I adore stationary stores. There's just something about a store where you can pick up greeting cards, or pens or .. everything to do with writing the niceitys of life. Paperchase was a delightful store, filled with interesting things, from a collection of mini erasers, shaped in so many different styles. Pens of every color and style, pencils with crowns at the tops, and of course the greeting card collections. You could pick up moleskien note books if that's your personal fetish (I know a few who love them) And apparently there's an upstairs that I didn't get a chance to visit, but next time, and there will be a next time. read more

I am a self confessed stationery hoarder. I have no need for more papery based goodies. So why am I unable to leave Paperchase without a a haul? Could it be the two floors of choice. The exceptionally helpful and engaging staff. The best range of greeting cards I've ever had to choose from - seriously g's birthday card buying took hours. The amazing selection of everything, I didn't even know I needed a panda rubber (eraser) until I brought him home. Or could it be the amazing multicoloured disco floor that makes me want to don a white suit and channel John Travolta - I'm going to be John Travolta partially because I can't remember the female characters name but more because I hated her dress and would look way better in a white flared suit! I loved Paperchase when it was a wee section of Borders bookshop. I mourned for its loss when Borders disappeared from Buchanan Street and Glasgow Fort. But there are not enough words for me to convey the strength of my passion for this muckle shine to all that is stationery. Oh and the fact that buying stationery is never going to make me regret eating cake with mean and nasty changing room mirrors is purely coincidental. read more

Well, let's just admit it: I go to Paperchase every week. Not quite on purpose, though: it's because I am giving a French conversation class at Tinderbox upstairs, which irremediably leads me to wander in Paperchase for a while before or after, if I have time (which, erm...I always find). I find all stationery shops to be amazing by default, but I think that Paperchase has this fancy, unique feel to it. First of all, they have everything you may dream of from cards to iPhone case, bags to Christmas decoration, notebooks to mugs and craft material. Second of all, Tinderbox is a plus, because that means you can have a sip of coffee prior or after your purchases. I found the staff to be very nice too: not pushy but helpful. The only minus to this place is the price: £6 for a box of paper clips is a bit over the top, I think! This is why I spend so much time there, marvelling at every single item, and then only buying a notebook or a pen. But well, I have a great experience every time and now I know where to find anything I might need in terms of stationery and crafts material, if I am willing to pay a bit extra. read more

I have a new found love for Paperchase! I used to think of this shop if I needed a nice card for someone, in fact I hadn't even been upstairs before yesterday. If you haven't been upstairs, go upstairs! Downstairs has a sign that says 'Art stuff upstairs' but there's so much more than that. You'll find funky paper plates, napkins and decorations for whatever party you're planning on throwing. They even stock Kate Spade coasters, acrylic straws (never before have I desired straws so much!) and other pretty pieces. The have funky prints, nursery art work (Moomins and Miffy) and even a few Spineless Classics. They also have a rather fab sale on at the moment and wonderfully helpful staff. read more

Paperchase, you naughty minx! It's been a while since my last visit, but when I saw Kelly R's tip that they now stock the best magazine in the world, Frankie, I knew I needed another visit, stat. I'm also on a stationery bender just now (it's a thing, trust me) and wanted a wee poke around. I generally like the ranges of notebooks and accessories in Paperchase but they do have some which are on the naff-side-of-twee for me. Of course no store is going to be totally perfect though, so it can be good for a wander around and sorting the great from the tacky. Up on the first floor there's a huge range of art supplies which I've never really explored before - this is also where they keep the magazines. I've just started a calligraphy course and was hoping they might also have some inks and notepads - they didn't, that I could see but I'll return for another visit to ask someone about it. I also love the wall of gift wrap which I can see coming in handy for when I'm on a home crafting spree (recovering a cork board, for example). There was a queue at the checkout but they move fast, and I managed to sign up for the new loyalty card really quickly. The card gets you free upgrade to next day on online orders, a £10 gift on your birthday and a free coffee in store every week. Win! They're also stocking Christmas cards (in early September) if you need to get your cards early for your far away relatives. read more

Met one of my wonderful craft loving friends here today for a cold drink upstairs in Tinderbox. Even though it was warm outside (never thought I'd say that) it was cool and pleasant inside which was lovely! Had a wander through some of the new items they have on display which are perfect for summer. They have a beautiful Alice in Wonderland collection upstairs which is so pretty! They also have some gorgeous Kate Spade items. Love this store so much. There's always something new! read more

I love stationary and notepads and all things quirky that combine the 2 and paperchase covers all bases for me. This store on buchanan street is huge and i can easily lose an hr or two in here. Downstairs you have all the cards and gifts and unusual little items whilst upstairs there is a fantastic art department with a tinderbox cafe. Paperchase are now launching instore craft events where you sign up for a class either instore or via the website and you can learn lots of different papercrafts in a small group environment. This is a brilliant idea for any budding crafters out there that are a little bit shy but would love to give crafting a go. Paperchase do everything right and I hope they continue to be here for a long long time! read more

I've put off reviewing Paperchase for a long time. I pop in quite regularly but still have very mixed feelings about it. It's a cross between an expensive card shop, and a general stationary/art supplies store. The Pros: The craft stuff I love - you'll find all your crafty necessities here. The Christmas shop, I also love - it's immensely tacky and fun - and the charity xmas cards are great value. The multi-coloured, lit up, glass block floor upstairs is a thing of beauty. The Cons: In general, the cards are very expensive. They also tend to be either very bland or extremely smutty - but with little in between. In Feb I was looking for a Valentine's Day card for the Mr. Cue me looking through every card for an hour, and being very disappointed that ALL of the cards had pics/poems for straight couples. And with the exception of one completely black wedding card, the same applies to all their other ranges. I did take this up with their Twitter account - the customer service person said it was something they were looking at - but as of last week, there's been no material change. For a company this size, with such a huge shop in the centre of Glasgow, I find this continued passive discrimination astonishing! For me, this is probably a 2.5 star review: 1 for the crafty stuff, 1 for the floor, and 0.5 for the xmas shop. But I'm rounding it down to a 2 - there's no excuse for this shop not to be amazing. read more

After being starved for so long of my favourite thing about Borders, the shop where I used to spend most of my pocket money, I was ecstatic when I found out Paperchase would be opening a HUGE branch here in little ole' Glasgow. Ever since I was a little girl, I've just loved stationery. Notebooks, pencils, pens, diaries, pads, paper, folders, files...anything and everything. So imagine my delight when I finally got to pay a visit last week. Paperchase on Buchanan is bright and airy, you can have a good look around at all the things. I don't know about you, fellow yelpers, but I could spend literally hours in this place and I am always reluctant to leave. I haven't bought anything too exciting yet, my friend recently moved into a new office at work and his walls are dull, so I picked up some amusing and bright postcards for him. I want to buy everything in here. I wouldn't mind living in here either. However, if you don't mind paying through the nose for stationery, go down the road to the poundshop. I really love this place! Its a huge airy store located in a prime spot on Buchanan Street and I find it hard to walk past without going in. The first level is mainly stationery stuff - folders, pens, pencils, gorgeous scrapbooks and journals as well as a huge selection of cards and gift bags. I love all the different themed ranges/ colour combinations of goodies, and if I could afford to, I'd kit out both my home and office with the lot. The card range has some unusual and unique ranges although some of them can be quite pricey. The upstairs is the best part. To the right there's a Tinderbox coffee shop which looks out onto Buchanan Street. The other side has a selection of wedding inspired products, designed for those who want to try there hand at some handmade decor - things like bunting, plates, paper flowers etc. Really its enough to make you wish you had a wedding to organise (or maybe that's just me). The last section at the back of the store is my favourite though - a great range of arts and craft materials - different papers, sketchbooks, art pencils etc - I'm getting excited just thinking about it. On my visit today, looking for some products for a little photography set up, the assistant couldn't have been more helpful - directing me to what I needed, double wrapping my buys so they didn't get wet - just being really attentive even although I only spent £10. She asked me if I wanted a loyalty card. The guy in front had refused which made me think there was a hidden catch, but nope this really is a fantastic free card, which gives you goodies including money off, a gift voucher on your birthday and a free coffee every week! Fantastic stuff - more excuses to visit the store and I'll definitely be going here for all my art supplies in the future! If Waterstones is my home from home and Fopp is my secondary man cave then Paperchase is my city office space. I have a core group of shops I visit on a weekly basis during lunch breaks. This is one of them. I don't always buy something but I just enjoy being around this stuff. Also, if you sign up for a Paperchase card, you are welcome to a free regular coffee every 7 days from Tinderbox up the stairs! Did you hear me? FREE COFFEE!!! The selection of journals and notebooks is second to none as is the pens, pencils, journals, bags, cards, folders and paper. I don't venture into the arts and crafts section all that often but again, it's hard to imagine it lacks in much. Must-visit city centre store. Here's a suggested plan of action: - Check out Forbidden Planet, buy some comics/novels - Hit Paperchase and grab a Moleskine notebook and a decent pen (I like the uni-ball Vision Elite black) - Order a latte from Tinderbox and grab a chair - Read the crap out of your comics and jot down your own story ideas or draw something - OR just sit and watch the people flow by on Buchanan St below like a city centre Buddha. I going to admit it. I have a stationery addiction. Paperchase is a stationery mecca where all addicts come to buy pretty notebooks they can't really afford and stock up on stickers and gadgets that they didn't even know they wanted. I find myself going in sometimes just to cheer up my day by looking at cat folders and phone cases. Genuinely though it has every piece of stationery/art supplies you may need all under one roof, which is extremely handy for a shop on Buchanan Street. I can't think of anyone I know that refuses to go into Paperchase. It is just a fun, friendly place to be with excellent helpful staff and all the gel pens you could ever want. The introduction of the Paperchase Treat card has added an extra advantage onto going with a free hot drink a week in Tinderbox (upstairs) and £10 on your birthday as well as other treats. Definitely get a card from the till next time you're in stocking up on funny birthday cards! read more

A great store the second in Scotland the other being in Edinburgh, plenty of arts and crafts, note books and cards. I did see a sign for Tinderbox for upstairs but did not get a chance to go up as l had a train to catch, but will be back. I did notice that some items are a little on the pricy side. read more

Great new Paperchase in the heart of the city centre! With Buchanan Quarter having opened recently, a plethora of new American stores have found their way to Buchanan Street, and Paperchase is one of them. I'm so glad it's made an appearance as I love the store, and this one is monstrously big. I popped in the other day for a visit and ended up leaving with a couple of things I probably didn't need. The staff were great and smiley and helpful and the queues were kept to a minimum by their efficiency. With decent prices, this place is definitely competition for the Scribbler across the street. read more

This store is amazing! I'm a sucker for cute artsy office supplies like notepads, journals, post it notes, etc. Not only do they have a great variety in office supplies, they also have a great supply in goodies like gift wrappings, greeting cards, pens, bags, you name it! The only downside I could think of is that the only phone covers PaperChase offers are covers for iPhone 5. Don't get me wrong - the phone covers are great, unique and amazingly cute, but there's no love for Android lovers, sadly. Other than that, I can definitely recommend this store if you need your fix in anything crafty and creative. Even if you don't 'need' anything, this store is great to browse and have yourself a giggle over the cuteness all around you. read more

This is a cracking big 'lovely things' shop. I'm one of those folk that are REALLY picky about greetings cards - I take after my mum, who said one Christmas, on receipt of a particularly honking and naff Christmas card 'I'd rather they just hadn't bothered than sending that thing'. Paperchase have a truly excellent range of cards, from the classy to the quirky, with not a hint of naffness to be seen. They've also got cute and unusual gifts - I bought my manfriend a set of kitchen measuring spoons in the shape of hearts - awww! And today I have discovered that they have a gigantic upper floor that is full of CRAFT STUFF! Their range of papers is particularly impressive, and they have some lovely old school map paper. And when I say old school, I'm not trying to use hip lingo or whatever - the paper is a smaller version of those big maps you used to get on school walls. I have no idea how I managed to not notice an upper floor previously, but this relevation could prove to be costly. They have also just introduced an awesome reward card, which is free and amongst many other delights, you get a free £10 gift on your birthday, 15% off your first purchase, £5 voucher once you've spent £50 and a FREE COFFEE EVERY WEEK in the Tinderbox upstairs. Can't say better than that. If they sold small sheets of pretty felt, I would be obliged to award the full five stars. Get onto it Paperchase. read more

This is one of those places I could get lost in for hours and come out with fab purchases and a hot bevvy to boot. Anytime i'm looking for a quirky card or a cute one of a kind gift, I always come here without giving it a second thought. I've managed to purchase the funniest Christmas card my brother has ever gotten from me, a very sentimental love card for my guy with a simple but powerful caption, and postcards for my pals back home that say exactly what I want to say to them "Greeting from Glasgow". Everything is laid out so nicely, it's easy to weave in and out of the little sections of cards, supplies and gifts. A multilevel store, there really is something for everyone! The staff is just as lovely as the store. The most recent time I was there, the clerk noticed my drivers license and started a conversation based on wanting to know where i was from. Of course she asked 'Why Glasgow!?" University and more and more love and life. If you're looking for scrap booking materials, cards, gift wrap, holiday goodies, post cards, school supplies, etc., check this place out. They have a store card you can use to get points towards purchases and one free hot bevvy weekly! Weekly!!!! You really can't beat this place! read more

Paperchase has always had the top spot in my life in terms of stationary. So I was pretty stoked to see they were running some craft events in the Buchanan Street store. After a browse of what was on offer I opted to go learn how to make honeycomb paper Pom poms. There is crafting areas doted around the store which when you find them are really quite intriguing. Laura who was teaching the workshop was an absolute dream, she was cool, fun, talkative and made learning the craft very easy. I had a very proud moment opening up my two toned Pom Pom to see I had actually created something. The class lasted an hour and cost £10.00 which isn't a lot and it is really fun, my only critique if any is having a bit more longevity on the 20% offer you get for attending the class! read more

Gosh I love this place. Paperchase, oh Paperchase, why art thou so perfect? Why do I covet everything that you stock. If you are looking for anything stationary related - ribbons in every size and colour that you can think of, notebooks from the oversizes to miniature, pens in glitter and a card to match ANY occasion, this is the place to go. Looking for a random little gift for somebody? Paperchase. Postcards? Paperchase. Mugs? Paperchase. Sticker? Paperchase. Organisational Boxes and things to make your desk neat and tidy? Paperchase. On a serious note, I really do like this place, it is slightly on the pricey side but it could be a lot worse (think Papyrus), and you can find something that fits every budget. I love Paperchase! This flagship store is huge and has everything you could ever want stationary wise and more. Downstairs you'll find cards and gift wrap plus their main line of stationary, books and gifts. Upstairs there's a section for party supplies and seasonal decorations, high end pens and bags and also a great art materials section. I love browsing the coloured card and patterned paper. There's also a branch of Tinderbox in here which is a great place to stop for a coffee or hot chocolate and people watch Buchanan Street below. If you have a Paperchase Treat Me card you can claim a free filter coffee with a purchase receipt from that day or money off one of their other drinks. The Treat Me card will also get you 10% off food in the cafe, £5 off a £50 spend (which can be cumulative) and a £5 voucher on your birthday. I could spend an hour in here easily, it's one of my favourite places to browse and I'll always pick up something fun and useful for not very much money. read more

So you've money in your pocket and a stationery itch that needs scratching then this is the place to go. I have lost hours in here just lusting over paper and pens. This shop should come with a warning sign as I pop in out the rain and suddenly NEED to buy hand pressed paper, a cute bunny hole punch and the pens...don't start me on the pens! There are an impressive amount of cards and notebooks but be warned they don't come cheap. The staff are lovely too and very helpful without being in your face. It's a good place to get inspiration as they often have themed tables eg for weddings or seasonal events such as Easter and run workshops. Upcoming workshops include decoupage & wedding invites but I'm not sure if these are free. There's a busy cafe upstairs and you can get a free coffee or tea every week with your loyalty card. Tinderbox doesn't have charging points and their wifi was very slow and kept disconnecting. I wouldn't go there again, there's plenty other cafes near by that have better wifi and easy access to charging points available for everybody. read more

any stationary store that is spread over two levels with a cafe can get nothing less than 5 stars. mainly because I LOVE STATIONARY!! seriously, i can't resist buying pens and notebooks and picture frames and more pens and cool luggage tags and tea cups and wait even more pens. sorry, i love pens especially pens in every shade of pink which i'm pretty sure this store has. seriously though, if you're looking for a birthday card, an anniversary card, an i'm thinking of you card, a filofax, a key chain, a tea set, gift wrap, an adorable leather satchel, or some stickers this is definitely the place to go. pretty much any stationary need can be met here and then some. i love paperchase and i love their massive two floor glasgow shop even more! my only regret is that with some many adorable paper and pen related items my wallets tends to feel rather empty when i leave this shop. read more

I love stationery shops full of wee things to buy and this is a lovely big stationery shop. Mostly I go in here for the fantastic range of birthday cards and wrapping paper but there's a lot of other nice stuff - diaries, notebooks, mugs, phone covers - and it's a great place to go if you're looking for unusual gift ideas. I think I'm in love! I'm yelping this on the train home because it just can't wait! I went in here to get a card for a friend and left with a bag full of goodies, £16 poorer. Everything's so cute! I'm a sucker for cute stickers and quirky stationary and it's surprisingly good value. The size and design of the store is incredible, with two floors, a cafe and a huge crafts selection. As a flagship store, it's impressive. - I genuinely felt like I was shopping in London! Not to mention, the staff are all so friendly and helpful. There's no feel of being rushed out, just a chatty vibe. I got the feeling the staff were as excited by Paperchase as I was. They all seemed to love the store and working there. It'll be impossible for me to walk by Paperchase again! I really could walk about for hours if my bank balance allowed it. There are oh so many people now going to the coffee shop upstairs because coffees are free to loyalty card holders but there is no such thing as a free coffee. The customers in other departments are paying the bill. Free coffee and buy a cake, yes but free coffee once a week? No wonder this some of the items in this shop are so pricey! read more
