We ordered the app sampler...always hot and fresh (unlike the Lindsay location) the pinto beans are always cooked to perfection (unlike the Lindsay location) anyways, there was a hair attached to one of the fried pickles and they were nice enough to only charge us half price for the sampler which I think was $14.99. The kids love the indoor slide. The outside however, please watch the parking lot. The lot has many many potholes or more like craters. The lot definitely doesn't get any love. We were passing through and decided to try this place out. It was pretty empty on a Wednesday night but we were seated pretty quickly. It is pretty well decorated and they have a big slide for kids. I got the 20oz sirloin to share with my daughter in MR on the rare side Mashed potatoes with brown gravy Asparagus Broccoli Corn And a salad My steak was on the medium to med well side Mashed potatoes tasted like grits Asparagus was completely burnt Corn also tased like dirt. And the broccoli had a weird taste but I didn't like any sides so I forced my self to eat it And the salad was the only decent thing because of the ranch. I ordered to go. The menu stated we would get Texas toast and a side of beans. What additional side did we want? We both got a steak and baked potato for $40. Both were extremely dry. We ate an early dinner so guessing the potato was left from lunch service. We didn't receive the beans. This is my 3rd time trying this place. The first time they lost my order and took an hour in the drive thru. The 2nd time they never received my order. And this time all of that worked but only partial order was received. Service was the best I've experienced. Very welcoming and very friendly. We managed to squeeze in a reservation for 20 people within short notice of time and the staff was very helpful. Food was great and good portion size. The meats were all cooked right. I picked the mushroom Swiss burger which was delicious. I definitely would try it if it's your first time and if you're into mushrooms. Can't go wrong with steak though! The water here tasted fine. Run! Far far away. Avoid this place at all costs. We drove over an hour hoping to share a nostalgic experience with our kids, but it was a complete disappointment. My steak was still mooing when it arrived, with blood pooling on the plate. I sent it back to be cooked to medium as ordered, and it returned as a charred piece of leather that was inedible. (We also noticed several tables sending their meals back - I overheard too much gristle in the meat and poor quality steak.) The Texas toast was nothing short of terrible, the butter served was curdled and runny and fries were soggy and gross. Our kids' cheese sticks had the strangest breading, and the ranch dressing had chunks in it that I initially thought was blue cheese. How do you even mess up a loaded baked potato?! The bacon wasn't crispy, no sour cream, and once again...the butter--what kind of concoction were they serving? Every part of the meal was inexcusable. While our waitress was kind and tried her best, the restaurant itself has gone so far downhill that it will never recover in this market. To top it off, we had a gift certificate that the poor excuse of a GM refused to honor, claiming the owner stopped accepting them years ago. She had the opportunity to do the right thing and deduct the amount, but her inadequate training and lack of professionalism were the final straw. Not a soul on the dance floor, music stopped at 8pm, and restaurant was only 1/4 filled on a Saturday night. That tells you everything you need to know right there. The only saving graces were the slide that kept the kids entertained, and McDonald's on the way home. Really a disappointing experience! Went to Traildust and noticed the sign that indicated you get a free margarita with dinner. Ordered such and then when I ordered my meal off the earlybird menu they said we couldn't have the margarita and tried to upsell us to a full-size ribeye Dinner. I'm sure they were frozen the fried but they were good. Salad s come in small metal bowls and the salad is average. Again nothing about it stood out. It's just a salad. I order the 16 oz ribeye with fresh cut fries. Honestly the fries were better than the steak. The steak had a good flavor but the ribeye was very thin and had more fat than I like. It's just a very simple dish with steak and fries and that's it. My wife for the 8oz center cut filet and it was very good. It was way better than the ribeye but again it's a center cut so I would expect it to be better. The steak was cooked medium as we ordered. The drinks are in big glasses which I love. The bread you get is Texas toast. Nothing special but not bad. The servers were very pleasant and the customer service was good overall. I'd give this place a solid 3.5 stars. It's not remarkable but it's not bad. I would go back but mostly out of sheer convenience. We dropped about $75 before gratuity. I'd rather go to Saltgrass for a steak. read more

The staff is very friendly, and our waitress did not fail to deliver southern hospitality and charm. The place is well sorted and accommodates large groups with ease. It has a very entertaining that will keep your kids entertained along with giving you thrills, if you dare! Occasionally, there is a live music, and there is a full bar to keep the good times rolling. The food was warm, and appetizers are a good value. It's a bit on the more seasoned or salted side, but balanced out nicely with sides. There is an "off the menu" appetizer platter that I suggest you and your party try! An attempt to hit Babe's in Sanger made us choose between an hour or more wait for a seat or a new location. We chose the latter and ended up at Trail Dust just around the corner off the highway (I35). We did not regret it. Came in to the sounds of a one man band. Dude was playing three or four instruments at a time and it impressed me. The interior looks like an old school wood railings steak house. A big bar on the side as you walk in, we got there at about ten to 7 and so My wife was able to order a drink right before happy hour ended on a Saturday night. There's a big dance floor and a big slide which makes the place look like it might be lively on occasion. The kids were using the slide but nobody was on the dance floor. They have long tables and there were a lot of big groups this night. It's large and open area seating. We tried the fried mushrooms as an appetizer. The kids decided to split a chicken fried steak plate, and my wife got a filet. I decided on the bone in ribeye. It's tomahawk style, a little thinner than I'd like but priced appropriately in the mid $20 range. There's no shortage of food here as you get a side or two depending on what you order. I took a salad and loaded mashed potatoes as my sides. I also had the pecan pie loaded with two scoops of vanilla ice cream. I almost didn't share. The ribeye bone is so big my boxer is still chewing on it two weeks later. Long story short, it's not an elegant place but they do Texas right as a legit steakhouse. Kids enjoy the slide. I think our bill was in the $90 range for everything- a beer, fried mushrooms, filet, ribeye, chicken fried steak, and pecan pie. Server very nice lady as well. read more

Many memories. This Traildust used to be on 380 on the other side of Denton (crosswoods?). It was our go-to with our brother from Mesquite. The service is always top notch, leaving us wanting for nothing. This location is my son and my "go to" place for a good steak dinner.on a "guy's night out." Also love to bring out of town friends/family here. Everything on the menu is well cooked, done to each person's preference. Never have had to send anything back. Never. Do love the kids playing on the slide. Interesting note ... the dance floor/band stand was moved to the other end of the place. Most of the times we've been there it's been quiet enough to carry on a conversation. I will avoid during times of live music (due to my own music preferences). If there is a downside, it's the parking lot -- an absolute disaster which will swallow up your vehicle. ;) read more

Things looked good at the beginning: Made some reservations online, verified information with the staff through the phone, and I was looking forward to having a great dinner with the family. They were even able to change the phone number on the reservation for me upon request so that I would be notified. However, on the day of the reservation, 30 minutes when we were meant to be seated, I get a call telling me that they're closing early due to not having customers. I live nearly an hour and a half away from the restaurant, and they had the gall to call me 30 minutes before my reservation just as my family and I are finished parking. My husband and I like to try a new restaurant "off peak" hours so that we can get a true picture of their service, menu and food. So, we went here at 4:30 on a Friday. Our waitress, Jazzmin, didn't have any other customers. Yet, our initial drink order took almost 10 minutes! Then, our food came out cold because all of the young waitresses spent their time bs-zing with one another. Waitresses nowadays think they if they take your order and simply bring you your food..,that they deserve 20%.! We pay for service..,,she got zero tip!!!!! Drove over an hour, for friend's birthday. Multiple people had to send their steaks back, because they were either cooked improperly or they were the wrong steaks, altogether. The server finally had to go in back and take a photo of the 3rd steak on a scale, to prove it was what was ordered. Went there with 8 co-workers for lunch on a Tuesday at 11am. Got sat relatively fast since it was not crowed and the sever came to the table and took our drink order and appetizers. He were it started to go wrong. Appetizers came to the table and the server asked if we wanted plates. I guess she thought we would eat of what they came on? Then they took our order, which was steak since this is a steak house. Then we waited for over an hour for our food to arrive, meanwhile various people came in after us ordered and ate while we still waited. Finally the food arrived. My steak along with 3 others were over cooked. By then we were starving so we ate and left, as we had a meeting that afternoon at 1:30 we were getting close to that by the time everything was over. Very comfortable Service I came with my HOG group ( Harley Owners Group) and we had about 20 that attended. We had 2-3 servers and they were attentive and did a good job with a lot of orders. The food came out in a reasonable time. Food It was excellent. Is was told the fish was very good and the steaks and salads looked and I was told excellent. I stuck with a burger which was tasty. CONCLUSION: if I could I would give 3.5 stars. It is better than a 3 but since a restaurant really is about the food it doesn't deserve a 4 either. This will be my first review that includes a NEUTRAL in addition to PROS and CONS . PROS: Fun atmosphere. Great decor. Live music and dancing. Wait staff are very friendly. Device is usually excellent. . NEUTRAL: the food is ok. That's it. The steaks have a good flavor but the quality is not the best. Mostly what I would spect from a low end (ie chain with huge salad bar) steak place. Side dishes are decent with a moderate quantity on the plate. .
