The staff couldn't have been friendlier or more knowledgeable. They took the time to chat, make thoughtful recommendations, and answer my many questions without any pressure. I was specifically looking for German fragrance brands to make the souvenir more special, and they helped guide me toward some incredible options. I ended up speaking with the owner, or at least I think he was, and he was an absolute delight. He was warm, funny, and clearly passionate about what he does. I left with something completely unlike anything in my collection, and I'm thrilled every time I smell it. When I need to buy luxury perfume brands or particular scents, luckily for me this shop is down the street from my house and also has a wide selection of products that are normally sold in Neiman Marcus back home in the USA. I was able to find such skin care as Shisedo or scents such as Bulgari or Chanel.

A very upscale and expensive department store. Back in the States it could be comparable to…read moreprobably Bloomingdales or Saks Fifth Avenue, but when I glanced at the purse selection it doesn't look like they have some of the high end European brands for sale such as Burberry, Chanel, Prada, but luckily those boutiques are a short walk away. They mostly carry European brands but have some American brands such as Tommy Hilfiger, Juicy Couture, 7 Jeans. I did see a decent handful of sales tags on every floor, but some of the items were still just too pricey. However, the Longchamp bags on sale were a deal. They also offer a food court and I picked up a ton of German chocolates to bring home in their basement confectionary department. This department has a variety of candies from some you can find at their local grocery and department store such as Kinder to Niederegger to California brand Jelly Belly. Overall I would recommend a stop by Alterhaus just to check it out. At least you can buy some chocolates if nothing else catches your eye. Alterhaus and another department store, Karstadt seem to be the one of the very few stores in the area that close at 8 instead of 7.

It stocks everything from cosmetics (on the lower ground) to home decoration and even cafes, restaurants and food shop. I must add that I love their food shop, especially during Christmas times. Oh, I wanted to buy everything on display. Chocolates, cheese, wine, you name it. There are also areas where you could sit down and enjoy champagne *ahem* or just coffee. Bring a bikini bottom, towels, flip flops and a robe. They will provide a wrap, which you will cover yourself with to be modest. Upon entering, you will change and then enter the bathing room. Pour warm water over yourself, and then lay on the marble heated platform. After about 20-30 minutes, you will have a good sweat going. I reserved Indulgence 3, which involved a scrub, that took a layer off like an eraser, suds, and an oiled back massage. It was super relaxing and lovely. After, you are provided shampoo to wash your hair. Use your towel for your hair, put on your robe, and enter the lounging room for refreshments. I enjoyed a pomegranate tea and Mezze, which were both perfect. The only thing I didn't like was the use of air fresheners instead of essential oils to scent the room. I would prefer aromatherapy in a damp heat. If you are adventurous, I would recommend this experience. If one existed where I live, I would go again!
