Being a young woman going to a mechanic when you know nothing about cars is a daunting experience…read more(coming from someone who was charged €80 for tracking elsewhere lol)- especially when you don't have a dad locally. But Richard was the loveliest man- so down to earth. Explained my different options to me and it was clear that he has good intentions and isn't there to overcharge. I had another friend go to him and have a similar experience. Quick and friendly service with great prices. Ann on reception was also very helpful.
What do you want from a garage/mechanic?…read more At the end of the day most of us know nothing about cars and blindly trust the experts. From the second you rock into Sean Hanleys old school set-up and are greeted by Anne you know you've come to the right place. Why? Because you can trust them. They do a great job, don't charge an arm and a leg and don't try and give you the run around. Have used them for three different model of cars, have always been happy with the end product and see no reason to go anywhere else.
O'Callaghan's Garage
O'CALLAGHAN'S GARAGE O'Callaghan's Garage on the Ballyhooley…read moreRoad is a favourite stop for people living in the area or indeed for many passing through. And not just for the fuel and the usual services such as the car wash. Here you can get just about everything you want. The shop is very well stocked indeed with groceries but and they carry some unexpected items (coal, paints, tools, plants) and also respond to seasonal needs. It is like one of the old fashioned one-stop country stores transplanted to the suburbs. Into DIY? Then go out to the yard and you can get stone for your drive, cement and sand for your foundations, kerbs, garden edgings and more. And if Finbarr isn't there to give you advice, there is always help available from his multi-national staff. All in all, it is a most unusual store but a very popular one indeed. see also: http://corkandabout.blogspot.com/

He would not let the car leave his garage until he was 100% sure it was resolved. I purchased a 191 Range Rover Discovery 2L from Mallow Road Motors ((MRM) - Citroen Division)) in…read more2023 for €39,000. A year later, I decided to change it because it was heavy on diesel. When I rang around the various dealers, to my horror I was being offered €10,000 to €14,000. Apparently the model I have is prone to engine failure which was not disclosed to me by MRM. When I queried this with MRM, they said they were aware of the issue with this model but had the car fully checked out at the time and were happy there were no issues! I'd love to know what process went into determining the engine wouldn't fail in the future considering the engine failure experienced in these models was sudden with no warning signs. For legal reasons, the above was allegedly not disclosed by MRM because when I later raised this point with them, they denied knowing there were any issues with this model when selling the car to me. For information purposes, I did contact the previous owner (who sold the car to MRM as a trade-in) and this person did confirm the engine issues with this model was discussed. MRM said they would buy the car back as a trade-in so I was hoping as a gesture of good will they would offer approx. €25,000 which represents a €14,000 drop in the price I originally paid. To my disgust, MRM proceed to offer me €12,000 as a trade in which represents a reduction of €27,000 in ONE YEAR. Is this not the lowest of the lowest behaviour. I feel sick in my stomach when I think about it. How do these car dealers sleep at night. Now I'm stuck with the car as I cannot afford to take such a hit. The message here is to do your research on a car your thinking of buying and never trust a car dealer as they are driven by greed.

Fortunately the tire did not lose air and I was still able to drive the car, but we weren't sure for how long. One of my daughters googled "tire store" and she found that Mike's Tyre Centre was the closest to us. As we were trying to find the tire store, one of the friendly employees from Mike's was walking down the street and showed us where to pull our car in. The new tire was on the car and paid for in less than 15 minutes. As for the price, it was exactly what I guessed it would be. The men at Mike's were very empathetic about our situation and recommended we take photos of the tire to use when trying to get reimbursed. They also could not believe that Hertz would rent a car with bald tires. Two months later I'm still trying to get reimbursed from Hertz, but that's another story. If I lived near Mike's Tyre Centre I would definitely use them for my tire related services.

Under the TV screen was another screen linked to a camera in the workshop so I could see my tyres being fitted from the comfort of their waiting room. The waiting room was clean, comfortable and had tea/coffee making facilities + FREE Wi-Fi. I also had my tracking done and the tyre fitter explained to me that not only would it help prolong the life of my new tyres, it'd also help with reducing my fuel consumption. I cannot recommend Bandon Quick fit highly enough. Bandon Quick Fit is located on the irishtown end of the bypass in bandon town.
