Unhappy to say, I attended this place for seven years before returning to a much higher quality public school, in a higher-quality state, I might add. There's a common misconception that private schools provide higher quality education than public ones; I can safely refute this. The one thing I knew the school to do well was English, but two of my teachers in this field were very ill-equipped and unsuited for their positions, as were several others who were the only teachers they could find (read: keep through the good ol' boy system) for a particular subject. To be fair, I enjoyed my first few years there, being young and impressionable, believing the A Beka curriculum's anti-evolutionary pseudoscience (and worse, their blatantly anti-Catholic stance, and I know several Catholics that went there!) to be irrefutable. Those first few years, the band program was in excellent shape, which was about the only credible music activity, other than Pioneer Sound, in which you had to be able to sing AND dance (there was no choir, go figure). Then it went downhill my 9th grade year, when we had a change of band directors; the band, I soon came to realize, was my source of enjoyment there. (I hear it has improved tremendously in the ten years since I left, thankfully.) But my ill feelings about the place never recovered. In addition, you must remember that this school was founded as a response against integration in the 1970s, and some of my worst memories surround the unabashed expressions of racism among many (not all) of the 95% white population. Second, the overtly religious assemblies gave way to a herd mentality, almost cult-like. Third, this school is run by ultra-conservative Christian fundamentalists, so there is no room for dissenting opinions. If you do, at best you're frowned upon and subject to incessant gossip; at worst you're sent home with a note to your parents threatening expulsion. Even my still-very-conservative parents noted this and have a negative opinion of the school to this day. Bottom line: If you're looking for a school that encourages critical thinking, diversity, and Christian LOVE, this place is not for your children. After having attended public school all of my life, it was quite a shocker to have prayer before the start of every school day. I'm not sure if the education has been improved or not, but I spent my last years at high school here and it did not leave me prepared for college. Lucky I had enough schooling before I started this school. I've heard that the public education at McComb high school would have been better, but I was already having growing pains being in the South and finishing high school there. read more

We love Parklane Academy. My children began attending Parklane in 2011. We homeschooled for 5 yrs. previously to enrolling our 3 oldest children in the North Pike school system in 2010. My children were ahead in most subjects at North Pike. They all had many problems being bullied and harassed on a weekly basis because we are JW's. Parklane is a christian school. The student body has chapel weekly. Many teachers pray or talk about their faith in class. We found Parklane very tolerate of different faiths. . Academically I've been pleased with Parklane. The class of 2015 had an average ACT score of 23. The average ACT of the College bound outgoing Senior was 26. Two of my children graduated from Parklane. I feel both students have been prepared for college. My oldest son breezed through his first 2 years at the community college. My daughter will be attending Millsaps in the fall .A close friend graduated from Parklane in 2010. She received a scholarship to Southern Miss. and has graduated sucessfully as well. Pike Co. schools are pitiful. I believe Parklane to be the best option in this area. read more

For years,I attended this school. They say they're preparing students for "the real world",boy,that couldn't be further from the truth. Last time I checked,it was not okay for teachers to make racial slurs regarding African Americans to your students,just because there are none in the class you are teaching. They enforce their rules & dresscode only to people who's parents do not have monetary influence on the school or community,or unless u play football. Everything they do is grounded around their football team,so,for everything else,including their limited curriculum suffers. You pay more for a year to go there,than u do at the local community college,& the school's yearly tuition hikes go to support things for the football team,such as new uniforms. If you're having an issue with something in a subject,don't ask like 95% of the teachers to help you even though they teach the subject,because they act like spending time to explain it is gonna kill them-if you have issues with eye sight or hearing,don't even bother because the teachers will refuse to give any extra effort to help even someone with a disability out-if u don't get it the first time they explain it,sucks for you when it's test time! I transferred in high school(&Lord if anyone ever transfers outta there,they stir up the rumor you're pregnant or got someone pregnant)to a public school.I learned more in my last 2 yrs of high school in the public school than I did in the many years I attended parklane. If it wasn't for the public school,I could have never made it in my Advanced English class in college. The public school prepared me for life after high school,for jobs,and for the real world. If you want to pay thousands a year for your child to be talked down to like their an idiot,and for mediocre education,this school is definitely for you.if not,& you want quality education &a diverse learning experience with a good curriculum,send your children elsewhere. read more
