Came in October and most of the animals weren't even out or maybe their exhibits were hidden away or blocked off. There was a lot of construction when we were there. Even though we couldn't get the 100% experience, it seems pricing seems to stay the same year round. Extremely disappointed that it seemed that more exhibits were shut down or 'in progress' than were actually operational.

There are some pretty interesting animals, bird and reptiles. There are a few sections of the zoo under renovation. B and I did end up spending about 2 hours here. Yes they do have some rare animals / spices. Like the red panda, Arabian oryx, orangutans and etc. Note that the zoo closes at 6 PM and last admission is 5:15 pm. Yes just slightly before 5:15 pm, the ticket seller will close the till. B came here two days before our visit and we were told that tickets are not being sold because we were 5 mins late. This is actually a good thing I guess. Ménagerie is one of the oldest zoos in Paris and is also one of the oldest zoo in the world. It opened its door back in the 1700s. Admission is €13 per person. We have noticed that this zoo is not visited by a lot of foreigners. B and I came in September and it was very quiet.

There are whales and other animals. It is interesting what you get to see. The animals' remains/skeletons are fascinating here. I feel like at the beginning of time, It was a very well laid out museum but they got more and more items for display that they have no place to put it. They end up putting a lot of things in the center of the museum leaving only two narrow isle for walking. The middle section is blocked off and can be seen only far away. This museum has two floors. The second floor is just as interesting as the first. The second floor is less of a dumping ground. Even the things they have in the cabinet or behind the glass are fascinating. There is so much things to see inside this museum that you do need minimum 2 hours. I feel like there is so much to see that I don't know what am I suppose to look at first. The most interesting item on display here is the whale skeleton. It is so big that there is no way you will miss it.

This review is for the Grande Galerie d'Evolution. It would be expensive and take more than a day to properly see all of the museums of natural history--so they ought to have their own Yelp entries. The building has four stories of taxidermy animals (this doesn't correspond to reviews that include photos of skeletons--a separate building that is not air conditioned). The taxidermy is in itself a historical collection of old specimens back when killing and stuffing animals was the only way to show animals from far-off lands to European people. It is creepy yet fascinating, and kids will be terrified and mesmerized. Honestly, it is better than the zoo found in the Jardin des Plantes since the living situation of those animals is lacking in modern updates for humanely keeping captive animals. Here, the animals have all been long dead, and in some cases extinct or nearly so. The building is gorgeous. The sky light goes from dawn to evening to full-on thunder and lightning to rainbow. It has saved us on a rainy day, and it has saved us on a day with 90+ degree heat. Plan about 2+ hours and don't leave without seeing the simulated rainstorm.

There are no discount if you are planning on hitting all museums and the zoo in one day. If you add each museum admission cost together, it can get very costly. It is like 10 euro here and 10 euro there - definitely not cool. B and I visited all the museums and zoo under the Muséum National d'Histoire Naturelle. They were all very different than the Picaso museum, Louvre and etc. The museums and the zoo are very education and suitable for all ages. The Muséum National d'Histoire Naturelle was founded during the French Revolution back in the 1700s. The museums are easy to get to by metro or bus.

We thought this was the museum itch that would captivate the kids and our interest (as the kids would not be able to handle a visit to the Louvre). It was only okay. It cost about 40€ for our family of 4 for the two exhibits. We love museums and spend hours visiting them at home but this museum was eh...just okay. It wasn't worth the waste of our time in Paris. Our kids and we would have been much happier revisiting the Luxembourg Gardens again (they have a kids' playground that's a small fee for all day access. The playground is enclosed and has a Tarzan swing, great play features, water fountains, and much more). If we had it to do again, we would not have come to this museum at all. The Galerie de l'Évolution was much better than the Children's exhibit (it was a big dud).
