(20 minutes) *Walk to Whitecross Street. (10 minutes) *Head to Fix Coffee - get all the coffee possible. (10 minutes) *Husband to Waitrose for supplies. (SOLO, lucky duck -- this is what I get for refusing to cook). *Me with dog/baby to Fortune Street Park. (30 seconds from Waitrose) *Sit on a park bench, enjoy green space, nice park, loads of other children/babies happily chirping, eating at picnic tables, kicking balls around, playing on playground, etc. (5 minutes) *Spread baby out on blanket (4 minutes). Put back in buggy (2 minutes) *Let dog relieve herself. Responsibly dispose (15-45 minutes depending on her mood). *More coffee from Giddyup Coffee Cart in park (THANK GOD - 2 minutes) *Meet husband, walk back with all the groceries. Baby sleeps. Dog half asleep. *Return home! Happy, caffeinated parents, full refrigerator, all beasts with fresh air in their lungs and sleep in their eyes. There's a good under 3s section with a ball pit and 2-stage climbing frame (soft). There are some sit-on soft toys and some blocks. The floor is a bit suspect and there's a bit of an old smell to the area - nothing terrible but you do notice it. The play equipment appears safe but could be in better condition. The main soft play is a triple height affair with climbing, balls, slides and chutes. It's safe and in better condition than the toddler area. At weekends and after school this place can get packed but, during the day it's not too bad. A cafe facility is available serving teas, coffees, soft drinks and snacks. The prices are reasonable. Tables are kept away from the soft play being behind a low wall. They are OK but there's not a good view of the play area meaning that it's hard to have a coffee and take care of your child. For many parents this just seems to mean that they don't watch their child and so you do have to be careful that your child doesn't get set upon by unrully kids. It's not a particularly comfortable place but it's a good local option for a rainy day. Car parking is available.

There is simple seating around the edge for parents from which they can still watch their little ones, and magazines to read. There is a small separate area for pre-walkers with soft play, and appropriate toys. The centre also sells hot drinks and snacks and there is a small seating area for this, complete with high chairs. Parking is a bit of an issue but they do offer partial refund on your ticket if you use the local council car park.

It's a large expansive square that is entirely closed on each side (comforting for those with toddlers that like to escape). There are multiple play areas for different ages that are fun and have quite a bit to do. My son found his way to the one water portion of the park and sat in it for approximately 3 hours. It was a bit unkept unfortunately, but I blame that more on annoying parents that think leaving their busted pails and spades and water bottles is "helpful." It's not helpful, pick up your shit. The water was kind of gross as it was standing for quite a long time, so while I wasn't thrilled with it for the gross factor, he loved it and they splashed around for hours in the sand and water, so -- there you have it. There's a small cafe within as well -- best for ice cream. I went for a bottle of water and they were "out of water today." I've probably never heard this before. Weird. So, ice cream it is. Overall it could use a bit of a facelift but its a great green space in the city to take the kids!
