I find this is among the best places to bring kids. There are 3 playgrounds, plus a few other spots for them to enjoy. There is plenty of space for riding bikes or scooters without worrying about cars. The park is safe. This is also a nice place to have picnics. You can also have birthday parties here. You just have to call and make a reservation. The park itself is mostly well kept. There are a couple tennis and racquetball courts that are in bad shape, but the basketball court, track, moratorium, playgrounds, and some tennis courts are in good shape.

You can tell you are there because there is a light, if you turn left it's into the beach area and paid parking ($5). Or turn left and you can park on the street for free. We walked across the whole park and explored, took pictures, ran from chickens (well roosters), etc. If you go later in the week there is a restaurant that is open (Wed - Sat or Thurs - Sat). That would have a pretty cool view and is in a pretty old historic building. On the way back we walked across the civilian bridge towards the beach. The second we got on the bridge we got cooled off because the beach breeze made it that far. Walked back along the beach and had some additional photo opps. Keep this in mind, the heat of the day it does get warm. It's easy, relatively flat walking, but hot non the less. Take some water so you don't get over heated. We'd recommend this as part of your stay in San Juan if you like exploring historical type locations.

But as is the case with beaches in Puerto Rico, avoid it during very late afternoon and night time unless there's a special event of some sort. There's an awesome nearby hamburger joint, creatively called "El Hamburger" :-P where you can have the best cheap burger afterwards. Or perhaps go to Old San Juan or Condado, which are both less than 10 minutes away by car. ---------------------------------------En Puertorro, ahora------------------------------------ Bueno, definitivamente no es muy buena idea escoger patinar cuando está lloviendo a cántaros, en este parque o donde sea... Por supuesto, como en todo parque y playa en Puerto Rico, no es recomendable estar ahí en la noche, para evitar robos o situaciones lamentables, salvo que hubiera algún evento especial en que haya mucha gente, claro. Cerca de ahí, como a 5 minutos, hay un sitio de hamburguesas que se llama "El Hamburger", y es muy bueno. A year ago I was state side, doing camping trips, old people out door concerts and things I didn't love to do. I was going with the flow, enjoying company and the things he loved doing. Women tend to do that. Today I'm on this beautiful beach, with family and a wonderful human who came into my life because I trusted my gut, have self respect and worth. In trusting the signs and my gut feeling, I left a 2 year relationship thinking I had wasted time on another "cheater". Talking to other women while you're in a relationship is a HUGE no in my book. Especially when they tell you it's nothing to be worried or upset about because they are just friends; but as soon as you leave they get with the person who is younger than you, who they said they weren't attracted to and wasn't their type. Marriage is always the goal for me in any relationship. I'm a lover girl. His stance was our 15 year age gap was a factor. Talk about never wanting to date an old man again! Ladies, old men lie too. So do not settle or think cause they're old that they are more mature or better. They are actually worse! (In my experience.) In fact, I truly believed I wasted time up until this trip. However, I didn't waste time. The Universe was preparing my life and time aligned perfectly. I met the most beautiful human who takes loyalty, kindness, and faithfulness seriously. He is so against "friends" and any woman who makes me feel uncomfortable. Lesson: Gods plan is better than you think. Continue to love without hurt so the one who comes can honor the beauty that is you. I've been traveling this year since I met my man and he stops at nothing to give me the best life. And it's places I want to go and things I want to do. He's younger so we do fun things and life isn't repetitive. So as I look at this beach, I am sitting here in awe. Grateful for him, his generosity and for letting me pick all the places I want to visit. A good man is a man who protects your peace and your feelings. Thankful for unanswered prayers. HIGHLIGHTS: This is the beach you want to spend time on. The sand is perfection. It's less crowded and just a vibe! This beach has a stand for Jet Skis. Our blended family wanted to Jet Ski and this place has them for persons 18 and older. It's located in the same area as Marriott Isla Verde resort, where they have their lounge chairs for guests. The beach is public so anyone can come, however since this Marriott is near the end of the street, it is less crowded than our beach area. And nothing to the left, just a few families that are locals. We've come everyday because the Jet Skis are the fave for the fam. Definitely recommend this beach if you're staying at these resorts. They are not the most luxurious hotels but not bad by any means. If you're a local or using an AirBNB this may not be the best option as there are no showers, etc in the area. Definitely for hotel guest mainly, as non public as you can get.

The Río Piedras Tennis Club is located here. They open everyday and offer classes. Located adjacent to the park are a basketball court and a soccer/field hockey field. But they haven't been well taken care of. If you have kids, dogs, or like playing tennis, I recommend this park. It is centrally located, right on Domenech Ave., which has lots of good food options.
