I also learned a lot about parenting from our discussions and readings at our parent meetings (especially "No Bad Kids" by Janet Lansbury). The co-op experience is unique because you get to be in the classroom regularly along with a parent coach and two to three other parents each day. It creates a very special community experience, and you get to be there with your child as they learn and grow. As a new parent with a Covid baby, I was so thankful to find a strong community at Pea Pod. I'm still close with many other parents from our cohort, and I love that our kiddos have known each other for over half of their lives! Most importantly, I feel like my child was truly cared for, respected, and allowed to be herself at Pea Pod. This meant - and still means - so much to me. It was the best childcare experience I could've wished for during those two precious years of my daughter's life, and I would recommend Pea Pod to any parent looking for loving care and a community for themselves and their child!

Peapod is an unlicensed, unregulated co-op preschool operating out of Tabor Space in Portland. As…read moreof July 2025, they were cited by DELC for unlawful care. No license, no DHS oversight, no required training, and no accountability if a child is harmed. They employ Jasmine Kennedy, who is unregistered and has no early childhood education experience (confirmed via her own public LinkedIn profile). She doesn't lead activities or engage with the kids meaningfully. Crafts were never more than paint haphazardly smeared onto paper out blocks of wood. Never once did we see a semblance of any kind of planned lessons or sessional activities from this "teacher." (Even through peapod says she's not a teacher, she's listed as such on both their website and her own LinkedIn). Multiple children, including ours, disclosed being grabbed, yelled at, and made to feel unsafe by her. When we raised concerns, the board shut down communication, deleted our posts, and said we needed to "manage our energy" at drop-off. No one ever asked how our child was doing. A leaked multi-page board document reveals a disturbing pattern: after a child disclosed being hurt by Jasmine while alone with her, the board portrayed the parents as the problem. They called the mom manipulative, overly anxious, and mentally unwell, implied her concerns were racially motivated, and labeled both her and the child liars. Jasmine was described as emotionally overwhelmed and burnt out, with the document centering her discomfort, not the child's safety. Multiple other parents had also shared concerns about Jasmine being rough, but those were ignored as "boundary setting." Instead of addressing her behavior, the board unanimously voted to terminate the family's enrollment claiming the family was "a harm to the community." Since speaking out, Peapod leadership has labeled us mentally unstable, mirroring the retaliation described in their own records. Peapod uses community-friendly language, but behind the scenes it silences parents and protects unqualified staff at kids' expense.

This place is a gift to anyone that has taken Spanish in school and yet never learned it. After 4…read moreyears of Spanish in high school and not absorbing any of it, I was skeptical that I could be taught. My instructor taught us so much, and broke it down into lessons that made the transition so much easier that I'm not only learning Spanish, but I'm enjoying understanding the how's and the why's of the language. All classes are very small (usually no more than 8) which makes it easy to learn, grow, and laugh with each other. I never felt that I couldn't make a mistake or ask a question. The homework is minimal and doesn't usually take more than an hour a week. (Though it's good to make vocab flash cards as you go and keep practicing). Wonderful teachers, quick responces to emails and phone calls.

They are very affordable compared to others, and they have great native speakers for teachers. I have had 3 teachers for different levels, and some others as substitutes. And all their teachers are dynamic and energetic and PATIENT! Especially good for me, because I memorize vocabulary v e r y s l o w l y. The classes are no larger than 8 people so you get really personal attention compared to the universities and colleges. Our class has been studying together for several months and we are now all friends and have attended foreign films together around town and we sometimes bring in snacks for celebrations or special occasions like birthdays etc. I have attended their social celebrations like Day of the Dead and Mexican Independence Day and feel like its a great little community and family at Tierra.

I signed up as an adult driver and took a few lessons a week with Mr Mohammad. The teaching I…read morereceived was super clear and easy to understand as we worked up from slower speeds to highway driving, learning about road signs & driving etiquette along the way. I passed my test first time! you won't even realise as you're learning but the horizon team will overprepare you so that by the time you do your test you'll feel super confident and be completely ready to drive anytime thereafter. Thank you Horizon for a such service and a fantastic experience

A few months ago, I began taking driving lessons at Horizon Driver Education and had a very…read moredisappointing experience for the short time i was there. During my first week of lessons, I was assigned to the instructor/owner, Abdiasis, who created a very stressful and intimidating environment. During our short 2 days together, I explicitly told him that I was not ready to drive on the main roads, yet he ignored my boundaries and forced me into traffic anyway. When I expressed stress about going into the traffic, he stated, "You think I love you more than my car," and laughed. This comment was very creepy to me and made me very uncomfortable as it was coming from a grown professional whose sole focus should have been on teaching me how to drive rather than making such inappropriate comments. Furthermore, he repeatedly dismissed my communication by continuously yelling at me saying, "You Look Confused" after I stated I was not multiple times. He also showed impatience with me and I did not feel safe to make mistakes and learn from them as a completely new driver. He also seemed to take satisfaction from all the stress he was causing me, as he told me I look upset and was smiling/laughing about it. Because of this toxic environment, I requested a new driving instructor. However, she was very unreliable and constantly bailed on our appointments after just 2 sessions. The first day she made an excuse, I came to the school to meet her, assuming our scheduled lesson was still on and I saw her parked there on her phone. She came out to me and told me she isn't working today and asked if the owner didn't tell me. For the next two weeks leading up to late April, I would send her messages on our scheduled days asking if our lessons are still on for the day and she would always have an excuse. By the following week, it was already the end of April, which is the time she previously told me during our first lesson she would be leaving for vacation. To make matters worse, soon after I filed my complaints about them to the DMV, they suddenly changed their billing policies in a message they sent me, claiming a "pending payment" and demanding upfront payments for all future sessions, which I was previously never required to do so. The timing of these new financial demands were odd to me. Horizon Driver Education failed to provide me with safe, professional, and reliable driving lessons. I was effectively left stranded and unable to complete my driving lessons. Please save your time and money and go take lessons at a certified program that actually respects student safety and basic business ethics.
