The menu changes every two weeks depending on what is fresh and available. While the food was excellent, what puts this restaurant at a five star level is the personalized service. It is a one man show in here - he is probably the owner, manager, and wait staff all in one. He came over to our table, had a small talk about our tastes, and suggested an excellent red wine to go with our meal. So far this is normal for most restaurants of this caliber. As we were finishing our meal, he came over and asked if we want dessert. I was hesitant and my husband was too full for dessert. However, Mr. All-in-one (I cannot remember his name) encouraged us to try the dessert and then brought us some dessert wine to try (on the house!). He explained to us how this particular wine pairs well with the dessert. The best part is that he genuinely wanted us to enjoy our meal and experience his wonderful hospitality. That alone puts this restaurant on the five star level. Service beyond excellence and the food is delicious! One of the highlights of our culinary tour of Helsinki.

We were unable to get a reservation online so we decided to see if we can walk in and we were warmly received. We were given a very comfortable table in the center of the dining room. We opted to order the steak and fries, as well as escargot and the smoked trout. The bread service was also outstanding. We paired our meal with a cocktail and a glass of wine. Service was very friendly and helpful. We then finished with an apple dessert. We almost returned the second night, but we were too tired from sightseeing all day. I highly recommend this location and would definitely return in the future.

The breakfast was always fresh and delicious. It had a decent selection of foods; typical of many hotel brunches. One of the coolest things about breakfast was the breakfast beverage machine. It was controlled by an iPad. Touch the iPad and select your juice of choice (or water), put your glass in the proper place and press start. It had an auto setting that knew just the right amount of juice or water to put in each glass. Not in the mood for a full glass? No problem, select the custom setting and stop it at your desired amount. In the evening the restaurant morphs into a very cool place with a lounge type setting. There was a nice selection of music playing at an acceptable level. The English menus are on android tablets (Apple in the morning and Google in the evening). Selections can be made directly from the tablet and once you're ready to order either call your server via the tablet or submit your order. Every entree I saw looked very delicious. Because of the time (it was later than I liked for dining) I opted for grilled chicken Caesar salad. It was very fresh, came with a decent serving of chicken and just the right amount of dressing. They also served bread (with real butter) which was delicious. Another really cool feature in the restaurant involves more technology (surprise, surprise). Some tables are equipped with "Power Kiss Hotspot circles" that can be used to charge almost any device. Ask your server for a "charging ring" (just specify what type of device you have) and they will provide the appropriate ring. Plug it into your device, place the ring over the "Power Kiss Hotspot circles" and your device begins charging. You gotta love technology (I do) I plan to try other entrees on my next visit so stay tuned for future updates.

The buffet line has a section for vegetarian and regular hot meal food. There's also a separate corner to grab your own tea/coffee as you wish, too. For ~€12 and quality all you can eat lunch...this is a very very good deal! I did try everything from the buffet line and they all tasted fresh! I had 2 full plates and a cup of tea..and didn't feel bloated after eating so much afterwards at all. If I had time to come back to Helsinki again, I would definitely want to have lunch here again. I debated goinf back there again my last day in Helsinki but unfortunately didn't have enough time to go back there...else I would be back there again! We also had the Chateaubriand with madeira sauce which was really good but not in a way I would have to have it every time. On the other hand the fish with lobster sauce and prawns would be my choice for the next time. Environment: Place looks like an old ballroom with large chandeliers and decorated wooden booths. The interior is so old that the restaurant doesn't look dated at all instead it's more historic. Went in with my parents (70+) and they really liked the old charm of the restaurant. Besides the beautiful decorated booths there are lot's of tables and also bigger tables to seat groups. You still probably want to make a reservation before hand. Service: Service was not the fastest maybe due to being Christmas party season in Finland still the restaurant wasn't packed. But Finns get quite demanding during Christmas party season when they are drunk and the company pays the check :) All in all service was good and CLASSIC. Waiters knew the list, beers and wines and could suggest you different choices to go with your dish. Price: Price wise I would say average. It's not "expensive" but it's not cheap. I ordered the smoked salmon with hops and butter sauce, and it was superb. Perfectly cooked salmon, still rare inside. Not overly smoked, and a sauce that complemented it perfectly. I truly savored every bite. Oh, and their beer is great too. Perhaps not the cheapest place, but certainly not outrageous. And for the quality I think we'll worth it. I would definitely come again.

I was advised that Bryggeri Brewhouse might be open so got a reservation. When we arrived, I was told that the reservation represented seating inside with table service, but it was a beautiful evening so we opted to merely order from the fast casual counter and have the food delivered to us at a patio table. Our food was really good. I started with a serving of the salmon soup which had been recommended as a Helsinki specialty by our guide that day. I have nothing to compare this soup to, but it was outstanding. Great flavor, perfectly prepared salmon. The starter serving was more than enough for an entire meal, so I shared with the rest of our table. For our main courses, my wife had the sloppy joe sliders and I had the wild elk meatballs with mashed potatoes. The meatballs were wonderful, perfectly done, good flavor and matched well with the potatoes in the gravy provided. My wife found the sloppy joes to also be very tasty with a bit more kick than such an offering in the United States. The buns they were on were perfect and the entire serving very large. One other dish to comment on that was ordered at our table was the Chicken Burger. Do not get thrown off by the name burger and expect a ground chicken patty. This is a full-size chicken breast perfectly fried and with excellent condiments and sauces. So, food, 5 stars. When it came to the beer, there are only a few of the offerings available at the patio stand, so I was not happy with choices given this was a brewhouse. I learned later, after my first bland lager that I could just go to the main bar inside and get the full offering. So my second beer was excellent, the Sofia. This entire experience would have been a 5 except for a couple of faults. One was that food took a long time to arrive and came sporadically, and second is that the full complement of beers should be offered outside or the bartender there should inform patrons that they are limited, but 20 steps away they can order from the full list. If looking for a nice casual night out in Helsinki, I can highly recommend this restaurant.
