Super super super clean bathrooms. There is someone taking care of the bathroom to be sure it stays clean. They do not charge money to use the bathroom - but there is a little box for tips. She very much deserves a tip. read more

The location maintains all of the historic touches to the decoré, and the lavish garden/grounds. The dining room still has the aroma of leather from the horse seats. The rooms are comfortable, and as an added bonus have subtle heating/ac units you don't find in other places in town. As an added bonus, the centuries old building comes with the same spooky charm you get throughout the town. Another excuse to cuddle up with your loved one.

The basement area has old tunnels that house a under ground spring. Most of San Luis Potosí at least the older parts still use the springs as their water source. Our suite said it slept 4 but there was a king bed, a loveseat, and a regular (dirty) couch. How does that add up? How does that accommodate four people? Staff was reasonably friendly and there is a lovely woman in housekeeping who was helpful and kind. But, this room is so gross that I have to wear my shoes all the time. What's with the algae filled pool outside? Fix it or drain it and plant in the space. Ew. Our family reserved a block of rooms and one of the suites didn't have working air conditioning upon our arrival and ours never cooled the room to the set temperature. Old jacuzzi tubs are stained. Mattresses are rock hard. There must be a better option in SLP. Lobby and restaurant are pretty but I can't sleep there.

This is an okay property it what makes it undesirable are the staff. The front desk manager stated…read morethat he would refund our stay due to the fact that our flight was canceled however when it came time to approve the refund he suddenly changed his mind. Rather than speaking to me about it he simply left. I was left to speak to the front desk who was curt and not friendly at all. We've been staying at this hotel for years and they do not care about our patronage or loyalty. What they care about is their bottom line. Customer satisfaction is not a priority. If you want to stay at a property where you are valued simply for the money that you're bringing in and not for you as a customer then go right ahead and stay here. But if you would rather stay at a facility that will value your patronage and preference, stay elsewhere. Seriously folks, they are nice to your face but are ready to say "no" if it's convenient for them.

LQ Hotel by La Quinta San Luis Potosi
I checked in here the other day, and I was shocked that Yelp requested a review from me because I…read morecome here all the time, and just assumed I had already submitted my thoughts. I bid to come here most months because I enjoy the people, love downtown San Luís, and the hotel staff are better than any other that I've experienced since I've been an airline pilot; most treat flight crews like second class citizens. The shuttle drivers are always prompt, and ready for us as soon as we clear customs, and are extremely polite, getting our bags before we can even set them down. The hotel receptionists are great, remember your name, speak excellent English, and have great advice on local attractions and food. Downtown is only a ten minute über ride that comes out to $3-4, and it is absolutely stunning with old and well maintained architecture, street vendors, plenty of stores, and great restaurants with rooftop seating. I've already posted my favorite, so check out my earlier reviews. There's also an excellent Brazilian streak house across the highway with a shuttle (or you can walk the five minutes), and you'll spend $15-20 on a meal that would cost $60 easy in the states. The rooms are always clean and made spotless. One thing that may through off a first timer to Mexican hotels is many require you to swipe your key card in the elevator, so you can access your floor (you can't go to any floor you want for safety, which I like). You can also go to PB (lobby) for their tasty breakfast, the pool, and their pretty decent hotel gym. If you are ever in San Luís or wondering where to visit in Mexico this is one of my favorite spots! Don't forgot to get your Wyndham points!

Hotel de Gante
This is the worst hotel experience I've ever had and I've traveled to dozens of countries and…read morehundreds of cities. I wanted to experience the central district with a great view in San Luis Potosí from January 11-14th so I booked Hotel De Gante for 4 nights as I've read mediocre but favorable reviews. However, my experience was far from favorable. There was no hot water, the room was cold because of no "closed" window (in the bathroom) and there were bed bugs. I was traumatized when I woke up with multiple abrasions on my skin! Initially I thought it to be mosquitoes but it's too cold for mosquitoes. I then pulled back the sheets and noticed bed bugs. I immediately requested a refund of the remaining nights (3) and the hotel refunded all 4 nights ONLY after trying to get me to stay there in another room for about 30 minutes. I was torn with writing this review because I'm an entrepreneur and believe in supporting other businesses but I think it's my duty to let other travelers know about potential hazards especially when traveling with children. I have no intentions of staying there again!
