After trying 5 other African restaurants in Paris, I finally found my favorite!…read more Food/drinks: Excellent, as in clean the plate excellent. I heartily recommend the theiboudienne (Senegalese national dish of red rice, veggies, and fish). I also have good reviews on: fried plantain, mafé (peanut sauce with rice), and the local juices: pineapple ginger juice (someone at the table ordered 3 times, it was so good), bissap (hibiscus juice), and - my favorite - bouille (a thick beige drink made from the fruit of baobab). Service: On my first visit, I had some difficulty getting there, so half our party arrived after the kitchen closed. They kept our food hot for us and didn't rush us there at all. We ended up chatting with the chef and tasting some rums before leaving too! Ambiance: Cute! It's has a classy yet homey feel, African art for sale, and a garden vibe. I can only imagine what it would be like with other people! It was so good, I had to go again (and it didn't disappoint)! If they can maintain this experience, they have a customer for life in me! Highly recommended.

The food was mundane at best, the vibe (with exception of the food and music) was anything but "African" and I felt the food options were very few. Not really impressed.

I felt soooo out of place in my dress clothes for work" Boyfriend: "Oh yeah, forgot to warn you about that...." Under his recommendation, I went to Bar des Amis for some couscous. Their menu is pretty simple, a GIGANTIC bowl of couscous, a large bowl of broth, and a meat of your choice. The prices is about 8-14 euros depending on the meat you get. I was told to get the sausage, which I was told was made of beef, but it tasted like lamb. I think they have other stuff too, because I saw another guy eating something with fries, but their main menu is couscous. Was the couscous good? Yes it was! I didn't like the meat, but I was tempted to finish that giant bowl of couscous...I only succeeded in finishing a third of it. I wish I took a picture of how giant it was. The place is small and homely, standing at the corner below the Suresnes Longchamp T2 stop, with nothing else around it. but beer on tap and in bottles is available. Also wine and juice, as expected. If you're lucky and those old men that smell like BO aren't there, you'd have a really nice and plentiful meal. They also have a TV there for you to watch if you are eating alone, and was surprised that I chose to sit not facing the TV. Honestly, my French just isn't good enough to be watching French television, but maybe my few sentences fooled them. WARNING: They don't take credit cards...
