The store is a block away from Reading Station and it has everything you would expect in a widely discounted variety, from cookies and biscuits, cans of soda, stuff for your car, dishes and cups, silverware, kitchen appliances, office supplies, even over-the-counter medicines like cold and flu stuff. Way too much to list here. You do have to be aware of the prices. I've seen some items that were £1 at Poundland for less than that at Asda or Tesco, but the opposite is true too: there are some great bargains to be had. The aisles are rather narrow - too narrow for trolleys - but they have a big stack of carry baskets. Shoppers seem friendly enough to step aside so you can pass. The lines can tend to be long and it blocks one of the aisles. Maybe it's not so busy the rest of the year, but lots of people are looking for Christmas bargains now. And yes, it's exactly a pound. The price includes tax (they call it VAT over here).

After receiving an email confirming delivery on the 17th, followed by one instructing us to have £40 in cash ready for the driver, my husband left work to ensure someone was home. Then we received a call from a courier saying the driver wouldn't reach us due to too many deliveries. He promised to call back--he never did. We waited until 11pm with no update and no sofa. We'd already given away our old one that morning, trusting the new would arrive. I've had to take another day off work just in case it comes today. Calls to customer service were cut off twice. No support. No accountability. Just stress and silence. We feel ignored, let down, and frankly shocked by the treatment received. I'm escalating this complaint and urging others to think twice before ordering from B&Q. Customers should never feel this unimportant.

If you go in at the right time, you can avoid the queue, but most times there is a queue. The store is pretty dark & dingy and could do with a major refurbishment. They always try and sell you something extra like chocolate at the till.

There is a good Newsagents range with many magazines available, and a subscription service available if your so inclined. The store itself has had some refurbishment also with Disabled access and automatic doors being introduced.
