We visited on a Sunday evening and it was a poor experience all around. It was distinctly below average in every way possible. From the service to the food to the ambience. Every dish was incredibly salty and a poor take on the authentic flavors of tapas. Not only was the service slow, but they forgot dishes we had ordered as well as our drinks. I mentioned to my partner how dirty the women's bathroom was when I used it and he mentioned the peeguard that was on top of the cabinet when he took our son to use the men's bathroom. I was really hoping for a better experience after saying it was only a 4.1. I usually like to give these types of places the benefit of the doubt and try them anyways, and it just left us regretting visiting. read more

Honestly a very mediocre paella. It reminded me of when I went to Colorado and got peas and carrots in my egg drop soup in a buffet. In the same fashion, this one had peas. I don't know what it is about peas and carrots in places I don't think should have peas and carrots, but it just tastes bad and sucks. The paella also had splashes where I could taste the alcohol because it hadn't been cooked thoroughly, and some places where it was very tasty (very few spots). For something that takes so long to cook, you would think they would wait to cook out the alcohol taste completely. The seafood selection reminds me of frozen mixed seafood packets you get at the super market. Despite the yellow color, it was bland and reminded me of the paella they served at my school's cafeteria. The restaurant was cute though. read more

I made reservations a week in advance for four of us. There was plenty of free parking in the lot in front. The menus were very appealing, everything looked delicious. We ordered our seafood paellas in advance as it takes an hour to prepare. We started with sangrias and lots of different tasty tapas. The empanadas and croquettes were delicious. For dinner, we shared a huge seafood paella with a lobster tail, shrimp, clams, mahi-mahi, mussels, and calamari. The seafood was sweet and just melted in our mouths. The complementary pistachio flan was amazing. Service was impeccable, and our dinner was memorable. We were not rushed. We enjoyed sitting and chatting a little bit after dinner. read more

We tried a lot of different plates at Papa's Tapas. We started off with a few drinks - the Spanish Mule was mostly ice for $17. We pre-ordered the vegetable paella - it was okay, bland - better as a left over the next day. The empanadas (beef and chicken) were decent. Spanish olives were not that good. A few of the dishes were tasteless and oily, like the tiny pieces of chicken in the pollo ajillo and the sautéed pulpo (octopus). The chorizo al jerez was just okay. Probably the best dish was the pork montadito - shredded pork on a baguette. I was disappointed. I ate at Papa's about 4 years ago and I remember it being much better. read more

Went for happy hour on Friday and wasn't busy, which was nice. The happy hour menu wasn't that exciting but the empanadas and the chorizo quesadillas were on there for six dollars and those were both very good. We got the lamb chops that were market price ended up being $48 . They were good . The octopus unfortunately tasted like it was from a can or boiled but very fishy and slimy. I actually sent it back because it was inedible . The server grace looked at me like I had three heads when I told her I didn't like it and I actually had to ask her if I can send it back or get something else instead of her offering like any other place would have meanwhile I only took one bite of it. Ordered the red sangria, which just tasted like cheap red wine. We had to actually ask for sweetener just to try to make it taste a little more like sangria. Everything tasted so good!! The seafood platter was chef's kiss, the calamari was Great. The lamb... plantain... EVERYTHING!! I am giving the food 4 stars because of one specific reason (in my opinion) it was too salty. Just like when you adding spice(hot peppers ) in the food, you have to be mindful of every single person that will be eating it, to me Salt is the same. Don't get me wrong, I am not saying that the food wasn't great. On the other hand, everything was cooked to perfection tasted delicious, but the salt was also a lot. Absolutely outstanding! Came here specifically for tapas and left completely blown away. Everything we ordered was delicious: the shrimp in garlic were perfectly cooked and bursting with flavor, the grilled chorizo was spot-on, and the seafood in garlic and oil was yummy. The little Cuban sandwiches were fresh, authentic, and pressed to perfection. All the food is clearly very fresh and cooked to order, which is why the paella takes about 45 minutes. Totally worth planning for it. Service was genuinely excellent. May have been a little understaffed, but we did sit outside and inside became crowded so it was harder to handle. Stop by for lunch after several years of not going by. If there were an opportunity to give a half a star this would probably land at that 3 1/2 star area. We had the empanadas and they were very good. Try the octopus and that was average and also had a seafood platter. The platter itself was large but you also pay for what was on there. Wanted a selection of small plates and this was the perfect fit. Inside and outside tables and as is normal quite difficult to park in busy DelRay. Six dishes and everyone pleasant and tasty. Pork crochets, beef empanadas, shrimp plate,meat balls,bruschetta and finally baked cheese on flat bread. Good cocktail choices and behind the bar to large kegs of red and white Sangria which are served in generous large pottery jugs. Final nice touch as we were setting to leave staff member went to open the door and thank us. It is a great family run restaurant. read more

I just left Spain a few months ago so I'm always looking for good tapas. Now I've had papas tapas a few times. I think the food is pretty good for Delray Beach. Lots of authentic tapas options. Service is alright. Pretty slow even on a weekday. We didn't get a dish we ordered but the waitress was apologetic. The pan con tomate was a little weird. Putting my own tomatoes on the bread just seemed lazy on the chefs end. I didn't think the table Madrid was worth $49 as well. Coca Cola was super watered down I didn't even finish it. Wow!!!! So sad we didn't come here sooner. The entire staff was LOVELY (shout out to Tré especially!) and the food - just wow. Go w the tapas!!!! Shrimp ajillo, Brussels (I know you can get them anywhere - GET THEM HERE!, Iberico and manchego... THE BREAD OMG - and on and on. Most notably; I have had a Cuban sandwich here, there and everywhere they tell you to get a Cuban - never wanted one or even another bite but the cubanitos here changed that. Absolutely incredible! We had made a reservation for 7:00 pm on New Year's Eve. We were not seated until 7:30. The manager said people were still eating from the 5:00 o'clock crowd. The atmosphere was great, the food was excellent, as was the service from our waiter, and we enjoyed our time while we were there. However, at 9:00, the same hostess told us we had to vacate our table as they were backed up and people were waiting to be seated. My husband was still drinking his coffee. This, after only being in the restaurant for an hour and a half; as opposed to those from the 5 o'clock who made them late in the first place... I ordered two paella from the website of the restaurant ,and I was completely disappointed in the quality of the food and the portions of the two would equal 1 if I were to have ordered it at a restaurant in the ironbound in newark NJ area ,I had to scrape rice off the side of the pan it was served,I believe it was sitting for awhile before I was served at my table ,to the portions , they were small not alot of clams ,not a lot of mussels ,and what was called a lobster ,was two pieces the size of my thumb each ,and the price was seventy dollars and why a ten dollar charge brought it to eighty dollars I don't know why ,for whatever the cost It was not worth it to me or my friends ,I will say the service was good to the food being served,but honestly I won't be back ,this is my opinion and my friends agreed ,I know there are good reviews for this establishment,but my visit ,was not a good one !!!! read more

The table also really liked the pulpo - very tender! Sangria was really great, I definitely recommend the pitcher for the price- probably 5 glasses within the pitcher. The ham croquettas were probably the most disappointing, usually one of my favorites but kind of bland here. Revisiting my earlier stellar review, the waitress waited until I reminded her to bring me bread to sop up the stew-like sautéed garbanzo beans. My partner's lamb didn't have an appropriate steak knife with it until he was left fumbling with his butter knife. Then our server noticed and corrected the situation. But the initial impression was lost. We walked out today having wracked up an inflationary $100+ bill with tip. I ordered the tres leches postre and the server asked if i wanted more Coke, without considering whether that made any sense with a tres leches cake with crème anglaise sauce and I was so flummoxed I said yes before realizing I should have ordered water. I did order the 'special' pistachio flan though. The server knew enough to make a caller wait while the in-person customer was right in front of her. It was our first time there and the food was very good but we did let them know that one of the dishes had very little chicken and a lot of garlic and the waiter had nothing to say. Also the floor was a bit dirty though the place was decorated beautifully. After we were done with dinner we noticed all the other tables had received bread when they sat down and we asked why we didn't get bread....we thought it was because we ordered tapas only but the waiter told us that the bread had not been delivered until after we arrived. OMG is all i can say! i absolutely love the concept of tapas/small plates so i knew i had to stop by here during my visit to Delray Beach. the pricing and menu selections were amazing. of course i sat at the bar and so i received the best service from the bar tender. she recommended i try the red sangria and i absolutely loved it. she let me try the white sangria, but it was too sweet for my liking. the empanadas were filled with meat, literally no space for air. the sweet angels were the perfect sweet/salty combination. the pork belly was my absolute favorite, the chimi churri sauce was delicious and so garlicky just how i like it. the croquetas were also delicious, they literally melt in your mouth. i was not a fan of the flan, but i'm also very picky about my flans. i enjoyed the chill atmosphere and the music selections was A1. i would absolutely recommend this restaurant to anyone looking to try tapas and wanting to explore something new . read more

Who loves tapas? ME! I'm always on the look out for a great tapas place, and I figured I would check one out near my workplace in Florida. We ordered two tapas, Pork Belly and Fried Calamari, as well as Grilled Pork Quesadilla and Palomilla Steak to share. The Pork Belly was absolutely phenomenal - honestly some of the best i"ve had. Super juicy, tender and the latin-Asian fusion sauce had a great balance of sweet and sour. The tostones and and mixed vegetable salad also complemented the pork well. The Fried Calamari was a bit disappointing - I wish it was a bit crispier. As for the entrees, both the quesadilla and the steak was decent. The steak was a bit on the rougher side, but I'm told that the palomilla is typically rough. The quesadilla was good - stuffed and filling. Overall, the pork belly alone makes this place worth checking out. The only slight negative was with the service - bit on the slower side and the quesadilla came out with the wrong protein. 4/5 read more
