue I have for both is that the bread and pastry selections are limited by lunch time. They are open until 8, so why can't we have a better selection during the last 8 hours of the day? Forget about joining the Panera "Unlimited SIP" offering. The management and staff don't understand the offering, and make you continuoiusly feel like a thief taking coffee and/or drinks on the road. I travel 11/2 hours each way to work in Bethesda, MD and enjoy sipping half-filled coffee/drinks during my commute to work. I've also been advised I should appreciate the driniks are more costly for Panera effecting their profitability. Also been told by the staff, the coffee/drinks refills are only available every 2-hours. The Food is different here than in other locations. The bowls have the wrong ingredients. You order one kind and you get a mix of two others. This place just keeps getting better. Yes, I know it's a chain, but they have a place. They bake their own fresh bread for their sandwiches and ....it's really good too! They have really fresh quality food and it's always consistent no matter which store I've been to. You get a great variety of healthy choices. My husband stopped by the Panera on Liberia Ave to pick up dinner and I specifically gave him a screen shot of my fave order (customized ham and Swiss) that I keep in my profile so I always order the same thing. It used to be a good location but has gone downhill. Even the bakery items are not up to standard. If you want a burnt panini that is ice cold inside, this is your place. Soup is usually lukewarm. Management must have no control over the quality because it's not like the menu is complex or different than any other location. I made an order (02/14/22) on the website (not DoorDash) as the manager insists that I did. I ordered flatbread and salads meal. After waiting for an hour I decided to check outside before I made the call to find out where my food was. My food was sitting outside. Cold. After 3 attempts to call the store on Liberia to make a complaint and let them know their driver didn't knock or ring the doorbell and just left my food outside, the manager finally answered. He was rude and not helpful. He insisted I used some other app. He finally checked the computer. Then said I didn't leave any special instructions for delivery. Then basically called me a liar and insisted that the driver called me and sent a picture. I received no call and no picture to let me know my food was there. He offered no reconciliation. Management at this store is very unprofessional. I will not be buying anything from Panera bread again. I will also be telling all my friends what happened. This review isn't about Panera Bread, I love their food and they are great! It's about them using Doordash for delivery. Today I ordered lunch (from Panera's website) and I watched the tracker as the driver was 6 minutes away then 4, then 1..then 7 minutes, then 4, then 5 (a few times) and then stating it was delivered. The driver was never in my neighborhood. I was standing at my door the entire time watching my phone. So I called the driver and said the tracker stated my order was delivered and it wasn't here. He basically called me a liar and said he had a picture and THEN wanted to argue that I gave the wrong address. I order from Panera all the time on their website, which I told him, and the address is correct. I have never had an issue. and he STILL wanted to argue with me! As I am on the phone with Panera (who told me they can't do anything because they use doordash) - the butthead delivers my order. Sorry, as much as I love Panera Bread I will not use Panera delivery again and I had already written off Doordash for past bad service. Attn Doordash: if your driver can't read road signs or understand basic numbers and addresses - perhaps they shouldn't be a delivery driver? Just a thought. read more
