His standards of workmanship are extremely high and the quality of the frames he sells in his store is superb. He is great at helping customers find the best frames for their face. He knows more about lens prescriptions than the optometrist I went to and he caught an error the optometrist had made in my prescription. Because of this, Haig saved me money, time and frustration. I work nearby and one of my friends who was desperate for new sunglasses before the Long Beach Grand Prix wanted to see what they had, after looking in the window we went inside and were met with an accusatory tone that we were not actually there to buy anything, but only looking, the manager actually told us to leave, this is the most rude and condescending place, I don't see how it even stays in business. If you go here have thick skin and be prepared to overpay at least 50 percent for the same thing you can order on line. I came to Paris Optique one weekend because the frame to my glasses broke. And I desperately needed to get them fixed. I brought my glasses into Haig, he informed me that since it had been such a long time since I had an eye exam, he recommended I have this done first and then come to get my new glasses through him. Because I did not have spare glasses, he lent me a frame for my lenses so I could see! I had not seen a gesture like this since I was in the south and I really appreciated his kind offer. Haig is a true craftsman of the old school. He makes the glasses himself. Nothing gets sent out to a lab. I couldn't read with my progressives and was told other places that my prescription was off, or the lenses were poor quality or the curvature was wrong. Haig diagnosed that my lenses were cut so badly that the reading portion was largely missing. He remade the lenses himself with a high quality glass. I now see perfectly whichever way I look - distance, computer, and finally reading. In the future I will only ever have Haig make my lenses. Thank you Haig! read more

It's obviously more difficult to write a review for a store like this than a restaurant because in the end you're not saying "the chicken was dry" you're saying the proprietor is not good at his job. And there's always the possibility that personalities just rub each other the wrong way but I'm pretty sure that isn't the case here. Dropped in a few weeks ago, checked out a pair of frames but didn't have time to wait for him to create sunglass lenses so went back today before a lunch at Laurel Tavern reckoning he'd have an hour to get it done and I could pick them up after. Found the frames but the owner quoted a higher price this time and when I went to take a self photo on the iphone (cos the lighting makes it difficult to judge through sunglass lenses) he told me I couldn't do that. When I asked why he had no answer but asked me to leave his store because I wasn't going to buy anything. Don't know about you but to me that's plain silly. As regards the other reviews here they sound suspiciously similar. And the person who wrote that his prices are reasonable obviously wasn't quoted 450 dollars for glasses that have a retail price of $395 - I checked elsewhere. read more

Haig is SO extremely helpful and amazing when it comes to picking out your glasses. I've always found the picking of new frames to be quite tedious, but not with Haig! He gave me his honest opinion on every frame that I tried on which is what I need. I'm not a fan of the chain stores that just tell me every frame looks great. Because let's be honest, they don't. Not only is Haig amazing, his collection of glasses frames AND sunglasses are absolutely stunning. Everything I was trying on was hand made and had a billion times more character than glasses I have seen before. I was on a time crunch with my frames and needed them within about 4 days of purchase and there was zero issue making that happen. I picked up my frames right as I was heading out of town and they were just as fantastic as when I bought them. It turns out that my glasses are almost identical to the glasses Zoey Deschanel wears in the show "New Girl"-- trendy! The prices are phenomenal, Haig is great, and so are the frames! My advice? if you want a pair of glasses with an obscene amount of character, go here! Went in to buy a set of clip-on sunglasses for my John Varvatos glasses. The guys were really helpful and made me feel glad to be in there. Haig took a look at my glasses and asked me some things about them. Turns out there were several things wrong with how they were made and the choices for coatings, where the reading, intermediate and far distances were placed etc. Haig comes from a very scientific point of view when it comes to this stuff. He is a true craftsman when it comes to lenses. He also told me the frames were not sitting right on my face and took them from me, proceeding to adjust them. He popped out the lenses and heated the frames up, made several adjustments and totally without trying them on me and doing fitting after fitting like some places do-never really getting them right, he just adjusted them, looked at them, tweaked them some more and then said "here, try this." I swear, they fit perfect right off the bat, no further adjustment needed. I'v never had my glasses adjusted that well, that fast and without having to keep trying them on. And....they fit better than ever before and the reading portion even seemed so much better lined up for reading. I am going to go back to Haig with the prescription I get from my eye Dr, buy my new frames from him and have him make the lenses for me this time. He is far from my area-but it will be worth the drive there and back several times. I was just there that day because I was working at CBS Studio's across the street at the time and wandered over there during my lunch. I swear, the last two optometrists I have been to, my NEW glasses have had to go BACK to the lab to be re-made because they never got them right the first time. One place my lenses had to be re-made twice. I am very sure I will not have this problem if Haig makes them for me. Absolutely positive. I just moved here from San Diego and was looking for a place to get my eye and sunglasses fit to my face better. I had just got them but they never felt quite right, even after numerous adjustments (and arguments) with the last place. Haig knew immediately what was wrong and fit both pair to my face at no charge! I actually want to wear my glasses now...well I have to...but they feel great! I have a narrow face and small head and everything needs to be adjusted. He did it! I almost started crying cuz I felt like he understood what I needed and what I was communicating. Also, he very professionally explained that the lenses in the sunglasses were glued into the fames, indicating a poor fit---they improperly cut the lenses and had to glue them into the frames to fit. I just recently moved into the neighborhood and have been hunting for a pair of sunglasses for awhile. I have a very narrow face which is a hard fit and have NEVER been able to find a pair of sunglasses that not only fit me well but have some style. Enter Paris Optique :) Haig immediately pulled out a pair of Ray Bans that are PERFECT! I know what you're thinking..."this guy is raving over a pair of Ray Bans..big deal" I forgot to mention that this particular frame is not available ANYWHERE in the US (not even from the Ray Ban website). That's just how good Haig is. He regularly travels to Europe and has a selection of frames that is both stunning and unique (so you won't see anyone wearing the same glasses as you soak up the rays). Not only is his selection off the charts but he grinds his lenses in house (and he is very very good) so you can pick up a pair of glasses that are unique and custom to YOU. So now you're thinking "ok..this guy sounds great, but I bet he's hella expensive" WRONG! Not only did I get a perfect pair of sunglasses but he gave me a TERRIFIC price! He knows glasses and how they fit your face better than anyone.
