It is never to crowded, especially the mornings are nice. There are all kinds of trees, birds (yay!) and other small forest animals. It is great to walk and relax. Inside the forest are many paths, big ones and small ones and you can easily spend a few hours strolling around this place. It is also very popular with dog owners. If you own a car and live around Amsterdam, I highly recommend going here, because it not a far drive from Amsterdam. If you have kids; near the parking lot is a playground and a children's farm with cute animals.

We loved coming here as children, to learn about the forest or do treasure hunts. We would gather beukenootjes (beech nuts?) here, which we would bake into delicious cookies with the help of a recipe my mother once found in the NRC. I went back today with my baby brother who is three now, and we had a great time going to the playground and the petting zoo. When he's a little older, we'll take him for walks here, and perhaps make beukenotekoekjes with him too.

Fantastic Park for little kids!…read more This park is great! We visited Amsterdam with our 7 year old son, and we saw a lot of history and culture. It was good to go to Amstelpark on a warm day and do all the little kid things. We biked to and through the park. We splashed in the big wadding pool, rode the small train through the park, tried to go to the petting zoo but it closes at 3pm (but we still saw some animals), my son played in the playgrounds, and rode on the little rides. He was so happy. (I would say 7 or 8 years old would be the oldest ages that would really enjoy this. Ideal for 3-6 year olds).

There are vast expanses here, playgrounds, ball fields, a wading pool, a restaurant and long trails where you can bike, hike or ride your horse. Fortunately, throughout there are signs that tell you where you're going in case you wondered. There are streams and associated bridges throughout as well though the streams appear to be stillwater. I can't be sure. The water didn't seem to be moving. It's a small forest hence the name Bos. I'll have to go back and explore further.
