Park House is now called The Mona. Great place to be on a cold night, especially if you get to sit by one of two fireplaces. It's kinda of loud and it has a surf vibe. There are a number of different rooms, live music, and a terrific new children's playground. They have a lot of activities from pool, karaoke, trivia night, and the live music, amongst the many offerings. The diverse menu has something for everyone. I had a vegetarian burger made of falafel patty, grilled zucchini, pickled onion, beetroot relish, coconut labneh and chips, aka fries in the States. It was a bit dry, but the flavor was good and the fries were above average. Aussie Son had fish tacos with battered fish, pickled cabbage, jalapeño, pico de gallo, coriander, and lime. He liked them except it was a bit heavy handed in jalapeños for his taste buds. We plan a return visit with Aussie Grandson to try out the playground. read more

I had a racist bartender named Max and when I confronted the manager named Sam he kicked me out! the food is really good but they get you on the drink prices, awesome environment, they've clearly spent a lot on making the place look good but haven't spent enough on the staff, not enough staff at any given time! read more

This was actually a pretty cool pub. I had been past here a year or so ago, but at the time it was undergoing a complete refit, so unfortunately, I didn't have an option to jump off the bus at Mona Vale for a beer. This time it was completely different, and the pub itself was pretty cool. Okay, the service was good, but not really the best, however, they did happen to have a great selection of beer on tap, which is something I did quite appreciate. Got very exy for what is it and garlic brick ('bread') was inedible Used to love going here for a bite and drink after the beach...but since the last time.we were here they have changed their head chef and the food in my opinion has gone downhill significantly. Had the burrata starter, tasty but for $17 mean...a small handful of halved tiny tomatoes, literally 2 leaves of baby greens, small ball of burrata and some tasty picked onion. The fish and chips special was good value if the salad was rather over dressed and the paper under the fish surplus to requirements, in fact got soggy from the salad dressing and had to be picked away from the food. It was the garlic bread that was inedible. It was a brick of heavy dough, in a lump with a burnt bottom, heavy doughy centre and burnt garlic on top, 2 tastes by each of us to just check it was so bad...and $10 for this treat!!! My final comment is on the sparse wine list, if you're going to have a section "pinot grigio/gris" with 3 options, maybe one of the only 2 that can be bought by the glass should be a pinot gris.....overall, very disappointing for the spend. Imitation is said to be the best form of flattery. Much controversy about the menu at this place - allegations that it borrows heavily from a chef who was invited to come on board but couldn't for various reasons* We went in the hope that there would be nothing left of the old Mona Vale hotel because that place was a dump. The new place is a Hemmesesque do over and the transformation is fantastic. The food is very good but the real highlight is the service. I don't know how the owners have managed it but every one who works at this place has mind reading skills - before I even knew I wanted one our gorgeous server asked if she could get me a beer. Champagne for the girls? Of course! Suggestions for food and starters were perfect and for once the service continued through to the bill. Which was extremely reasonable. The food is middle eastern with brilliant octopus lamb and meze shared plate dishes. It's really good food and comes out fast...from the kitchen that is. Love this place and highly recommend it! Definitely one of the best places to dine out or grab a burger on the Northern Beaches. The renovation is a huge success and is nothing like the old Mona Vale Hotel. Food Merchant's Restaurant is higher end and the the food will certainly tantalise the taste buds. Food Merchant's Bar is great also, really good burgers, pizza, and more. The Truck Stop is cool and the perfect place to enjoy a craft beer, wine, or whatever tickles your fancy. read more
