If I could live here I'd move in a heartbeat! I came here with my two housemates last year and we had a magical time. We took a picnic blanket and spent the day exploring the gardens which didn't stop surprising us every few minutes with new corners to uncover. Dotted with pagodas and peacocks its impossible not to fall under its charm. It's a little off the beaten track; I managed to live in the 16th arrondissement for a year without realising it was home to this hidden gem. Nonetheless its absolutely worth the little extra effort!

It's a remnant of the ancient oak forest of Rouvray, and the parts I've seen are almost closer to woods than they are to parkland, a little more wolf than dog. I've been twice in the last few years, neither time because I was trying to go to the park. My first visit was for the Rothko exhibit at the Louis Vuitton Foundation, my second for dinner at Le Pré Catelan. Those destinations are about two kilometers apart, and it would take half an hour to walk between them. The park, or at least what I've seen of it, is very green and beautiful, thick with trees. I would, in fact, describe it as a forest. A lovely place to walk during the day, and a little bit scary at night. My husband and I ended up walking through it after sundown, and though we are big city dwellers and not especially fearful, it did feel like the wrong encounter in those woods could have a meaningful impact on our lives. Of course, there's much more of the park that I haven't seen, and many attractions, including the LV Foundation, which is worth a visit on its own. Maybe one day I'll explore the Bois de Boulogne on purpose. I'm at least too old to be of interest to witches or big bad wolves.

No one in their right mind, or for that matter - in any state of mind - should ever visit Paris…read morewithout spending at least a few hours wandering in and around one of the world's greatest Parks, the Bois De Boulogne. A Parisian will tell you it is, in fact, The World's Ultimate Public Park. To appreciate this incredible landscape you have to imagine Great Richmond Park in London because it is just as vast and it's beginnings go back to the oak forest of Rouvray in the 8th century. Therefore, in anyone's terms, this is an ancient part of Paris. During The Hundred Years War, the forest became the haunt of highwaymen, robbers and scoundrels. The troops of the Duke of Burgundy burned part of this Forest - which proves that vandalism is not just a British Phenomena - Then under Louis XI, the estate, now called the Bois de Boulogne, was reforested and two roads were opened through it. As we all know now Louis X1 was not always vicious and cunning, but gave some vague and passing thought to his people. This beautiful forest is full of activities on weekends. A joggers paradise as well as biking, boat rowing, and where picnics are held. During the summer season the Park also holds a 3 day weekend party in July with over 50 bands and singers. Similar in many ways to the Glastonbury festival in Somerset, UK. My advice though, that while the park's glory deserves high praise as a magnificent forest set in the centre of the great Metropolis of Paris, at night, it has a history more in tune with sexual shenanigans - not always without severe damage to one's wallet or one's 'chosen' sexuality. The aristocracy in the 18th Century found a more fun and sensual use for the Park which is illustrated in my video below. But it's so neat that there are…read moreso many parks in Paris that are incorporated within the area of walking that it's nice to take advantage of such nice walking spaces. We were in the Paris district of Pigalle and were walking back towards Champs-Elysées. This park was in the way to our hotel and we walked through it. It's open from sunrise to sunset for the public. There were many locals and tourists walking/running. Some people with carry-ons, others walking after work to go home etc. Just different people in the outdoor environment. Parc Monceau is well maintained with nice walkways, variety of statues to sightsee, pretty flowers and trees throughout. Overall, if you live near it or visiting near by, stop by and get your walk on. They also have benches to sit and enjoy the atmosphere.~

One of the most beautiful historic parks in the area!…read more The landscape is amazing! There is a small pond and some interesting statues in the park. There is a lot benches to sit on and enjoy the view. This is not a touristy place. Here you can find people jogging, playing with kids, having picnic, doing photoshoots, relaxing and even getting tanned during hot summer days. Claude Monet painted several views of this park, which can be found at the Met in New York.
