It really pays to get something done professionally like this, especially if you have that special photo or picture that you want to display, because a trip to the Wilkinson frame department is not always the answer.

They have a wide selection of frames - verging on the old-fashioned side but I am getting particularly bored of the Ikea wooden box frames so that is fine by me - and a lot of mounts (the cardboard bit that sits between the glass and the picture. Choose the colour to bring out the best of your picture). They also have a lot of greetings cards to choose from. Again a little old-fashioned but certainly good enough to find what you need.

Right on the corner of the Wesway Precinct/Scott Road and opposite the bridge leading to the car park, the shop has useful stocks of art and craft supplies along with helpful and knowledgeable assistants. The windows are always filled with a glorious display of prints - funky and unique to retro and cool, to traditional and gorgeous. Framed signed footie shirts sit next to psychadelic coloured Oasis/pop group images, cuteness animals next to awesome skyline prints from around the world. Original works of arty (signed by the artist) next to contempory prints. It's simply a fantastic collection, and there's something for everyone's wall there. Simply a plethora of framing options are available here from your traditional styles right the way through to something more artistic or modern numbers - all very professionally done. They have a good selection of the actual frame as well as the glass itself. Being in the picture business they obviously have some outstanding pieces on the wall to mesmerize - keep an eye out for the Balloon Festival sketch. At the risk of tempting customers from Barry Toogood's up the road, the cards on sale out front are some of the sweetest and witty creations I have ever seen. A wonderful little shop really.

Glass is not the only product on show though. As the name of the shop suggests, frames are also for sale! They have loads and loads of frames ranging from the ordinary to the extraordinary. But over two floors it does surprise occasionally. I found some oil paintings downstairs that I liked and they have some small sculptures on show as well. The best bit, however, is that they are official stockist of Roald Dahl / Quentin Blake prints which are just the most heart-warming, quirky and fantabulous things. At £75 a pop they aren't cheap, but would make a grown-up present for a kids wall (or to evoke those childhood memories!). They also, quite randomly, have Beano and Thunderbirds figurines! The proprietor is really friendly and welcomes you to browse. Different exhibitions are held in autumn and spring which shakes the stock up a bit. They also offer a framing service.

It's always worth popping in if you are in the area and even though most of the work will be out of your price range it's always nice to have a little look, and too a certain extent judge the work on what you feel would be worthy enough to appear on your wall in your house! With some good prints on sale even if you can't get an original there will be something tha tickles your fancy and is well within the limits that your wallet has to offer!

Originally Bedminster Library, the Grant Bradley Gallery has been supplying wall space to both…read morenational and international artists since its inception in 2005. This is the perfect antidote to the bruisings and spinnings of my weekly shop in the Bedminister Asda next door. Last time I sought solace in the Bradley was after a particularly taxing time involving a self-checkout - the stunning collection of textiles from an artists' collective put pay to any feelings of shop-rage. The underlying ethos is for approachability, so you wont get any of those arty affectations. The Bradley is totally welcoming, and is just as much a place to sip lattes and get your nose into a good book - they have a mezzanine floor with huggy sofas, a selection of secondhand books to peruse, high whitewalls that induce calm and there's always some top-draw art to goggle. There are life drawing classes, talks from artists and arts' events for budding Damian Hirsts during the scholl holidays. Also, the giftshop is a good place to seek out that individual gift - my girlfriend had to practically be manhandled out the door after discovering a must-have range of handmade handbags for under £10.

They had a very interesting exhibition on from artists with learning disabilities when I last visited. They have a new area at the back which has a selection of second hand books - profits from the books go straight to charity.

And this shop is no exception. I went in today for some more practical bits & pieces and didn't think I would find anything useful at a reasonable price (for some reason this shop has a reputation for being quite pricey) but I was very pleasantly surprised, not only did I find a great selection of the sketch books I was looking for, but the prices were very reasonable and I bought a pen. If it is possible the man who served me was too helpful. I mean as I walked in the front door the sales assistant was stood right in front of it and asked if he could help, which is fine, I said I was just looking, then he asked again and sometimes, especially in lovely little art shops, you just want to potter around looking at all the bits & bobs. Nevertheless he was very friendly and being helpful isn't a crime.

I first noticed it when we were in the 2 hour queue for the Banksy Exhibition . We were feeling creative and wanted to try out our graffiti skills so went in search of somewhere that sold Spray Paint. Weirdly Bristol Fine Art didn't sell any which was disappointing, nonetheless we had a snoop around and they sold some really great arty stuff. Prices were pretty reasonable and I have since noticed that they have started to stock spray paint. A great shop to pop into for any arty things, but also for some great gifts as they sell crafts too.
