I visited the restaurant on Sunday, April 12. Most of the ladies working there were not very engaging and did not greet me. I sat down and waited a while for someone to bring me a glass of water and a menu. It wasn't crowded. Maybe 10 people and 3-4 wait staff, including the bartender. After getting a menu, things picked up. My food was delicious. I had a garden salad with chicken and a Long Island. The drink was NICE! It has a small, neighborhood vibe. The seating is very comfortable and sensible. There is a nice view of the marina. The menu is decent. Would I visit again? Yes. I'd like to try the burger next time. They had an inviting special that night on: a burger, fries, and a soft drink. I don't remember the price, but it was worth it. Wow! An extremely rude, older female bartender was unfortunately working. I think her name was Tasha, and she was some type of manager. I've never experienced this rude of service before - here or anywhere! We come here all the time, as you can even see my boat from this bar! We've been coming here for years! Hundreds of times we've been here! If I have to put up with this rude Tasha lady, I'll never come here again! We'll go to Tom Hams- they give a 10% discount, anyway, for marina guests. Why are we going to the Hilton bar to be abused? And how embarrassing- we brought a new friend in bragging about this place/ and then were treated so rudely by Tasha. I had to swear up and down that it's not normally that way in Panorama! Not sure if he believed me after our experience. Audrey, however, ROCKS :) and completely saved the situation! Much love and thanks to Audrey! When Tasha refused to make an Irish Coffee for me because I wanted it different than the way she usually makes it, Tasha demanded that the server Audrey make it for me. We sat at the bar after a long day and it was night sometime before they closed so we decided to get some drinks and a couple salads. When I tell you this salmon Caesar salad was 10/10 delicious?! I had a handful of raspberry lemon drops and THOSE were delicious they tasted like a lemon drop candy only in a drink!!! Love love loved this bar! Speaking of the lemon drops, they originally came regular but our lovely bartender went out of her way to sweeten them up with a little raspberry and I adored her!! I really wish I got her name she was an absolute sweetheart and was quick efficient and so fun to talk to I could have talked to her all night she was so cool providing the best experience! The vibe here was a bit boujee or upscale. I don't know if it was because it was at nighttime but I luckily dressed for the occasion even at the bar! I didn't get a pic of the salads because we inhaled them but I managed to get one of her yummy cocktails and they did NOT disappoint! We stopped by around 2pm and the staff welcomed us warmly as soon as we stepped in, and at first, we were the only ones there. However, it gradually started filling up. I believe the restaurant's hours are incorrectly listed online on Google shows it opens at 5 PM, but it's actually open from the morning until 9 PM. This might why more people don't stop by. The place was clean like just remodeled, food was excellent in both quality and quantity, and the prices were reasonable. We ordered the jumbo shrimp taco, cheese pizza, and lemon cheesecake--all were delicious, but the jumbo shrimp taco was my favorite! Located in the Hilton, near the marina with a great view of the yachts, the restaurant has plenty of parking. Since we were already walking, we parked across the street. A few of us came in to warm up and have a quick cocktail before heading home after an afternoon of sailing. I sat down at the bar and was about to order a drink from the bartender when along came a waitress who pointed out a couch and insisted we move there so we could sit together (I.e. so she could have a captive group to serve and garner all the tips). I replied "No, thanks, I'm going to order my drink from the bartender and pay him directly" because I prefer to deal with a bartender, watch him make my drink, then immediately close my check. While sitting at the bar waiting for the bartender to return she hounded me into placing my order by stating 'she works with the bartender and will get my order started'. I eventually agreed and ordered a Cadillac Margarita with Jose Cuervo* and gave her my credit card (big mistake). I received my receipt and noticed a "Lrg Party 22%" charge of $3.96 in addition to the cocktail charge of $18. I immediately cancelled my order rather than haggle over the gratuity (which would have been 15-20%) because by that point I did not like her obvious ploy of trying to corral us into a group in order to what became obvious: justify the guaranteed 22% gratuity. She finally convinced me not to cancel my order by saying she would remove the 22% gratuity (which SHE DID NOT according to my credit card account, which I confirmed this morning before writing this review). *She said they did not carry Jose Cuervo so I asked what was comparable and she said "Don Julio". ANOTHER LIE!! Today I learned that "Jose Cuervo Gold is a budget-friendly, versatile tequila for mixing, while Don Julio is a higher-quality, more refined tequila often enjoyed neat or in premium cocktails". So, not only did she try to screw me by charging a "large Party Gratuity" she upsold me to a more expensive tequila! So, the bartender finally returns and starts making my drink. I noticed he pulls out and opens a brand new bottle of an unfamiliar brand of brown tequila and starts to make my drink. I said "Wait a second, she charged me for Don Julio" so he dumped the tequila and started over. I watched him add all sorts of stuff to my drink which seemed odd since I know what goes into a Cadillac Margarita (Tequila, tripe sec, lime juice and Grand Marnier). The $18 Cadillac Margarita I received was awful but by that point I was done with the Panorama and ready to go home. Neither the drink nor service warranted $18 or 22% gratuity! I believe both the bartender and waitress were in cahoots; working together to scam us by 'suggesting' we move from the bar to the couch in order to justify a "large Party gratuity", as well as, prevent us from seeing that they were using lower quality alcohol but charging for premium alcohol. I will be sharing my experience with the San Diego Airport Hilton. I hope they both get fired. read more

We walked inside the Panorama Bar and Grill lounge and when we were about to sit down for breakfast, I noticed that they had a small outdoor area where we could sit too, I chose Outdoor seating and it was beautiful, I always like dining with water views, ocean views, and beach views, it's very relaxing for me. The server came quick with a very Energetic vibe which I need on mornings, someone to wake me up more :) We chose to have: *MEAT LOVER OMELET *CHICKEN STRIPS & WAFFLES *ORANGE JUICE *COFFEE The food came out quickly. In my omelet, the egg was kind of overcooked, like it was very hard, as in seriously hard, but at least the rest that came with my Omelet was okay . My Husband's Waffle & Chicken strips were actually really good, I love how it was crispy on the outside and how moist it was on the inside, and the chicken was seasoned very well, it was very tasty, sweet, and savory. Next time we come around to this area again for our morning walk, we will definitely pass by again for their chicken strips and waffles, and also for their customer service, from the receptionist of this restaurant to our server and barista, they were very welcoming. This is the hotel restaurant for the Hilton on Harbor Island. It is one of my favorite hotel restaurant experiences. Before you begin reading this review I must explain a very important fact to you. I love restaurants that face or are in a marina. This is one such place. I also love sunsets. Sunsets over marinas are even more perfect. If you don't like marinas, sunsets, or good food, you probably won't appreciate this review. If you do, keep reading. I had never been to San Diego before. I resisted despite it being strongly recommended to me for many years. I am stubborn and hard-headed so the fact that I disagreed is not surprising. But I am older and wiser and I freakin loved San Diego. Panorama is appropriately named. Yes, there is an inside seating area and a bar seating area. But ignore those. Well, maybe don't ignore them if you are with a group. But if you are solo, ignore those rooms and sit outside along the rail with an excellent view of the marina. Look at the pictures if you don't believe me. The view is stellar. It made me question many decisions that I have made in my life. In particular, the decision to not live in a boat. Well, life is not over yet. The food is great. The burger was described to me by the server as "meaty". That was a great description as it was a thick and very juicy patty. It came with fries in a little basket and both were excellent. A burger at sunset with lots of ketchup for the fries and a view of boats? Hell yes! I also got their calamari and it was among the most fresh and flavorful calamari I have ever had. Delicious. I did try the sausage sandwich one day and didn't enjoy it as much. It was well prepared but the taste was not one I liked. Not their fault that I have never had that type of flavor before. Service was always friendly and prompt even when I was the only person outside. The only negative I could find was the price of food. But hey, it is a hotel restaurant in San Diego so that was to be expected. If you find yourself in San Diego, especially if you are at this hotel, you must eat here. If you don't have any other options, you can try it but I think you can find another place to eat in the area. At their price point, I'd think they could do a bit better. Came here for breakfast since it's apart of our hotel and we got a $30 credit. Not too bad just a little on the expensive side. House potatoes cooked to perfection, French toast was cooked well and the fruit on top was fresh. The omelette was tasty and seasoned. This evening I checked into the hotel and ordered a couple Appetizers. Moises was my server and he was pleasant, attentive and helpful. Other staff seemed friendly. I was coming to eat about 10 minutes before they reduced the menu for the last hour. The calamari came with 2 sauces, cocktail and a horseradish cocktail perhaps. I also got the spring rolls. I think the batter was a little thing and expected smaller and more of the rolls. Instead they were more like Jack In The Box egg rolls. Thick and large. They were good. First visit, sat at the restaurant part of the place not the lounge. Hubby and I had just checked in to the hotel and were ready for a bite to eat. The service from the staff was ok. They had good attitude and sat us down quickly. We ordered a need and a cocktail . My hubby ordered a beer with a slice of lime and they forgot to bring the lime- no big deal. My cocktail was yummy so no complaints on that. He ordered an 8oz steak and I ordered the chicken club with fries. His steak was cooked to his liking, but smaller than expected. The fries were cold, definitely not freshly fried at all. My sandwich looked great, but the grilled chicken looked undercooked in the center so I avoided eating it. The greens in the sandwich were cabbage slivers or small pieces and not an actual piece of lettuce which just didn't give it any more points. It's what you would expect from a hotel restaurant but not what you would expect. Not much of a breakfast person but knowing it was gonna be a long day figured that was the move to make. (Some context: We went here because we did not trust the Sheraton with breakfast, lol.) Panorama is located in the Hilton down the way from the Sheraton Bay Tower. Despite there being doors on the side of the building, since we were staying at a different hotel, we couldn't access them. We took the main entrance to the restaurant and were greeted by the maitre d. Eminem (or M&M? Sorry, I couldn't get a good look at his nametag) seated us and promptly took our order. He was polite and a pleasure to speak with. My wife got a classic breakfast, and I built my own omelet. We each had coffees as well, which beautifully hit the spot on our Sunday morning. Service did take a long time -- I'm talking 45+ minutes to receive our order -- that's really all that stands in the way of 5 stars. Perhaps the kitchen was short-staffed, because the dining room was not crowded at all. However, when we received our food, it was nicely plated and piping hot. Check out the potato medley! Every bite was delicious. The omelet was great, too. The wheat toast was served with little jars of jam, which was a nice touch. Eminem came back periodically to refill our coffees and got me a to-go cup for the road. Overall, it was just the breakfast we needed that weekend, followed by a nice walk along the marina. If you're staying at the Hilton, by all means check out Panorama for your next meal. If you're exploring the bay and want a nice sit-down breakfast, do consider them. You wouldn't think to dine in this hotel restaurant as it's sort of hidden in the Harbor/Shelter Island area, but this place pleasantly surprised me. It's very quiet because the crowds are very light -- with such a view I was shocked how empty it was during the weekend times I've come. In addition to the great view, the food was extremely fresh and well prepared. We tried lunch items (chicken club sandwich, tomato soup, fruit) and stuff from the breakfast menu. Not one old piece of fruit or stale bread; I have been to much busier places that serve you old/stale stuff but this place despite being very empty served extremely fresh food! Anyway, back to the waffle. There is no indication on the breakfast menu that they have the BEST WAFFLE EVER because it's buried in the menu items under the 2 egg combination platter which includes eggs, bacon or sausage, potatoes or fruit, toastORbagelORwaffle. Selecting waffle, I expected the typical bland Belgian style but instead i was given HEAVEN in the form of a Liege waffle. Liege waffles have a different texture, crunchy (from the caramelized sugar), chewy, and a lot more flavor. I was looking up Liege waffle recipes afterwards to understand what's typically inside and the techniques used to get this magnificent experience that separates the ordinary (Belgian waffle) from the extraordinary (Liege waffle). I have gotten Liege waffles at places that specialize in this such as Wafflejack in LA, but never would I think that a hotel restaurant would just sneak it into the menu like this as a magical blessing! read more

Week 10 in San Diego! I had the short rib tonight with mashed potatoes and veggies. It was delicious! The mashed potatoes were super buttery and rich. The short rib was tender and soft with delicious savory flavor. Sooooo tasty. Cheers to their new chef! I'm in love with his mashed potatoes. I also ordered the caramel sea salt affogato for dessert. It's a new item! I was very excited but for me, it was a touch too sweet. The flavor wasn't my cup of tea. The coffee was great. I didn't like the ice cream too much. I do love sea salt caramel! Incredibly disappointed with Panorama. I had high hopes for this restaurant; studying all of the Yelp photos and whatnot. Unfortunately this place no longer carries many of the items seen in photos here. I'm not sure what happened. First, the menu is severely truncated. All of their salads, appetizers and entrees comprise literally 11 items on the menu. That's it. I ordered the fish & chips and it looked and tasted like snack bar food. Heinz Ketchup packets atop the plate was quite tacky. My wife had the burger and it tasted like it was boiled. Really surprising that we had to make "reservations" to dine here. The setting is quite stunning, right on the marina with great views. I have to say though, it's a big fail in the culinary department. read more

I then went back the next day and asked the manager Erik to take a look at the camera directly above the drawer and he never got back to either of us. What a wonderful little spot on Harbor Island. We went to Tom's Lighthouse and decided to take a walk to Coastera's. Well we never made it. We went in to the Hilton Hotel and found "Panorama Bar & Grill" it is a small bar with an outside patio that overlooks the marina. The view is cool calm and relaxing. We found the service to be very attentive and we were treated like royalty. The drinks were made to our satisfaction and our server Luis was awesome. He was caring and always checking on us. We now plan a on staying here during the Fourth of July so stay tuned. The views are amazing and the service is pretty good. We got here in time for the entertainment which was a little lame but overall we enjoyed our first time here. Next time would be the real test when we order a full meal. Stay tuned. read more

We came here after our stay at the hotel. We received two free buffet coupons, and you know most things that are free are.... Not here! We came in around 630AM and had the place nearly to ourselves! They had a really nice setup and fresh food. The French toast is like real french toast with bits of egg over it! The bacon is huge and legit. A definite must for bacon lovers!!! They had croissants, oatmeal, eggs, potatoes, bagels and a bagel toaster. they had yogurt, they had everything you would want for breakfast!
