Parraxaxá is a very informal restaurant serving traditional north-eastern Brazilian food. The decor is rusticand the waiters dress like Lampião, the 1930s bandit, whose warcry inspired the restaurant's name. Help yourself to whatever you want from the extensive buffet: you pay for it by weight. Specialities include sarapatel (liver, heart, and blood stew), linguiça de bode (goat sausage), and surabim (a river fish). The great thing is that you can help yourself, so you can experiment and try whatever looks good. There are lots of different cakes for dessert. Try the torta de limão (lime meringue pie) with a dollop of doce de leite (caramel sauce). I've had lunch here three times and dinner once in the week that I've been here. This was a great place to experience a lot of the northern foods all in one location. The atmosphere was great and service was also nice. The food is paid by weight and was decently priced. They have an English menu as well if needed. I would definitely go again. read more
