If you're in Nice and want a unique experience, the perfume workshop at Molinard is a must. You start by choosing your favorite scents from a wide selection of top, middle, and base notes, then the instructor helps you determine the measurements of each and blend them into your own custom fragrance. The measuring part was a little tricky for me (especially when certain notes needed much more than others), but the staff was so helpful and made sure it all came together. I ended up adjusting my picks and loved the final result. You're supposed to wait seven days before wearing it so the notes can fully settle, but I couldn't resist trying mine right away. It already smells amazing. The best part is they keep your formula on file, so when you run out, you can order another bottle of your exact creation. I can't wait to start wearing mine every day. It's such a special reminder of my trip. Highly recommend this experience! read more

My daughter and I did a perfume workshop here and really enjoyed ourselves. The shop is lovely. We were escorted into a back room and were told all about the process of perfume creation. Then we smelled & wrote down scents we liked and then were expertly guided in making our very own custom scent that we then brought hole with us. read more

If you love perfume this one is for you! This was a really fun experience and a great way to escape the afternoon heat and sit down for a bit. We booked the perfume making experience through Viator and pre paid so all we had to do was show up! They offer various times throughout the day, we picked a 2pm one. I have done perfume making before but this experience was much more hands on and custom which I loved. The instructor walks you through the different levels of scents and then you have time to explore and try them all to pick out your favorites. She then came over to each person individually to help you find the perfect combination. Once the scents you like are selected she wrote out the specific measurements of each scent that need to be added to the bottle. You then use little pipets to perfectly fill your bottle. Then it's time to test your custom perfume! I loved how mine smelled, they also keep your perfume information on file with everything they need so if you would like to order the exact custom scent in the future you can which I thought was really cool! You then get to take home your 50ml bottle of perfume! It was a little expensive (about $95 per person), but it was fun and you get a nice perfume - it was also comparable to another perfume making I did and I felt like this was a better all around experience. read more

It seems most people have reviewed the Molinard fragrance tour/workshop but this address is for the actual retail shop in Nice. From what I have read there may be a Molinard tour that picks up here but I'm not positive. Either way, I'm just reviewing the shop itself. We were wandering around Nice and happened across the shop so we stopped in. It's small but elegant and the associate working that day was very helpful. She knew how to balance letting a guest try different scents and offering suggestions based on likes and dislikes. To me, Molinard fragrances are very sophisticated and it was difficult for me to choose a favorite. I really loved the Chypre Charnel and Oud Magnetique but Habanita eventually won out and I purchased a bottle. It was very helpful that their perfumes were offered in smaller sizes so that I could bring them back to the US on the plane without issue. Really a lovely shop and a pleasant experience. Do stop in if you're visiting Nice. When I return I'll have to make it a point to take the tour as well. read more

Awesome experience we'll never get anywhere else. Found out about the three big parfumeries on our trip to the French Rivera and was excited to try our hand at concocting our own perfume. Molinard's workshop runs €69 for 50ml bottle that lasts a little over an hour and requires you to reserve a session in advance.....and is the only one that has a workshop based in Nice. (We were lucky they happened to have a time slot open for later that same day to squeeze into) Fragonard offers a similar experience €69 for 100ml but is only offered once a week at either Grasse or Cannes so is more difficult to secure, Galimard €49 for 100ml with multiple time slots each day but is only offered at either Grasse or Eze which are both more difficult to get to on public transport. They give you a quick review about the different type of notes (top notes, heart notes, base notes) then you go through and choose all the scents that appeal to you. Then you go through and see how the scent transforms as you mix and add in the different selections. Once you have your combination down, they will go through and ask you which ones you like the best and based on that give you the breakdown of how much of each scent to put in your bottle. Then, voila! You have your own personalized scent for you to keep!!!!! It's such a unique experience and you end up getting a bottle of great quality perfume. They also keep your concoction on file so that you can order it anytime you want to online. Do yourself a favor and book in advance!!! read more

Good perfumes. Somewhat high price? I am not sure what is considered high on perfumes here in France so I wouldn't know. I do know however that the staff was beyond helpful. They spoke very good English and everybody we talked to, helped us out to pick exactly what we were looking for. What I loved about it even more is that the sales reps were not trying to shove it down your throat Meaning, they weren't pushing you, almost, forcing you to buy. We came here about 3 times because we forgot our wallet and then other people wanted to buy something so yea. All-in-all great experience. The fragrance workshop was the best thing I did on our whole trip to France! It was such a wonderful experience, I wish I could go back and do it all over again. Our guide walked us through the history of Molinard and their small museum within the shop. She then walked us back to the perfume workshop. She explained the top notes, heart notes, and base notes and left us to smell all 90 of Molinard's scents. When we had selected our favorites she expertly created a signature scent for both my husband and I from our selections. She really NOES her way around this work - our perfume/cologne came out perfectly! (harhar) After she selected the perfect combination of scents, she came up with the formula. We were given pipettes and instructed on how to create our signature scent from the "recipe" she created. A dozen or so exact measurements later, I had made my perfume - a scent unique to me and just lovely. My scent is also now on file at Molinard so I can reorder online anytime I want! Perfection! A special experience that was such a treat. I would highly recommend this to anyone! read more
