I received a gift certificate for my birthday and finally took the time to go for dinner. My husband and I were greeted by such a welcoming staff and felt right at home from the moment we arrived. Since it was off season, we were given a private tour of the Victorian house and tower on the property. Before dinner we walked the gardens and pool area. Once inside, Laura and her staff provided us with several hours of the most amazing food, wines, and great information on each dish. I wish that I could give this experience 10 stars. It's hard to express in words what an amazing evening we experienced at Park Winters! It was by far the best culinary experience I've ever had! John and Rafael are wonderful hosts and the staff is delightful! We were taken on a tour of the property and Inn that was gorgeous in every way! We then ordered signature cocktails and were seated to begin our culinary adventure! Each course was beautifully displayed and the taste was exquisite! We enjoyed a wine pairing with every course and couldn't be more happy with the choices of the sommelier. At the end of the evening, all 3 chefs came out to meet us and explain the final course, which was a wonderful end to an amazing experience! Last night my partner and I had a delightful evening at a very special place in Winters CA. You start with a cocktail and walk the gardens outside. They first bring out a little tasty teaser of spicy tuna on wafers. Yummy! Then, come sit down for a seven course tasting menu. It started with a fresh garden crudités on top of little gem mousse with was kind of like creme fresh but lighter. Really an awesome dish. They came out and poured a freeze dried vinaigrette over the top. The next was pan seared halibut with fennel and celeriac mash. Loved it! Agnolotti in Brodo was next. Stuffed pastas in a rich broth. I loved the broth so much I could've pick up the bowl. I liked the pasta but wished it has a little more bite to it. It was very delicate and tasty though. Next was the trio of duck. They had a powdered foie gras which was like eating nothing and the rest of the duck I wasn't crazy either about which is odd as I love duck. But then the lamb chop came and wow! It was the best lamb chop ever with a mint yogurt sauce along with a lamb reduction sauce. Yummy! They then brought by a lemon sorbet to cleanse the palette... #beyondlove. Then the carrot cake dessert with caramel sauce and marscapone ice cream came and I lost all conscienceless. I want to start everyday in that happy place. I might have to invent a new breakfast cake cereal called "Park Winters Carrot Coins." read more

We couldn't have enjoyed the afternoon and evening we spent at Park Winters more. The food was simply fantastic -- I enjoyed it more than I did the French Laundry. The setting was so beautiful. John and Rafael were genuinely warm and welcoming. This place is obviously a labor of love for them. We are lucky to have them here in Yolo County. Well worth the (admittedly steep) price. We spent a magical evening at PW on a Friday evening in May. The whole experience was wonderful! Owners John and Raphael have a fabulous vision going on in Yolo County. A nice cocktail and walk among the gardens, seeing the pool, visiting the mansion, climbing the Tower Suite prefaced a great dining event. Seeing local folks we knew added to the small town friendliness and comfort. Meeting new friends was icing on the cake! The limited seating allowed normal conversation - very nice! The service was impeccable - European professionalism without being intrusive. The chef, sous chef and staff were very helpful with any question we asked, whether food, wine or history of the ranch. The visit to the kitchen topped the evening. The food and wine (& beer!) pairings were spot on; plan on sharing a pairing it works better matching the tastes with the pours balanced without overindulging! Chef John Iacono and his staff prepared a creative menu with styles/flavors even a foodie wouldn't try at home - the value is palpable and the experience is over the top. One of the best meals of my life, mostly because of how whimsical the food is! Of course everything tastes amazing, the dishes are thoughtfully composed, the ingredients made of the highest quality but it was the creativity that really got me. This is a once in a lifetime place: to propose, celebrate a new baby or job, and so on. It deserves its perfect rating. This restaurant is about a half hour drive, along country roads, from where we were staying. We went with another couple that had wanted to double date; they had put this place on their "must" list when they moved to the area six years ago. It's prix fixe, and they are very considerate about dietary restrictions. It's locally sourced, much grown right there on the land. A wine (or actually wine and beer) pairing is available. That was excellent. The sommelier was gregarious, one of those people in food service you'd like to invite to sit down at the table. There was a mushroom soup, hearty and earthy; a carrot dish; two mains, a pork dumpling in a delicious broth and then a duck that was more fatty and rare than I've ever had. Also a dessert. There were three additional amuse bouche bites. Everything was at the eighty percent mark in terms of fresh from the farm or field; ninety percent in terms of preparation; and one hundred percent in terms of presentation. That's praise -- my wife and I have had the privilege of dining at places such as Joel Robuchon and Michael Mina and Gary Danko and Atelier Crenn (this is a once per year splurge or hosted by others, not a habit, lest anyone think we're just rolling in the dough). We agreed this is not quite at that level, but then it's not at that price point either. It's the next step down, meaning expect to drop $200 a head. The service was as friendly as could be. I dropped a carrot from a dish that had carrot six ways. The one I dropped was the big carrot, so they prepared another little plate just for me, from scratch. That was thoughtful, especially since it was my own fault anyway. They were slow, I assume deliberately. We were there more than three hours in total. But they gave us a complimentary course to make up. All around, super friendly. I unintentionally insulted the chef when he came out to chat. I told him he could move to San Francisco and make twice as much. He said they were fine where they were. But our comments explain this place: it's what "foodies" would crave, in the countryside. To sum up, this was a great experience. If I were wealthy or had another important occasion, and I were in the Sacramento-Davis area, I would not hesitate to return. As it is, I am glad we went -- it will be one of those memories of friendship that is more important than anything we actually ate. read more

I was fortunate to attend the preview party a couple of weeks ago and was very impressed. But for dinner this past Wednesday it was taken to an entirely higher level. Attention was paid to EVERY detail, from being greeted at the parking lot, to the last bite of desert. There was nothing more that anyone could have asked for! Executive Chef Scott Ostrander presented a fabulous menu created with ingredients from the regions local farmers and every course was outstanding! We selected the wine pairing with our dinner and I learned a lot about wines and how they interact with particular foods which just added to the presentation. I've been fortunate enough to dine at the region's best restaurants, and I have telling all of my friends that the measuring stick in this area has just changed. Chef Scott has set the new standard. So much so that I will be there for their Valentine's Day menu and I am looking incredibly forward to it! read more

This place is other-worldly. There's a feng shui about this place. You feel the passion for excellence of the relatively young but talented and well-chosen staff. Every course made me wish for a smorgasbord of that particular gem, but then my brain told me that there's more, so don't succomb to the intoxication of awesome. We chose the sommelier's wine pairing menu, and all we're quite nice, but my favorite was the Northern Cote-de-Rhone (won't tell the chateau because I want to buy some before you do, but it starts with "St"). They had not yet expanded their wine list, but it was well-curated so I didn't care. We were so caught up in the vibe of the place, we just decided to spend the night. I had the pleasure of dining at the new restaurant at Park Winters. What a breath of fresh air in dining! Having been to Park Winters for various events, I wondered how they would transform an event environment into an intimate fine dining experience. Any doubts I had were erased once seated and the epic dining experience began. Imagine - a seven course dinner - each course so unique - each bite a joy. The common thread, however, was the freshness. Farm -to-table is almost an over-used term and it is not really needed to describe the menu . It is a given that each ingredient is local and is fresh. A prix fixe dinner included a potato cannolo, sunchoke soup, tortelli, quail, trout , and Smores for dessert. The presentations were so amazing that there was a slight hesitancy in eating it so as not to destroy it! One of the best meals I have ever had. The setting is gorgeous with the the rustic feel of the bed and breakfast and dining in the converted barn. I was able to explore the gardens as I drank an old fashion. The steps the bartender took going into making my drink came through in the balance and flavor of the old fashion. I even got to check out the farm as one of the chefs were cultivating vegetables which were going into our meal later that evening. The multiple courses told a great story of the bountiful ingredients in this region. The food was whimsical in concept, for example eating deconstructed salad out of a bowl made of ice with dry ice creating a cold mist. The techniques and execution were spot on, everything cooked perfectly and presentation I rarely see. The Inn at Park Winters is a true dining destination, there is nothing like it in this region. The experience is worth the drive and the expense! read more
