Créé en 1888 pour descendre le charbon du Plateau Matheysin vers Grenoble, il a rempli sa mission pendant plus de cent ans, chariant des millions de tonnes d'anthracites. Sauvé de la destruction, aujourd'hui il est devenu le Chemin de Fer de La Mure à vocation touristique. Il combine ainsi sauvegarde du patrimoine industriel et mise en valeur des sites naturels du Vercors, les Ecrins et le Dévoluy. C'est un véritable chef d'oeuvre architectural de 142 ouvrages d'art, traversant des paysages vertigineux, évoluant sur des viaducs suspendus au-dessus des eaux turquoises du Drac.

I still had a great time in both the gardens and zoo. My pictures will NOT do it justice. If you have the time, I recommend visiting. Ambiance - A huge overall location. 105 Hectares, 8000 Arbres, 7m visitors, etc. Lake, green house, boat, bike, etc. rentals. Service - Self service. Price - FREE!! Theres so much space to walk around and plenty of benches available to sit and relax. I was so glad I brought my book with me, because it was the perfect place to sit and read. Such a gorgeous park that I really enjoyed getting to walk around in.
