This hostel is in town and was perfect! The owners are very friendly and exceedingly helpful. They searched the place for an adapter for my American camera charger. They do speak some English, as well. Breakfast (Frühstück!) was lovely and only €4. We could eat as much as we wanted from a lovely spread that included cheeses, meats, breads, 6 kinds of jam (plus honey and Nutella), cereals, yogurt, and juice. The rooms were so clean and the bathrooms were spacious and sparkling. We didn't want to leave. We felt as though we were guests in their home, not customers. :) Inquire about staying here when in Meißen. You will not be disappointed!

The location is centrally enough located in Saxony that it's easy to make day trips to Dresden and to a wide range of other interesting destinations. The location right on the Elbe, with direct view of the Albrechtsburg in Meissen, is perhaps the most romantic I've experienced on my several trips to Germany. The restaurant has a varied menu and both indoor and outdoor seating options. On the whole we were quite pleased with our stay and would definitely choose this hotel again if we are ever in the area. The *sole* reason for my not giving the hotel a 5-star rating is because the WiFi (W-LAN) service, though free, is in no way adequate for anything approaching current needs. Advice to management -- upgrade the W-LAN, and your place will be practically perfect in my book.
