This was my first visit to Papamigos, but certainly won't be my last! We started with the Birria Mac Daddy sliders, which were huge and tasted great. We then shared the spicy tuna taco & the sushi burger. Both had very fresh ingredients, but I expected the taco to have a bit more flavor to. It was just standard cubed fish with some spicy mayo drizzled on top--I'm used to having the tuna tossed in the sauce prior. The main reason for our visit was the sushi burger, which certainly did not disappoint. The two crispy rice buns were cooked perfectly and made for a great base for the fresh fillings within. These often sell out, so be sure to check if they're still available when you arrive. Can't wait to try them again! read more

Pile High Nachos with Birria -- The Sloppy Nacho -- 3/10 (2 Stars on Yelp) I only review nachos. Not the room, not the drinks, just the plate. Papamigos gave me the best looking plate of nachos I've ever been served, and one of the worst to actually eat. It arrives as a mountain, and credit where it's due, nobody has ever set a better looking plate of nachos in front of me. Colored chips, birria up the sides, drizzle over the peak. It's a fiesta. It's genuinely beautiful. It's also called Pile High, which in hindsight was the menu warning me, and me ordering it anyway. Stupid Nacho Man. The thing about a pile is it has exactly one move: down. Every good thing, the fresh pico, the peppers that actually have real heat, all of it, is stacked on the summit. So you get three glorious bites of a real nacho and then you're off the mountain and into the badlands. Dry chips on one side, cold cheese swamp on the other, no peppers in sight. The party was on top and you already ate it. Depression sets in. Somewhere under all that queso is a chip that knows what happened to Jimmy Hoffa. Here's the real tragedy. The queso is actual flowing nacho cheese, and there is an absolute ass load of it. Nineteen plates I've spent begging South Florida to use real nacho cheese, and Papamigos finally did, then dumped so much on that it drowned the pico, the peppers, and the meat. I'm not saying the kitchen was in a hurry (I was the only person there), I'm saying someone back there said "f*** it" like John McClane going off the Nakatomi roof and dumped an ocean of molten cheese on this thing. I am not exaggerating for effect. I wish I were. And the whole thing came out room temperature. Only two things on that plate were hot, the queso and the meat, and they had to warm an entire mountain by themselves while a pile of cold chips mugged them for their heat. They lost that battle faster than France surrendering (in about two minutes.) The shredded cheese at the bottom never melted at all, because it was sitting under a cold pile on a plastic boat you can't exactly slide into an oven. Check the photos, there's a queso stalactite hanging off the rim. It formed on the way to the table and was still hanging there twenty minutes later, purely out of spite. Then there's the meat. I ordered the birria. Five dollar upcharge, it's on the receipt. What showed up was pot roast. Gray, no chile, no adobo, none of what makes birria birria. Check the photos and compare it to a real one. I'm not going to tell you what's in anybody's head. I'll just say the menu said birria, the receipt charged me for birria, and the plate said pot roast. You do the math. Credit where it's due, the server took twenty percent off without me asking. Though the birria upcharge was five bucks and the discount was four-forty, so I still paid for the pot roast. Just at a slight discount. I did not finish it. I've left plates before when they beat me on sheer volume, and honestly that's a compliment. This one I walked away from with room left in the tank. I left still hungry, and I would rather be hungry. Twenty-two dollars for a third of a plate. Four peppers a fire does not make. This dish is a dumpster fire without the heat. All of it is fixable. Heat the chips, layer it instead of stacking it, ease up on the queso, and put actual birria on the birria. Until then, I'm giving this a hard pass. -- Florida Nacho Man read more

I really enjoy this place! It's amexicak Japanese fusion casual restaurant which is perfect when you have a partner or friend who does not want sushi but you do! Best 2 cuisines out there in 1 place I really loved the sushi burger. The rice patties were delicious and the raw fish was fresh and delicious. Best happy hour I've been to. First, the waitress, Sam (Samantha), an absolute doll. Sweet, personable, friendly and attentive. It was a little too cold for us inside, so we chose to sit outside, which was quiet and relaxing. I brought mom here because she kept talking about wanting Oysters. I'm a simple man, when it comes down to Mexican food what makes or breaks for me is the burritos. And this place? Its succeeds exponentially. Great decor, ample seating inside and out, and friendly service make this place a great family outing or even a nice stop for happy hour. They were running a $5 drink special on their strawberry margarita on the rocks, and it didn't disappoint - perfect size and strength. Their pile high nachos are seriously piled high. My husband and I shared the nachos and wings, and between us we couldn't finish. The kids ordered a chicken adobo burrito platter and a shrimp tempura sushi roll to share. Great Mexican food! I got the Irie and Birria street tacos and both were fantastic! The Birria comes with a dipping broth which made it feel like a French dip. The pickled onions on the irie was a nice addition. The mexi deviled eggs are a MUST!! Drink- the jalapeño pineapple margarita with tajin rim was not too spicy, which was perfect for me. You can tell when someone genuinely loves what they're serving, and it makes all the difference. The flavors? OUT. OF. THIS. WORLD. The buffalo chicken egg rolls are non-negotiable - and you must ask for blue cheese with them. Trust me. The birria taquitos were phenomenal - rich, savory, perfectly balanced. Papamigos is one of my go to restaurants in Broward. There is something for everyone on the menu and you will never leave hungry. I will say that I prefer pickup as the service is usually slow regardless of it being busy or not. I made it in time for the tail end of the happy hour and ordered their wings. Wings were crispy,meaty, and delicious. They didn't have bbq as a flavor but i asked if they had something like asian bbq, and they made it happen! They even added some black/white sesame seeds and green onion. AMAZING. I ordered the tuna nachos and holy moly! You get what you pay for. It was a tower of nachos. I asked for them to hold the jalapeños and add pickeled onions. They happily accommodated my requests. I felt like the quality of the food was a 10/10 too. The service was excellent and what stood out to me was that the manager or owner (i'm not sure which) was very attentive and actually helping his team. You just don't see that anymore. Kudos to him. Eh. Second visit on taco Tuesday. The service was really slow. They did seem understaffed so I had sympathy but everything took a very long time. We started with margaritas and guacamole. The margaritas were great and are 4 dollars off on taco Tuesday. The guacamole was really not good. It was basically unseasoned mashed avocado with a teaspoon of chopped tomatoes, cilantro and jalapeños on top. No onions, no salt, and needed lime. The taco special is $4 per street taco but you have to order 3 and all must be the same kind. I got birria tacos my boyfriend got "the butcher" which is Carne asada. The birria tacos were overstuffed with meat and the consume was really tasty. I do wish they were more crisp but it would probably be difficult with how much meat they filled them with. I really wanted to give this place a good review. I honestly will have to try them again because a couple friends of mine said they were good. That was not our experience...but maybe the chefs were overwhelmed, as we were a group of 15 on top of the rest of their customers on a Saturday night. First of all they were out of some ingredient they needed for green tea shots. My friend always orders shots for our group. So he asked for some tangerine shot that I can't find on the menu, but it was not a good substitute - definitely nowhere near as delicious. My friend got a berry drop martini that she couldn't finish because she said it was dreadful. Now food wise, my friend ordered the birria taquitos for everyone and that was super delicious - everyone liked those and they were eaten down to the crumb. I ordered the Gringo Burrito with white rice and beef and as you can see by the pic, they really stuffed it with rice and not much else. Also, the burrito was so wet that it fell apart before I could even lift it off the plate. There were only a few people in my group that were happy with what they ordered. Friends ordered Carne asada fries and adobo pulled chicken and were not impressed, they chose not to take any home. My other friend ordered the birria burrito and she was happy with hers. The churros were good, everyone enjoyed those. Also, Gavin was our server. He was great!! He didn't miss a beat and attended to us with a smile and got all our orders right, and all our bills came back correct as well. Given that it was getting late, I decided to venture out with the family to try Papamigos in Coconut Creek! Going inside, there was a good amount of people inside and more coming in as we left, which is always a great sign. Moving on with my review; it's been a hard time to find a Mexican spot that stands out recently; but, this might be the one. Both entrees, despite the prices, were generous in size! I loved the birria beef quesdilla as it was grilled perfectly, packed with super juicy/tender shredded beef, and melted cheese! The burrito overall packed a lot of flavor between the seasoned yellow rice, guac, citrus cumin marinated beef, cilantro, and tomatoes. My only critique was that the beef was kind of tough, but I still enjoyed the burrito very much. Overall, Pappamigos on the surface just seems like an ordinary Mexican restaurant, but I do find that their menu is unique and the food Is very fresh. Grabbed some lunch today with a friend who came to the area and I wouldn't usually recommend Papamigos because I find it kinda pricey for a quick bite to eat but a lot of places are closed Mondays. We came here maybe 3-4 years ago and I remember being a little sticker shocked for the food so we didn't really come back. Today we got there at 11:30, were the only ones in there for like 30 minutes but it was great because we got to do a lot of catching up and didn't need too much attention right away. We ordered the chip and salsa and forgive me but we must be babies because the salsa had quite a kick so we asked the waiter if they had a different one or could get us a new one but it was premade. We got the guacamole instead and it was good. I got the Birra Tacos because I do remember getting Birra the first time we came and it was good. Ordered from Papamigos as delivery and was super impressed! I got the Birria quesadilla and oh my god it was huge and stuffed with meat and cheese I couldn't even finish it there was much. It was delicious they used mozzarella cheese instead of the traditional Oaxaca cheese that usually find in Birria tacos or quesadillas it defintely made it feel extra cheesy being replaced with mozzarella. The Birria consume was delicious and flavorful though. Just wished it was a different cheese. It was also a relatively quick delivery as the food arrived hot. Papamigos has quickly become my go to spot for outstanding tacos and margaritas! The bartenders are very attentive and interactive. You can tell they are seasoned professionals and craft some of the best margaritas I've ever had! The tacos are a must, specifically the gringo and Birria. The nachos are also a fave because they understand the importance of layering the nacho ingredients so each bite has a little bit of everything. The place is very clean and always seems to be playing my favorite music. Anytime I can drink and "chair bop" makes for a good experience! They also have TV's that play the latest sporting event, but not at an obscene volume.
