Came here with a new friend I made to sing karaoke. I told her my birthday was coming up and she wanted to take me out for it. Now I love singing so it was a no brainer for me. Being out and it being around meal time, I opted to have a meal. I had a chicken, rice and beans dish that was awesome. I hadn't had the thin, crispy chicken you'll see at many places before but whoever cooked this was very on point. I also got my free dessert via a Yelp check-in deal a staff member told me might not have still been active but I did get birthday singing and my first ever experience in a birthday sombrero (you've got to watch where you turn your head when wearing one, by the way). When we walked in, we saw a few people but it didn't feel like there was much activity. That changed as the night went on. I was trying to gauge song options but it seems here, you just pick the song and the host will see if it's available online. I've got to say the lady hosting it is very talented and was wonderful to us. I sang an Amy Winehouse song that's sort of epic mean but amusingly blunt and a joy to sing. I had no clue what reception I'd get but when I finished I saw the entire place looking at me, applauding and the host insisted I sing more. I also got to sing Madonna's "La Isla Bonita," which I'd not even thought to sing and I helped my friend when she was singing with me. She also got praise for her singing and I feel got her own love from the crowd. As we left, people complimented us so that definitely felt really good. I'm not in this area so much but I'd return if invited back. You will certainly find great Spanish songs here as that's what many others sang. I'll probably have to make "La Isla Bonita" a go to since I do tend to sing it automatically if I hear it. read more

I love this place but seriously this place is a gem. The food is great, friendly staff, good drinks and the singing! I've gone to their karaoke nights and they are fun with fun hosts that entertain but also don't ruin your whole meal bugging you. I have had a few family gatherings and birthday celebrations from 10-25 people and the owner and staff have been accommodating and amazing. My husband and I found this restaurant via Yelp while standing in a crowd of people at the 82nd Street stop on the 7 train. After five and a half relatively quick blocks, we found this restaurant, which has a festive vibe with cool Mexican-inspired decor and music. The staff were great, especially our waitress Bridget. The quacamole for the table was made fresh in front of us by another staff member who wheeled a cart over with fresh ingredients. We had chimichangas, which they accommodated my request to substitute with shrimp. The rice with pinto beans was good (not frijoles). The meal was really delicious. Every staff member there works extremely hard. They were professional and very nice. I'd recommend Parrilladas Sunrise to anyone in the Queens and NYC area. It's worth the trip. My friend and I stopped in a few weeks ago to redeem drink coupons we received from somewhere for a complimentary margarita. No complaints there. With the new rules in the city you have to order food with drinks at most establishments and it was no biggie since we had drinks coming our way. We both got frozen coconut margaritas and they were tasty and medium level boozey-ness. It was like a more adult version of a pina colada I feel. The menu is fairly medium-expensive priced so we settled on just an appetizer of empanadas. I think the waitress was confused when we placed our order because she asked us both what type we wanted and we both were like well, shrimp. Which was what we decided on for the order. She comes back with two orders of empanadas when we clearly said we only wanted one order. When we corrected her, she got really angry and huffy. I was debating ordering another drink but she literally just grabbed the other order of empanadas and stormed off. Ten minutes later another waitress comes outside with our check. Talk about weird and emotional service? Also, an order of empanadas is just 2 pieces for $8. They're not very large either. Decent amount of shrimp but let's be real - I can go across the street to mama's and get a sack of empanadas that taste better for the same price. They karaoke is extremely loud, maybe a little too loud but hey it's Sunday night. The food was delicious, great Mexican food. Hands down. Went here on Saturday night with my family. Really, really enjoyed Parrilladas Sunrise. It's a great addition to Jackson Heights because, the atmosphere is lovely, the food is quite delicious and the staff is warm and friendly. I think the outside of the restaurant doesn't do the inside justice. Once inside, you have completely entered Sunrise! The bar is quite lovely ... there is then a single step down to the restaurant floor, and the step is lit up with blue lights. It is very trans-formative and it works! So a trio of hungry friends were seeking a late night Mexican spot around 11 40sh.(A time where most establishments close up) So we did not have many options. We saw the reviews for this establishment and decided to hit this spot up. When we entered we just hear loud Spanish music and some karaoke in the back. The establishment was so loud that the waitress can barely hear what we was trying to order. I got a super chicken chimichanga ,my boy got a super steak burrito and my other boy got a breaded chicken platter. The waitress was nice and was professional.Food was good and came as described. I liked the food the chimi was crispy the red sauce was nice and spicy .The environment was bad , some lady was singing off beat and the music was off beat and no rhythm at all (our boy pointed this out and he Dominican and an expert in Bachata) but we all came to a conclusion that the place was wayyy too loud and ruined the atmosphere while we was eating. I could you not my eardrums felt as they were going to erupt while staying too long. We got our stomachs satisfied but in return had headaches. We quickly paid our bill and left. Wow! Where do I start. This Resturant came recommended by a long time resident of east elmhurst and although my boyfriend was apprehensive about trying yet another Mexican restaurant we were quickly made aware this was anything but that! Service was incredible our server was attentive and quick. Drinks were a bit watered down but oh so tasty and STRONG ( we both had frozen margaritas) food took a while to arrive but we realized this was because everything was made fresh and to order my enchiladas rancheras were the best I've ever had and my boyfriend really loves his carne asada. I've been here for sit down and take out and this place is consistently delicious! I went most recently for a coconut margarita, which was supper strong, I had a steak vaquero, my mom had an incredible steak quesadilla and my friend mole enchilada. The mole sauce was out of this world. The guac was made fresh in front of us which was also pretty cool and they do karaoke on the weekends. We also got a free dessert of our choice for checking in. Stumbled into this restaurant on mother's day. I was hesitant at first given that it's relatively new and there aren't many reviews for it. The place is still waiting on their liquor license, so don't expect to quench your margarita thirst at this establishment just yet. Although, they do have a selection of virgin drinks. While their menu is extensive, don't stray off too much from what this business advertises in their name, their grilled dishes. The prices are reasonable for generous portions of meats, poultry and fish grilled with vegetables and accompanied by a side of rice, beans and tortillas.
