The required visit time is about 1.5 hour. This place is only a few minutes from Coimbra. The area divided into museum, the cover mosaic, coliseum, theatre, residential, town hall. The coliseum is medium size to host big event. The theater is for performing art. Town hall is people gathering area. We found several locations have the mosaic at the floor. Some over the residential house. The museum is kind of small. Basically just less 10 minutes visit.

We were visiting Portugal and connected with Ryan of Catavino, a travel specialist in Porto to show us a few of the unique wines/wineries of the region and he brought us to this quiet little village around an hour from Porto to explore this special place. We were guided on our visit by their talented winemaker/owner and started with a visit to some vineyards to learn more about their organic farming practices. Upon returning to the modest winery we proceeded to taste recently pressed juice, moved on to barrel tasting then a variety of their current releases. Everything was fantastic from the sparkling wines and whites to the big bold wines made from the special Baga varietal. As a special treat he even opened a 2009 in addition to the 2014 and 2015. We spent nearly 3-hours on our visit at this special spot and will look for the wines on the states as they do have some distribution there.

The ground floor has two temporary exhibitions, which I believe are free to view. There are three floors of ceramics, furniture, and painting in the permanent collection. It began as a private collection. It has a nice variety of pieces spanning historical periods and the world, with a focus on Coimbra, naturally. The building itself is quite lovely. The three euro ticket will give you access to the permanent collection, as well as entry to the Torre de Almedina (a city history museum) and the Torre de Anto (a fado museum). The ticket is valid for two weeks, which means you don't need to cram all three into one day. The museum staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. I wasn't really in the mood to chat, yet they won me over with their desire to make sure I understood the history of the collection and enjoyed the art.

Quite a bit is imported (mainly from Flanders), and is supposedly 'nativised' - I'm not sure what's wrong with embracing it as Flemish in its own right but anyway it's still excellent art. There're also some Roman remains and a few sculptures underneath, so you get even more bang for your buck. Admission is only 6€ and the collection is pretty big. There's some oriental objects too.
