A true hidden treasure, obviously not that well hidden as the queue is always out the door - but I do think that many people are unaware of the beauty of Papaya as is evident in the fact that this is the first yelp review. The other location has very few reviews also, so I thought that it was time to share with Yelpers the delicious and cheap goodness that is Papaya. I first heard about it when a colleague mentioned he was thinking of going to a place near his old office that he was obsessed with, did I think he could make it in time seeing as it is quite far and we only have a 30min lunch break and do I want anything as otherwise I would get to smell him eat it and be really hungry. I of course decided to go with and am so happy I did. The food is so tasty, there is a range of fresh curries, soups and sides. I have tried cashew nut stir fry, chilli basil stir fry, mussamun and green Thai curry and they were all so good. And only £4.50 with rice (currently and this is after they just put the prices up) for a box that looks small but is actually huge - they never scrimp on the meat. There is an option to pay 30p more to have two types at once- which is excellent as it is very hard to choose when it all smells so good. You can also pay 50p extra for noodles or brown rice. And the spring rolls / prawn toast are also very tasty. Now that we discovered the Goodge Street branch which is marginally closer it means that the suggestion comes up more often than before so while it isn't close enough for everyday whenever it's been a long week at work this is our goto Friday lunchtime pick me up. And don't be put off by the huge queues they have a very effective serving system for such a small place and so it moves very quickly. And if someone in your immediate vicinity in the office is going do not turn down their offer of picking something up for you as to sit and smell this food without having any, well that would be very very sad. read more
