It is a good Panera. Cleaner than most Panera's (which are usually pretty clean), good service, reasonable prices, and a great Cobb salad. This appears to be a brand new venue, but it was sorely disappointing. The lay out is very awkward, especially for someone who is disabled. I was so excited when I saw soba noodles with edamame blend on the menu. Unfortunately, every health benefit of the spinach, edamame beans, etc was lost when they added enough salt to cover 100 meals. It totally ruined the dish. We came here for a quick bite during a weekday evening. We sat out on their small patio overlooking the parking lot. It's too bad there is a big extended stay hotel blocking the river view nearby. Wife had the southwest Chile lime ranch salad with chicken, which she thought was ok, but would certainly try something else next time. I had the mac and cheese bowl. For $8, I think I'll pass on this next time as well. The noodles were cooked fine but the sauce was too creamy, and there was too much of it. I have been on a quest to find the best mac and cheese in Rochester, and while Panera's spin on it is passable, it's not worth the asking price. My wife enjoys Panera's offerings, so I am sure we will be back. I just thought it was an average experience; I dont think anything on the menu will blow your socks off. read more

Where do I begin...a couple of weeks ago with the Bacon turkey bravo sandwich that actually had no BACON (luckily I realized it before driving away). Or today my order that was just sitting at the eat in counter because no one could be bothered to actually staple the receipt to the bag & bring the order to the pick up area. If you order online or go through their drive thru, double check that you're getting everything you ordered. Having a fast breakfast at the new panera, bacon, egg & cheese on Brioche and coffee. The bacon was crispy, egg a little soft and the bread was good. A souffle looked like something I may try next time. I like that they list the calorie counts on the menu. The new place is nice, clean and service was good. This Panera location is beautiful inside, with a nice outdoor seating area when the weather allows. I commonly use the pick up option using the Panera app, so I can't speak to some of the comments about the service. I've always had a good experience. My new favorite here is the Southwest chicken salad complete with arugula, giving it a zesty flavor. The turkey cranberry flatbread is a close second favorite for me. read more

Worst counter service EVER! It does not require two staff members to take one customer order. Staffer#2 injected herself into the process and the result was a thoroughly botched order. I never did receive the drink I ordered(!) This was our second visit to this particular establishment, having been there four months earlier. On both occasions our orders were improperly made. How do you not know how to make a grilled cheese sandwich? Today's request for a Greek salad resulted in a bowl of chopped romaine lettuce with a few bits of tomato and slices of onion. No olives, no feta, and no dressing. Not happy and never going back. Save your sanity (and money) and find another restaurant. read more

They don't listen ...the food you order, while the same thing every time....is different sizes, and toppings, etc. Cannot rely on it. First day, first breakfast, new location. Really like the new place! Same food as other Pamela's, still great. I like the Mediterranean breakfast sandwich, and a light roast. Place is a great step up in location and decor, service was fast and friendly, and considering first day they had good staff. Now has a drive through need to try that out soon. Breakfast sucks at this one, rarely do they have the one breakfast item that's actually good - the Soufle's. If you're always out of the Ham & Cheese Soufle - Gee maybe you should make a few extra next time, it's like no one that cares is in charge. And the breakfast sandwiches at McDonalds are better than at this place. The famous cinnamon crunch bagles have lost their crunch. Whoever owns this place needs to go back to work. My spouse and I are in Rochester for treatment at Mayo Clinic...last evening, after a late treatment we accidentally parked in Panera's spot (didn't know)...Manager Nate called us through the motel at 5:00 am to move our vehicle or would have it towed...I spoke personally to Manager Nate about a little later call...he said he did not care...hopefully someone in his family will not be faced someday with dreadful treatments...Mayo brings huge revenue to Rochester, including Home2 Suites....our buisness will not be with Panera or in this case Manager Nate...rude and inconsiderate. This Panera is terrible -- even when compared to the old Crossroads store. The service is rude and slow, the drive-thru menu is limited (I don't know why it's not the same as what's offered inside), and my order was incorrect two of the three times I've been. Joined two friends for dinner last night, arriving at the "new" Panera's South, in Rochester, MN at about 5:30pm. Nice new location, easy parking, just a handful of customers so easy to find a table. Was able to order right away. Which became the problem... the person taking my order was completely out to lunch. TERRIBLE service. I tried to ask about 3 different sandwiches, and her consistent reply was "I've never eaten that one, so I don't know what's on it." Then she just stared at me. I mean, at first I understood, so when she said she'd never had the sandwich, I simply moved on and asked about another... and she had the same reply. And the blank stare. Same thing for the next specialty sandwich I asked about. I was wondering if I had upset her somehow, because I couldn't understand her rude detachment. My two dinner companions had already ordered, or I would have left. I mean, I was just asking about three listed "specialty" sandwiches, I just didn't know what they had on them, not an unusual question. This was a younger woman, longish brown hair, glasses - I'm not going to type out her name (out of respect for her privacy) but I am going to write the company and let them know. And the sandwich I ordered wasn't bad, just a standard turkey, nothing special. Their soup was really good, I had the Broccoli Cheddar and it was fresh and hot and tasted very good- so props on that. I used to go to Panera's here in Rochester at their old location (next to Hy-Vee South), which I found much nicer- really had a comfortable ambiance to it, somewhere I really enjoyed going. I don't remember ever getting bad service. This new location seems almost sterile, like they just want you to get a sandwich and move on. But to be honest- I wasn't really thinking about that (the decor or anything) as I spent time with my friends - we were talking about the incompetence, detachment and rudeness of the person who took 2 (out of 3) of our orders, it left such a negative impression. My summary: I think you'll probably get okay food, the question I have is: will you be able to stomach the bad service? I hope you get better service than I did. I walked into the restaurant. And was the only guest. The lady standing behind the counter did not acknowledge me, and turned her back to me to sort bagels. After standing there for a bit, another employee comes by, and does not knowledge me. The lady finally decides to turn around and ask if she can help me. I place an order for a cinnamon crunch bagel and asked it to be heated. She asked if I wanted it sliced, and I was confused because I thought they had to slice it to put it in the toasted. I was polite and said yes please. She handed me the bagel after slicing it. I though she must have misheard me, and I again asked for it to be heated up. Super disappointed. I did a rapid pick-up order today at 12:45 pm. Picked up my bag and went on my way. Was so excited for my lunch, only to find out that the strawberry poppyseed salad I ordered was covered in chicken. No, I did not order the chicken one. I know for other people this would be no big deal but I'm a vegan and this was disgusting for me. We stopped by this Panera at 8:50 pm, our GPS had brought us to the wrong location so granted it was 10 minutes before closing but we were treated rudely, we tried to order something quick so as not to inconvenience the staff. We ordered 2 toasted bagels and cream cheese to go. They said they could not toast the bagels because they had already shut off the toasters and it would take too long for them to reheat them. If you close at 9:00 please be full service until then, if not say you close at 8:30 so your staff can walk out the door at 9:00. read more
