This venue has been a mainstay at Leeward Community College for years and the first time I've come here since I was a student back in the day. There's plenty of parking right in front of the theater. To get to the theater there is a huge staircase to walk down or the other option is an elevator in the next building over to the left of the theater, if you're facing the theater. There are signs with arrows and easy enough to find but it is a bit of a walk because you're walking almost the full length of the other building and once you're downstairs, then need to walk the same length back to the entrance. For kupuna with arthritis issues, this can be quite the challenge. The theater lobby has a beautiful painted mural upon entering. To get to you seat, once again, everything's stairs up, then down. Women's restroom, down a short flight of stairs. The knees were practically screaming from all the stairs. The theater seats are nicely laid out and space between each row is good where one can comfortably walk to your seat without having to squeeze thru. Both times I went, we had good seats. The first time was in G12/G13, about midway and the 2nd time was seats C30/31 closer, left stage. The theater does get cold as the performance progresses so good idea to bring a jacket/sweater. The play itself was great! There was a cast of about 30, some were students and some actors with previous experience. It was a good play for the whole family with the happy musical numbers, actor interaction with the audience, and comedy. Add to the fact it was done local style with pidgin. The only problem we had was you couldn't hear a lot of the cast members no matter which seat you were at because not all of them were wearing microphones. The main characters were but some of the supporting cast that had speaking lines, you couldn't hear at all. This made it very frustrating to hear the play. I had mentioned it to the gal at the box office when I went the 2nd time. Especially at the start of the play when the bufo were speaking to the audience. I couldn't hear them at row G. Row C was better but not by much. I can only imagine folks in the seats further up couldn't hear anything at all. Overall, enjoyable play. The LCC theater is a beautiful venue with the layout of the seats. The drawbacks are too many stairs to get to your seat and hard to hear this wonderful performance.

The seats are leveled upward from the first row so everyone can see, but if someone is right in front, they somewhat block your view, especially if you want to take pictures or video from your phone. Parking is abundant since it is LCC, and right in front of the theater. There are stairs going down to the entrance with a huge sign right above.

Highly Recommend Hawaii MusicWorks!…read more When I first inquired about beginner keyboard lessons for my son, I spoke with Aunty Dale. She is incredibly sweet and sets such a positive tone--it's clear from the start how wonderful this place is! My son looks forward to his weekly group keyboard lessons with Mr. Mark. Learning alongside friends makes the sessions fun! He really enjoys getting to choose the songs he learns to play. In my son's words, Mr. Mark is "patient, caring, and nice." It's evident that he truly cares about his students. When my son felt stressed over a school assignment he didn't understand, Mr. Mark actually went out of his way to help him. He was so happy to tell me about it. Happy kid, happy mom--Hawaii Music Works has been a fantastic experience for us!

From the very beginning, the lessons were a place where my boys could not only grow musically but also build confidence, express themselves freely (often with a bit of silliness!), and connect with positive adult role models who genuinely care about their well-being. Mr. Mark and Ms. Kira have consistently gone above and beyond--taking an interest in my sons' lives outside of music, encouraging their involvement in concert and marching band, and even supporting them through private school admission processes by authoring recommendations. Aunty Dale has provided consistent communication about scheduling and payment while always offering a welcoming smile to students and families as they walk thru the door. Over the years, Mr. Mark, Ms. Kira and Aunty Dale have celebrated milestones with us, offered guidance during challenging times, and shown a level of dedication that make them an extension of our family. Their presence throughout my sons' childhoods has made a lasting impact--one that goes far beyond notes on a page. If you're looking for instructors who are not only talented musicians and teachers but also compassionate mentors, you will find no better.

A quick Google search led me to Sarah and "Wanna Hula?", and it was an awesome experience from the moment I contacted her, all the way to the end of my lesson. She was very quick with responding to my inquiries and I was able to arrange a private class for my friend and me at Magic Island. Hula on the beach...can there be anything more awesomely Hawaii than that? The meeting location was clearly indicated so it was easy to find and Sarah was even early for our lesson. She was great about offering suggestions on where to hold the class (comfort, view, etc.) and had the lyrics to all three of the songs I had inquired about printed up for us too. For the next hour, my friend and I got a dance tailored to our dancing experience/ability (I have danced on and off since I was 5 yrs old and my friend had NEVER done hula in her life) and I can't believe that we were taught an entire song in only an hour! We got the video recording add-on and Sarah provided a tripod that works with cameras and phones so it was easy to record the dance. The video is going to be so handy to review when I get back home :) I can't recommend this enough, especially since this will be much better souvenir of your vacation than a tiki doll or a pineapple mug :-P

She makes it fun for all of us to learn hula, and I think it's fascinating to learn that there are descriptions and meaning behind every move! I have personally watched Sarah teach beginners, and have them dancing, pretty good I might add, within minutes. She has great people skills and is very easy to work with. I would recommend Wanna Hula especially for beginners who may not consider themselves dancers, yet need to be 'up and dancing' in a short time. 2 thumbs up for Sarah Chang and Wanna Hula!

I've heard of Studio 808's dance programs but have never taken a class until I heard about the Zumba class being offered there. You can take the stairs or elevator to the 2nd floor and reach the studio on the Leeward Drive-Inn side. Once arriving, there is a front desk area set up in front of the studio where people were manning. You can pay in cash or Venmo (I did the mobile pay option because I didn't have cash). Fortunately, Studio 808 has also catered the Zumba class as a remote class so you can actually sign up for the class and dance from home by watching the instructor. Upon arriving to the class, the room was overall clean and spacious. Because the class is also done virtually, there wasn't many people in the room. The Zumba instructor was Erin and I have nothing but great things to say about him. As someone who isn't a dancer, Erin was kind enough to teach the lessons via virtual cam and in-person. The overall class was a lot of fun and I enjoyed the music better at Studio 808 compared to the Zumba classes I take at 24 Hour Fitness. I would definitely recommend to go with Erin because he's exudes positive energy, always smiles while breaking a sweat and definitely knows what he's doing. I was even watching the participants online (who were older folks) and they seemed to thoroughly enjoy the class at home as they would in studio. If you're up for doing a Zumba class in Waipahu (or simply at your own home), I would definitely recommend this class to take. Admission is about $7 per class but the first class is free! Classes are every Tuesday from 6-7pm.
