I was charged over 900 dollars before the work was done. On the first day, plumber Mark told me he didn't had proper tool to fix my pipes. Before he left, he took a photo of my credit card because there are ppl refuse to pay after the work is done. The very next day, I was charged 850 plus tax (over 900 dollars). Later, a plumber showed up but didnt know he was supposed to replace the copper pipe. I told me I'd like to see the replacement (that's how I find out he didn't replace the pipe). I told him I was charged for pipe replacement. So he had to do the work. After the plumber left, I feel the sink is backing up. I asked the office to give me an invoice with detail description but I haven't received one. It has been a month now. it was recommended by my insurance company too :(. read more

Papa technician, Cash, came the next day, fixed the problems, cleaned up wonderfull, and fixed an outside hose that was cracked. Our furnace quit, Papa sent out a tech, unfortunately our furnace was 35+ years old and parts were no longer available, they came back 2 days later with a crew (Kirk & Fred) with a new furnace. The guys were great, very knowledgeable, good craftsmen and all around nice guys. They did a great install, very clean and great work at or above code. I called their company to diagnose a leak on my master washroom upstairs that is leaking downstairs to the main kitchen. Their technician came, went upstairs and poured water around the shower walls (tiles) and was able to show the leak that was active from upstairs to downstairs. The technician stated on his report that the "tile gaps on the walls are causing the leak and the water goes to the cavity that leads to the leak downstairs". Their technician recommended to remove and install new tiles to fix the issue. However, I called a different company to check about fixing the issue. I told this company that PAPA plumbing recommended to have the tiles removed. They inspected the tiles and there was no "gap" in the tiles or with the grout and they were confused about the "plumber's report". They poured water the same way PAPA plumbing did it, and figured out that the caulking around the shower surround was the issue, including all the caulking in the shower heads. They recommend re caulking to fix the issue and nothing to do with the tiles. I called PAPA plumbing about this, and I got a very rude response from Kawaljit Singh who was very condescending upon me explaining about their misdiagnosis. He stated that they only give permanent recommendations when it comes to water leaks, hence, retiling. I wouldn't have used their services in the first place if their diagnosis would just lead me to doing the wrong thing. If the company misdiagnose a leak and give the homeowner the wrong information, what's the point of trusting this "reliable" business. I even offered them to come back to my house and redo what they did previously, but Kawaljit Singh turned down this idea. He does not make you finish talking, he talks over you and is extremely rude and unprofessional. It is unbelievable for this business to have this individual working for them. The person i spoke to, Kawaljit Singh, threatens me that he would not give me a refund if I file a complaint with BBB. He sounds very unprofessional and does not know customer service at all. I paid money for an honest reliable service, and trusted professionals, according to their website. But what I got was the exact opposite. Had issues with my radiant heat, and a water pipe bursting which lead to no heat in my house...we are in December, so it was freezing. I called PAPA plumbing for the first time, staff attended within the time slot provided. The staff member was courteous and listened to the issues I was having. The staff was very knowledgeable and provided a resolution with what needed to be replaced/fixed. Parts were replaced promptly, and my system was up and running the same morning. Jamie and his crew were totally awesome. We had just updated 2 bathrooms but left the original tub/shower. We experienced a leak shortly after behind the existing shower surround and called Papa's and they sent Jamie that afternoon. They had to break thru the surround to get to the problem, which was devastating after reno's. Jamie promised he could get on the issue right away and reinstall a new tub and tiling. While the bathroom was going to be gutted as that is where the flood happened, we decided to take out the tub and put in a proper shower for my husband who is in a wheelchair. Called Top up Plumbing which turned out to be Papa Plumbing (Surrey) Also did not know this as Cal (the owner or manager) failed to mention this. He was rude during my initial call. I was given Cal's intact info from First on Site Restoration as they had come to disconnect sinks for our restoration. On Dec 28/21 a Papa Plumbing plumber showed up and hydro jetted with cable system which pulled out muck into a bag. He dropped and left muck on the concrete floor and dropped muck into my husbands winter boots. He did not tell us that he did that and put his boots outside. Also we have a doorbell outside the back door and he knocked it off and put it outside the carport area into a planter. Again not telling us he did that. There was lots of snow outside so it was by chance it was found but after we went and bought another doorbell. He also unhooked the hot water to the washer to put in the washing machine drain to test the flow of the drain. He failed to tighten it so when washer turned on water flowed onto the floor. we called to complain about all of it and we're told we would receive 10% back from the total bill of $582.50. This has not happened. Called and asked for Cal to call to discuss this and no callback as yet. I do have photos to back up these complaints. Would not recommend! read more

At the time where I had problem with my toilet not refilling a while ago called PAPA. The plumber sent over replaced the worn out and busted unit. Took about 1/2hr and Cost was $250+ for parts and labour. After replacing this, the plumber stated that the toilet itself would need to be replaced soon. A few months later now, the toilet now continually leaks water from the upper tank into the water outflow and has to refill once about 20% down. It used to do this every 10mins or so, now this happens about every 2 minutes. Since that time I have started to become more hands on and DIY, and become much more knowlegable about and comfortable with plumbing, electrical, electronics etc. So this morning I got mad and actually checked the toilet out carefully. Turns out the plumber didn't install a key part of the kit I paid for which was to replace the rubber stopper over the outflow that drops in when the tank is full. This stopper which was original kit has gone soft as an elastic band by now, and has visible small holes plus a small 'hump' in one portion breaking the seal and allowing the water to flow out and down the drain. Here's what REALLY cheeses me off. The RETAIL cost of the kit itself? $25-$30 at Home Depot. What should have been a $100 job tops under a legit plumber nearly tripled, and left me with a toilet I would have to 'eventually replace'. Since he didn't do a complete job and left the rotten rubber stopper in place, I can only assume he was counting on my freely declared ignorance at the time to force me in a short while to buy a new toilet, almost certainly through them. Instead I will be driving to Home Dept and purchasing a new stopper for about $5. A single incident wouldn't rate a 1 star, it's entirely possible that it was a new/bad plumber who was since fired, however there was a second. Some time later I had a faucet to be replaced. The PAPA rep said that the type of faucet we use requires an unusual fitting, and the one he found and quoted me was nearly $1000. When I said forget it, 10 mins later he calls back and says he "Just found one that will fit and only costs $350 including labour!". Real class acts they have over there. I see some glowing reviews here. I am sure they do good actual plumbing work, but many of the one and two star reviews sound an awful lot like mine. It seems that if you don't know at least a little bit about what your problem is, they will take you to the cleaners if they can. Either have at least a little plumbing knowlege before calling PAPA, or use one of the many 5 starred plumbers here. read more

Called on a Sunday and had a fast phone answer, which was great. They said they could come Monday but that didn't work for us so we settled on a time for Tuesday. Seemed like a great start until no one showed up Tuesday. After a half hour waiting I called them only to be told someone had written us in for Weds (when we were not even available). After putting us on hold they suddenly said they could come in the next hour, so we thought that was ok. Except again no show, so we will be going with someone more reliable. They may do ok or even great service if they show up but we will never know...thank goodness this wasn't a real water emergency. read more

My previous review got hidden so here it is again. Yes this was a long time ago but I still feel totally ripped off. I stumbled on an old receipt from Sept 2004 and it still gets me upset. I had two pipes with pinhole leaks repaired (section was replaced with flexible pipe) and while he was here, I had the pressure reducing valve replaced and a whole house water filter (connected at the same point) removed. Total for about 1 hr of work and maybe $100 in parts - $891.31 with no itemized bill (parts, labour and tax not separated out) The technician on the bill is Kal. Since I found them through the BBB with an ad boasting "reasonable rates", I called the BBB to complain and they indicate they don't handle issues with rates charged. read more

I found him to be friendly and knowledgeable but found the job more expensive than another quote I was given by a different company. During the cold snap we had earlier, our old furnace kicked the bucket. I called Papa Plumbing and they came right away. They gave us a reasonable quote and were able to install and complete the job the very next day. I found the technician to be super friendly and very knowledgeable... They even gave us a new thermostat. Sweet. Now we can cuddle on the couch in Warmth, Thx PAPA! I was going to give 5 star but I did hear a curse word while working. Good job though. read more

On December 29th 2017 our radiant heat stopped working and we did not have any hot water. We called Papa Plumbing to come and resolve our problem to which they came on January 2 2018 to take a look at our problem. I had already done some research on the internet as to what the issue might be so when they came I asked them to check the thermostat and the zone valves. They did neither and said that in order to fix the heat all they had to do was flush the hot water tank. I paid them and a few hours later it was obvious that this did nothing. I called Papa Plumbing and spoke to Kal and told him that this did not resolve the issue - they came back and said a valve needed to be replaced and the system needed to be flushed again. I paid them and a few hours later it was obvious that the heat was still not working. I called them back and told them that my heat was still not working. They sent their supervisor who claims to have 20 years experience who spent most of his time complaining about how sick he his than actually working. Without doing any diagnostics or checks he stated it had to be the pump despite my requests for him to check the zone valves and the thermostat. He left and came back a couple of days later and replaced the pump and again flushed the hot water tank. I paid him and a few hours later it was obvious that the heat was not working. I called Papa Plumbing again and spoke to Kal who at this point refused to come back and do any more work at my house. I was taken aback by this as I paid to get my heat fixed and they were refusing to come and do this. I repeatedly asked Kal why not and he stated because they had already been to our house numerous times. To which I stated but I paid you to fix my heat and it still isn't working so what did I pay for? How do I know what you guys fixed/replaced were actually broken and needed replacing? Kal said I am a plumber and have been doing this for over 20 years and that you are not a plumber and you don't know what you are talking about. I agreed I am not a plumber and asked him what did I pay for since nothing they did fixed my problem. I don't know why he was being so rude and disrespectful? so I requested he come and look at our problem and he said he would come with the supervisor the following Monday. They never showed up and my heat was still not working and over two weeks had passed by this point. After repeated calls and conversations with Kal, they never came back and he spoke to me like I was not worth the time. Very aggressive and rude, constantly talking over me and saying "you are not a plumber" not sure why we had to repeatedly establish the fact that I am not a plumber to which point I stated "this is why I called Papa Plumbing to fix my heat problems but it is obvious that Papa Plumbing does not really know what they are doing other than taking advantage of unsuspecting people by charging them inflated prices and in my case, fixing things that potentially did not need fixing. Kal asked me how I know it didn't need replacing to which I replied because my heat still did not work. Kal said you are not a plumber, my guys would not replace something if it did not need replacing. This comment makes no sense since not one of his plumbers ran any type of diagnostic other than touch a pipe or two. I ended up calling a different plumber who came and after physically doing some checks realized that it was in fact the thermostat that needed to be replaced. The heat is now working. This took less than one hour. I called Kal to tell him that I got the heat fixed and that it was the thermostat and he said "what do you want me to do about it?" and "what do you want now?" as if I did something wrong. This is by far the worst customer service and I do not know how BBB can give them an A+ rating...RIDICULOUS. Regardless, I requested a refund for whatever they did because of the unprofessional behaviour, extremely poor customer service, living in cold for that period of time, etc. Kal initially stated I will give you $50, I requested he give me $600 which is half of what I had paid him. He laughed at me and hung up. I called him back and he said he will think about it and get back to me. He never called me back. I called Kal a few days later and suggested $200 was more than enough and fair. I stated I have been in the cold dealing with this for over three weeks and I am the one chasing you to get some resolution. I have called Kal a couple of times since than to get some resolution and he refuses to refund me and has never called me back. Part of the reason we called on Papa Plumbing was because last year we had an issue with our furnace and Papa came and replaced the entire furnace for a pretty penny (every plumber I have spoken to since then has stated we were way overcharged). After the furnace was replaced my problems still existed and Papa plumbing said that it was a zone valve that needed to be replaced. Did my furnace really need to be replaced? read more

I wish that I could give a ZERO rating!!!! My mother in law was having trouble with her showers. The water was coming out of the shower head and faucet at the same time. So pressure was low and ran out of hot water before she could finish a shower. She called Papa Plumbing after she found their ad on some paper and they offered free estimates. The plumber came out and he told that the taps there were old and you can't even get replacement parts. He didn't even look into anything. My sister in law who lives with my mother in law thought it might be nice to have a single mixer and get rid of the hot and cold water dual handle systems. This of course would mean removing and replacing some of the tiles. He gave them a quote on the plumbing portion and that he could probably get someone to do the tile part. The quote for the plumbing was $950 and $550 for the tiling in each bathroom. A total of $3000. He said that the cost for the estimate was $95 and said to let him know if they want the work done. My mother in law said "no" to the estimate cost and showed him the ad stating free estimates. He was unaware of this and had to call in and have it verified. My sister in law called to tell me the cost and what was going on. I was shocked at the price and thought was strange he didn't even look into anything. I decided to look into the company and was not at all surprised to find that they were not too favoured. I spoke with my son who is an hour away from grandma not 4 hours like we are. He spoke with a plumber friend of his and was told it sounds like an easy fix, probably an O ring. My son went out on the weekend, bless him. Took the diverter cartridges out and found that sure enough the O rings were disintegrated. He ran to the hardware store. Could have bought a pack of O rings for $5. He ended up replacing the whole cartridge only because of the age. He spoke with a man from the hardware store and he said that these things will always be around, speaking of the cartridges. Total cost $70. I am so glad that they didn't have the work done by Papa's. Taking advantage of an 87 year old woman. Shame on this company. read more

Very disappointed. Picking these guys was a $200 mistake. When I called to book, I was told $189 would be charged for the initial visit, but that fee would be credited against any work done to fix the problem afterwards. The service guy was fine and identified the issue, but things quickly went downhill from there. Turns out I could only get my credit if I accepted a massive lump-sum job price that included some work that was definitely optional. Somehow the failure of a $60 part became a $700 job, take it or leave it, and in the meantime my boiler had been disassembled by the service tech. Real nice. The owner (Kal) was evasive, blunt, and unpleasant. It's one thing to have a quotation and business policy, but it's another thing to change the rules halfway through the game. Avoid these guys, or get everything in writing up front! read more

Be careful of this company. They make you pay before the service is performed and charge you twice. I called them with the project manager Calvin promising to refund, and I waited ten days. Not refund was made so I called again and was promised that they will call me back and refund me by end of that day, which is March 17th 2015. Nobody called and they called me twice on that day! I only found out when I check my credit card statement. Mind you, through out the whole thing, there was no apology. They were referred by Service Master Inc and I am 100 happy with Service Master, but am confused as to why they would recommend a company with such a poor customer service and lack of ethic. I'm not sure why I even see one bad review for this company. I'm shocked! We had an amazing experience and great service. Our 15 year old hot water tank spurned a small leak so we knew it needed to be replaced asap. We emailed through Yelp for a quote. Within five minutes, I was given a great price and called for an appointment. An hour later, we had a plumber named Dale arrive on our doorstep. He was polite, courteous, professional, and knowledgable. We are neat freaks and have cream carpet on our staircase and in our basement. We had the basement painted recently. I was stressed the tank would spoil the carpet or catch our walls. Our technician was respectful our our property and not even one knick or drip. The tank was installed in around an hour and ten minutes. We now have hot water! I cannot stress enough how grateful I am and how I'm referring anyone with plumbing concerns to Papa plumbing! Im a skeptic when I see glowing reviews about companies and think ahh a relative. I am not related to, nor am I affiliated with this company. I am just a very happy consumer in Cloverdale who highly recommends this company. I called Papa plumbing to fix my broken furnace during the recent cold spell. They came the same day removed my old blower motor and came back the next day and replaced it with the new one, we were without heat for only a day. Cost was $550 for the full job which doesn't seen that unreasonable for a blower motor. The tech was fast And friendly, all and all it was a good job, I would try them again. read more

I phoned this company because we had a gas leak, the guy who came out on the call did not introduce himself and had no visible identification on him, (unlike Fortis). within minutes of looking at the furnace he said we needed a new furnace, about $4,000.00 He proceeded to clean the burner on the furnace with a bit of emery cloth and reassembled the burner. He was in the house for about an hour and charged $550.00 plus tax. I phoned. their head office the next day to inquire about their charges. The manager defended the bill and said I was paying for the technicians skill as well as the time it took. Their bill is not itemized regarding time or hourly rate charged and they used no spare parts. This is a company to stay well away from, their charges are beyond exorbitant, The man who did the work never offered to show me his Gas licence. The furnace failed to work at all the same day and left us without heat. Never again. read more

NEVER EVER CALL this company for your plumbing needs. I requested a certified professional plumber and the company sent out a trainee who did not even recognize the flagged water shut-off valve. Twenty minutes later, absolutely nothing was done and they, Paul and Kal, tried to charge me $189.00 plus GST for a water shut-off that was not done. I protested and I was still forced to pay $95.00 plus GST for the service call that came with no service. I then arranged for Latham's Heating & Plumbing to provide the required service. No problem, the technician found the water shut-off right away and the job was complete within an hour and half. When I called Papa's for a full refund and asked for the owner/manager, my call was transferred to Kal. Kal is a total moron. He is belligerent and so ignorant that he should never be dealing with customer complaints nor any other issues a customer may have. He even hung-up on me. But I didn't let this moron deter me, and I finally received my refund. Also, should you ever have either one or both in your home, never turn your back to them. Watch them both like a hawk. We feel totally ripped off by these guys. I called them up and the guy on the phone said there is a minimum charge of $380. Then the guy comes and blaming poor quality of the existing plumbing and saying it's big job. He called his boss on the phone and made us sign contract for $1500. The next morning, a different guy comes, called his boss again and now it's $2400. It took them less than 1/2 hour to fix the broken valve fitting. So they basically charged us $5000 per hour. read more
