Panton Hill Vineyard & Winery is a well kept secret as it's not listed on many of the wine touring maps I've seen. It's a little out of the way from the main vineyards of the Yarra Valley, but is definitely worth a detour on your way to/from the Valley.
I'd suggest allowing plenty of time for tastings here, as there are a huge variety of wines to sample, including some muscats and masalas which are to die for! Being a small family run business, the service here is friendly and personal, and all of the staff that I've encountered here have been incredibly passionate about their wines.
The wood fired pizzas available here are delicious! If you have a group visiting the vineyard, it is possible to pre-arrange food such as cheese/fruit boards, and Dorothy (one of the owners) is only more than happy to accommodate any special requests.
The vineyard is really picturesque - the handmade sandstone building creates an inviting area for tastings, and there is also an outdoor seating area which is lovely to be able to enjoy a glass or two of wine and look out across the vineyard. This place is definitely worth a stop if you're in the area! read more
