Out for a float.

We planned to take a boat tour, knew we wanted a smaller boat (not a party cruise), and decided we preferred a company large enough to have a presence and therefore probably insurance and safety requirements! Stopped in and they were VERY helpful. We chose the smaller boat (could accommodate @30, but there were only @15 on board). There was a photographer on board who took gorgeous photos and sent the digital files for a very reasonable price (under $10 US). Lunch was prepared on board - fresh and delicious. The crew was great, and even spoke English which was not a given in Brazil. There was a paddle board, snorkel equipment and floats. Option to take dinghy or swim to beaches at each stop. Wonderful day.

Pick up from the hotel for jeep tour
Naomi K.

We booked two tours, (a jeep tour in the jungle and a snorkel tour on a schooner) online with Viator and I'm sure it was significantly more expensive than just showing up at the dock and getting solicited by the cruise boat organizers. First of all, a lady came to fetch us from the hotel and as we walked past the Paraty tours office and jeep (we had a jeep tour booked) we asked her where exactly we were walking. She was taking us to the dock (yes "hotel pick-up" literally means someone walks you from your hotel to the dock). We had got confirmation for a jeep tour today but she had to call in and straighten it out. They decided to switch days on us, which turned out to be fine since we had our bathing suits on us anyway. The Netuno II boat departed at 11am (4-5 hour trip) and sailed a small area in the bay with 4 stops, two with small beaches (Praia Lula and Vermelha and Ilha Comprimida), one only to float at for lunch and one with lots of fishes (they fed). Snorkel equipment was for rent, but the masks were too leaky to really use and not worth the extra R$20. They only had that one section with fish the you could easily see from the boat. Staff was friendly and professional. They had a photographer who also explained the boat rules and translated for the trip and offered her pictures (R$70) by online link. The food was decent and they had tables and seating to eat. We tried the basket of fried fish pieces that came with mustard and a sweet and sour sauce for dipping, and was easily big enough for 2-3 people. The bottom floor had covered lounge seating where you could easily relax and fall asleep. The upstairs had pool chaise chairs for sunning. They had a dingy to take people to shore or you could just swim, since it was quite close. The second tour we took was the jeep tour to two waterfall areas (Pedra Blanca & Tobogá) with two stops at alambiques (Pedra Blanca & Engenho d' Ouro). There use to be a hike up to Estrada Real but they claimed it was a separate tour (even though it was advertised to us as part of the tour when we signed up). The waterfall areas both had an upper and lower section with two different areas to swim and relax. Both had bathroom facilities (very basic) and the second one had a bar and food (though lunch was quite filling). We never felt rushed and 40 minutes was a good enough time to enjoy the spot and not get bored. They were good about making sure everyone buckled in, offered us water from the cooler, allowed us time to shop at the alambique after (only the first one had a tour). All in all a satisfying tour with good stopping points. The jeep was convenient for the rough roads to the waterfalls. Pick up was a little late but that's because we're the last to get picked up. The guides were decent at English and friendly.
