I've had this spot on my list ever since I read the Anne of Green Gables novels when I was a young girl - and even more so since watching Anne with an E!! I loved the show so much I read all the books again afterwards lol. This actual homestead belonged to cousins of Lucy Maud Montgomery - author of all the Anne books - but it was her inspiration for the Anne universe and they've done a beautiful job decorating the inside to look just how I imagined it to look from the stories lol! LM Montgomery was one of the few female Victorian writers that found huge success in her work while still alive. Her homestead and gravesite are nearby and also definitely worth a visit - especially if you're a fan! She was quite an accomplished lady and had an interesting life. A lifelong dream location visited and it was more than I could've imagined!! I got to see Anne's bedroom, walk through the Haunted Wood, and they even sell Raspberry Cordial haha!! There are several walking trails on the grounds and I wish I had time to explore more bc they were lovely. It's easy to find, prices are very reasonable, staff are all very friendly, and there's lots to see apart from the house - they have a nice museum and LM Montgomery's gravesite and actual homestead are within easy walking distance but also a very quick drive. Pro Tip: entrance to LM Montgomery's homestead is cheaper if you buy it in the combo ticket with Green Gables and you can buy both here. They also have a little cafe here selling mostly pastries and coffee. Plenty of parking and clean restrooms. This stop is a favorite with the giant tour buses so bring your patience.

This place is kinda neat, odd and out of nowhere... I saw…read morethe signs for this place and thought what the heck... This is a very small, unmanned day park. It has a dirt drive with a "pull on the grass" parking area and picnic spot. And you can't miss the BIG wire fence. You follow this big fence and it brings you to a look out where you can see the buffalo. Granted the day I was there it was hotter than hell, at first I didn't see anything... then I saw three big things move. Low and behold with a zoom lens I got a pic of the three buffalo. According to the website there are 25, I'm guessing 22 were hiding in the shade... So I was pleased, saw a few buffalo off in a distance and got a pic... Nice little picnic area. There is a burn pit... Obviously use common sense with it on such hot dry days like the day I was there... Neat place, no staff, facilities... I guessing the people who oversee the buffalo probably see to the public access park. Oh and admission is FREE (Queen of cheap finds another one)

The market runs on Saturdays from 8 am - 12 inside Creamery Square and often has a few booths set up outside as well, along with the some local youth entertainment. The market itself is fairly small, with roughly 30 - 40 local vendors exhibiting their goods. The market is great because admission is free, and everything there is homemade from scratch. The market allows you to experience the community through the locals' crafts and talents. Things you can expect to see at the market include homemade soaps (of every scent and flavour), local paintings, fresh produce, and pictures of Tatamagouche's ever famous Old Nutby House.

But really, we all know that this is the gateway to/from Cape Breton. For me, it's great: I have loads of friends from the island and always have tons of fun when I go there. it's also nice to know I'm half-way to my final destination.
