This very large open space park has multiple entrance points. We walked here all the way from the starting of the Rio Santa Lucia, back at the downtown area of Monterrey. It was a long walk but didn't seem so. Here, you'll find plenty of shaded places to sit and relax. They have good clean restrooms, as well as places to buy typical street food snacks. They do have a high end restaurant that requires reservations and a lookout point. We didn't do either of these. We walked all the way to the Puente Verde which is a pedestrian bridge over the main highway.

This is one of the most open, beautiful parks I've been in. It's about 16 km from entrance to the…read moreold dam. The road winds it's way close to and across an old, usually empty riverbed. There are a variety of well-marked and mapped hikes, climbs, and bike paths. There is a lot of activity in the park, even after dark. I recommend driving through it, even if you're not interested in getting out to explore it on foot. Also, this is not a pristine, sterile public space. There are private homes, businesses, and communities within it. That is off putting to some, but it does help keep the space active and somewhat cared for despite government neglect.

Well-maintained, peaceful, and perfect for nature lovers or a weekend escape. Note that getting an Uber can be tricky since the park is HUGE once you get to the main entrance and there is a lot more to drive to which Uber's may or may not be willing to take you to. We got a driver who we paid extra outside Uber to take us further into the park.

I dedicated a full day to exploring the park and ended up hiking roughly 14 miles roundtrip from the visitor center to El Pinal Viewpoint. There is a really cool fountain, called Neptune's Fountain, that you can't miss! You can also see the Faro Comercial, which is a bright orange obelisk that is a monument to Monterrey's business orientation. Around the park are also many historical buildings and museums, including the Monterrey Cathedral, the Mexican History Museum, the Monterrey Contemporary Art Museum, and the former palace of the governor. Overall, it's a very nice public space to walk around in and hang out.
