Since this park is pretty far (by foot) from city center's embarcadero, there's rarely a lot of people in the park, especially early in the morning. Based on my very general estimates, the park's outermost loop is about 1.5 miles (2.5kms). In terms of running/jogging/walking, I find the park to be quite pleasant because it's pretty clean; the trails are clear and wide; and the terrain is really flat. Although the park has plenty of trees, I did notice that there wasn't much shade on the outermost paths. I guess this normally would not be a huge problem in Santander since the city can be a bit cloudy and rainy. However, during my recent visit (summer 2026), the sun was really bearing down on me. LOL, during my a couple of my runs, I was like: Man, some shade would be really nice right about now. But, I will say that the park has PLENTY of water fountains/spigots that has ice cold water that runners can use to cool off. Although I primarily use this park for my running/jogging adventures, I did notice that there are quite a few small playgrounds for the kiddies; some permanent fixtures for calisthenics; and some picnic shelters throughout the park. Also, the park has an interesting raised platform trail/walkway that goes through a small marsh. Final thought: While this park probably is not consider a site worth visiting (from a tourist perspective of let's see/do something exciting), I love the park for its tranquility and ease for running/jogging.

The most stunning beach I have seen (although admitedly I have never been to the Caribbean ;), set…read morein El Sardinero, an iconic area in Santander, where you can also find a very distinctive building, the Casino. This beach is something worth seeing, especially when the tide is down, and the First and Second Sardinero beaches are joined through the corner under the Piquio Gardens, and then the First Sardinero beach is joined at the other end with the Concha beach (Shell beach). You can then walk them all up and down, having 1km and 500m more or less to walk each way. You can also walk the seaside walk all along it (and further more all the way to the city centre) without interruptions! If you like a good beach, I thoroughly recommend this one.

It's hard to describe a beach, so fortunately there are a lot of nice photographs to look at here. What I love about the place, one of the things, is the tides. When its out you can go and enjoy all the sand but when it comes in, there are great waves. Actually it is a great surfing beach and many take advantage of that fact. Oh, on Sunday mornings the soccer league has their games on the beach. Nice!
