Patchwork is always a great time when it comes to Long Beach. We tend to lean more towards the November market since we're always on the hunt for cool and unique holiday gifts, but the spring ones are fun too for an afternoon of perusing. Because it's a short walk from Belmont Shore, we typically have brunch nearby so that we not only find a convenient parking spot, but are well caffeinated before taking on the wares of the day. They do have a variety of food trucks available on-site too if get hungry mid-shopping. The saving grace is usually the shaved ice truck, cause it can sometimes get so hot out and it provides a nice little sweet relief. I love that it's free and there's always a good variety of things to look at. Be sure to bring some sunscreen, a hat, and maybe a tote bag in case you score a lot of goodies. read more

Came here today to check out this arts & Crafts fair. Spent a good 1 to 1.5 hours here looking at booths, buying some chili sauce, and trying a couple food samples. Food trucks lined the perimeter, didn't get a dish other than buying a can of Orangina to quench thirst on a hot day. Parked in the lot that's near the lifeguard museum, had to walk a good 10 minutes from parking space to the fair. read more

Free you say? YES!! What an awesome event. This totally beats those Downtown LA artwalks. Lots of inspiring designers that sell their own work. I saw vintage clocks made into necklaces, windchimes, silk screen wall prints, beautiful artwork, artsy paper goods, shirts, plants, handmade purses. Holy crap these people are so creative! This event made me want to go home and make my own coasters. haha. I stopped by their yelp booth and saw Christina Y. and stocked up on yelpsticks (my favorite yelp swag). They had 3 food trucks. I shared some shaved ice from the got shaved truck. Yummy. It's not 5 stars because the event is really small maybe about 6 rows. It was hard to find any parking. I love Patchwork! I've been to this event a couple times at the Long Beach location. This time was different than in the past. There are twice the number of arts/crafts/gourmet food/food trucks compared to the past. This also meant twice the number of people! The variety has gotten better, ranging from cupcakes to special candy to truffles (chocolates) to gourmet cookies to gluten free salsa and everything in between. The types of arts/crafts included "hipster" type posters to delicate jewelry to scrap leather wallets/purses to print design. Food trucks included Seabirds to Samosa to Cool Haus, there was almost an entire row just of food trucks! Consider going when the event starts to avoid the masses of people. In the past I've always gone when it just open and I wasn't to overwhelmed but this time around I went smack in the middle and there were just people left and right of me. Parking isn't too difficult, just have to walk a little bit. Plenty of street parking along the residential area. Bring cash (some give cash discounts), most now take credit cards via Square. Also bring re-usable tote bags to carry all the loot! I'm looking forward to the next Patchwork! read more

This FREE event is dog-friendly, well organized, and a whole lotta fun! Went with high expectations of really wonderful and different things. Ended up being more of all the same ole thing. How many candle vendors, wind-chime vendors, jewlery vendors do ya need. NO diversity. Same stuff I can get at ANY farmers/craft market. Gonna SKIP IT this year and shop online. OR go to Orange, Pasadena, even Whittier and shop. read more

Patchworks is one of my favorite little local festivals to attend. I always seem to find the most interesting items and it amazes me how creative people can get! From jewelry to dog accessories to children's clothing. There's always a little something for everyone here. This was my first time attending Patchworks in Long Beach, I usually frequent the Santa Ana festival in the past. But figured it was a beautiful sunny Sunday and why not spend it outdoors at a crafts festival. Parking was easy street parking with a short walk to the festival. I liked the set up of the booths being in rows. There were food trucks to feed the festival goers and a booth to quench your thirst. The best part is this festival is FREE! Local media set up a cute photobooth and there was a live craft session as well. Definitely I would come back to Patchworks...It happens twice a year and it's worth the trip. I scored a really awesome bracelet, a cool wallet made of old book pages and baby onesies for a preggo friend! Great unique one of a kind gifts is the perfect kinda gift! read more

Patchwork is a bit like your favorite Etsy shops all in one non-virtual setting, plus food trucks, live music, and cute dogs walking around- it's awesome! This is a festive, free event to learn about and shop from local indie brands ranging from twee home goods to vintage clothing to homemade treats. While a few of the vendors charge a bit more than what I think is appealing for those attending a craft fair, you can find reasonably priced, non-run of the mill items you'll adore. I went to the Long Beach event last month and wound up finding my new favorite Lavender Lemonade perfume oil for only $10, along with vegan Lavender Lemon cookies from another vendor. If you believe in supporting local, handmade businesses, this is the place to be. Do a lap before committing to buy any items you're unsure about- you may find something similar at another vendor's table for less or something else you love more. I've discovered a few new brands made in LA and the surrounding areas that I'm now a fan of, and hope to purchase at future Patchwork shows- they have them at various areas in LA/OC throughout the year. read more

Absolutely great! It was free to enter the festival. You can find lots of inspirations there. Here is what i experienced through the festival. Arts & Crafts: authentic designs, home made jewelries, stylish decorations. These arts and crafts are different from the ones you usually see in shopping malls or art galleries. They have unique down-to-earth designs and good for every day wear or use. One interesting jewelry piece I got was a bracelet covered with real kiwi (Yes! The designer used real fruits for her jewelries). Food: The festival was very organized. Food trucks were all parked at one designated section at the festival. It was interesting that a lot of visitors were holding popsicles, so I got one too (hot sunny day you know..), mojito and mint flavor.:) Location and Parking: In the park next to a bay area. It was sunny and windy when i got there (Luckily i didn't get sun burn). Parking spots at the park were definitely hard to find. We drove around and found street parking blocks away on the other side of the bay. It took us 15 mins to walk from parking to the festival. The is the 2nd year in a row that we've gone to this event, and it is well worth it. They have food trucks, arts & crafts, clothing items, fresh made condiments, sauces, and marinades, cold brewed coffee, and live music. Everything is locally produced. Overall, there are about 50-60 vendors. Prices vary as some vendors are reasonable and some can get expensive. Also, the parking can be a nightmare as it's very limited. (Pretty much surrounded by water) So get there early or ride your bike. read more

I love this craft show. It is very well organized and curated and the location is great too. You can find so many wonderful handmade vendors and really reasonable price points. They also have awesome food trucks and this last year some great musicians too. The entrance is free and it takes place a few times per year in different locations so you can usually catch at least one per year or season. Spur of the moment adventure (with the dogs). Thanks to the Yelp event page, we had a nice outing! We've always liked going to Marine Stadium for events. Luck was on our side and we came across someone leaving a free primo street spot. Just a short walk over the bridge and there we were. Like we always do, we picked up some bento for our own little picnic and ate it at the adjacent Mothers Beach park. Gotta say, this was a very community-friendly event. There were porta-potties at the festival site, but also decent park restrooms nearby. I really liked the variety of crafts here. Some things I haven't seen at other festivals. Browsing was a lot of fun at this one. There was a lot of beautiful handcrafted jewelry to admire. Scored a great deal on some darling baby beanies! Fun crafts fair aimed for families. I enjoyed this one for the mellow ambience, free admission and parking and the various food trucks row that lacks at other fairs like this. Attended the Long Beach event the past few years. It's a great family outing with food, music and shopping. Lots of local vendors and craftsman. Parking is pretty easy and it's stroller/wagon friendly. If the kids get tired/wiggly you can grab a snack and walk across the street to sit in the grass or over the hill to Mother's Beach. Patchwork is a really fun event that happens in Long Beach where a bunch of local businesses gather for an awesome time! These businesses (handmade/homemade things) set up booths with their products for everyone to walk around and enjoy. It's really cool because most of the businesses I never even knew existed, but I was exposed to them through Patchwork. In addition to these booths, there are also some food trucks to keep you going thorough out the day. I ate at the Kogi food truck (YUM!) when I went, but I'm sure they switch up the trucks all the time. Parking is the only difficult part about this event, but once you get past that, it's really fun! In conclusion, this events supports local Long Beach through a very fun event. Check it out next time it is going on! read more

This is a review for vendors and participants or anyone interested in applying or participating in Patchwork. This is one of my favorite events... actually, I really look forward to this each year in spring and fall! The visitors to this show constitute a wide variety of people from a troop of girl scouts to two sweet grandmothers. Nicole and Delilah run a very tight ship and have amazing organization and leadership skills. They have done this so much that running a show this large is ol' hat. They are very personable and if you ever have questions, the response is virtually immediate! Also, you can't beat the entrance fee - its extremely reasonable and again, it's just so much fun! If you are interested in vending/participating, do not hesitate and sign up for their mailing list so you can be notified. The event is juried so some sellers might not be able to participate but for the lucky ones, it's an honor to be part of such a talented group. Either way, vending or just plain old shopping, this is the best craft show in southern California!!! read more

Delilah and Nicole organize a great event! Kudos to the ladies/founders of Patchwork. Extra kudos to the great volunteers who help make it run smoothly directing traffic etc.. Aside of doing hair I also do jewelry. I own a eco-vintage upcycled jewelry line called Le Modern Trinket ( http://www.lemoderntrinket.com/) and have been vending in Patchwork shows now for a few years and prior to becoming a vendor in Patchwork I was a shopper. I have to say as a shopper there are tons of options and unique gifts. The holiday shows (mid-late November in both Santa Ana & Long Beach) are the perfect time to for the holiday shopping. Nothing worse than receiving gifts that one will end up giving away, throwing it in the donation pile or tossing it. (I'm guilty of doing that)... Everything from gourmet edibles (my fav POP Candy), housewares, clothing for the kids, gents and ladies, accessories stationary, plants, jewelry, beauty, etc etc.. The list of creative fun stuff goes on. As a vendor its a wonderful way if you are starting out to get your product out and seen, meet new people and network. Buyers who do wholesale for companies are also out perusing the booths as well. Perfect for getting your product into boutiques and not only on Etsy or craft fairs. In all it's a fun day. Someone mentioned in a review that vendors were not talking to her.. Well, I know for a fact that my voice was nearly gone at the end of the day. I find that the handmade community is a friendly one and have yet to meet a snob. The Patchwork Indie Arts and Crafts Fest felt like a small scale version of the Renegade Craft Fair. http://www.renegadecraft.com/. I discovered the event through the power of twitter (@welovelb and @districtweekly). The arts and crafts being sold there were cute and affordable. In fact, I am currently nursing my deep regrets on not buying those wooden, intricately shaped earrings!!! It was a small area. I walked around passing each booth at least four times. Do Not underestimate the products of each booth just because of the small venue. I hope they will repeat this event next year. It's a cool way of promoting and supporting the local artists and crafters. It's a fun place to shop for neat gifts. It's a great event for everyone to check out, especially if you live in the Long Beach area. read more

This is an awesome event! So many different things to choose from. The vendors were amazing...so many unique pieces. Great way to stock up on gifts for you and your close ones. You probably have to walk around a few times to make sure you did not miss anything, but don't worry there are also food trucks so you can take a break from the shopping. If you know Etsy, this is it's physical shop. Or if you know Unique LA this is it, but FREE yo. This event is awesome. It was a lot bigger than I expected it to be actually. Plenty of rows with lots of diverse things. Not just a lot of jewelry. There were jams, clothing, kids stuff, cards, etc. Best part was it was all freeeeeeeee. Even parking. It is outdoors though and it gets hot. No covering over the three eating tables. But sitting on the curb in front of the inlet of water was really nice. Just don't get sunburned. read more

Very cool event, although it was a rainy Sunday that didn't stop the vendors from lugging their goods and setting up shop. The address to the event was a bit deceiving because I found myself in a residential town house area. I was about to park it but I really did not want to trek miles in the rain to get to the event. Exited the residential area drove up a couple of blocks and saw some event signs and I ended up parking in another residential area that was closer to the event. The event was a bit smaller than most other craft fairs but there were a good amount of vendors. The run down of the types of things that were being peddled were jewelry, cards/stationary, posters/prints, and t-shirts. I personally enjoyed sweet perversion they have some clever shit, check them out on etsy.com. I would definitely come back to this event next year but maybe check out the different venues. Plus they had food trucks there. At this specific one they had seabirds, piaggio on wheels, frysmith, a bbq tent, and a steamed bun tent. Great event and it's nice to meet vendors who are passionate about what they do. Most vendors have etsy accounts set up but when you come to the craft fairs they tend to give you a little discount plus you don't have to pay shipping at these events... SCORE!!!! read more

Wonderful. I saw so many things I wanted to buy. Be sure to get a card or name of buyer. I've been unable to track down a couple I was planning to buy from later. Purses, quilts, handmade soaps, felt succulents, scarves, amazing leather work, vintage clothing, upcycled books, glazed pottery. I did buy some hand glazed mugs which were large and beautiful for only $10 each. Also, 2 necklaces with polished stones and I have no idea her name, bummer. Will definitely try the Santa Ana location in the fall. read more

I love this festival. This was the second time I've attended... and I am hoping to become a vendor at the holiday one later this year. This time I brought my husband, and he said that he thought it was a "sewing festival" until we got there... lol! Once he realized that they were showcasing a wide range of local handcrafted items, he was more into it. Patchwork seems a little more homegrown than the other festivals. I love the artists they get, and you can find everything from jewelry to clothing to art/prints to dolls, etc. I made some purchases that I will treasure & collected some cards for future purchases of gifts & more. i love the Patchwork Festival! it's a wonderful lil craft fair and each year I always come across new crafters that I just absolutely fall in love with. i never walk away empty handed! i have to admit i prefer the Santa Ana location over the Long Beach one only b'coz Santa Ana seems to house more vendors! I seem to be in and out of Long Beach with an hour. But despite that, i still attend both, b'coz you never know which vendors will be at what events! They don't always sign up to appear at all of them... so why take your chances and miss out, right?? The Long Beach location is a great spot beside the marina... there's a parking lot and plenty of street parking down the residential streets if you don't mind walking. read more

My family and I stumbled upon this craft fair while at the Farmers Market down the street and were so delighted that we found it. I just wish I hadn't of blown most of my budget at the market. There were so many awesome one of a kind things to purchase clothes, jewelry, art, and they even had charities and food trucks. The parking was free and conveniently accessible, and the venue was pretty large with several booths, and they even had a free photo booth with props to capture the memory. I love craft fairs -- mostly because I like to pick up interesting (though usually fairly expensive) jewelry and prints that are unique. This time, however, I left without either. Although both my friend and I used GPS to arrive, we found ourselves on different ends of the event, which was strange and frustrating. Once we found each other, we took a stroll around. I thought the festival was going to be larger, and we walked through the entire thing twice, just to give ourselves the sense that we had thoroughly perused every stall. I did see one pair of earrings that sparked my interest, but I wasn't wowed enough to shell out the cash. My friend bought two jars of locally-source honey, and we both picked up some flavored walnuts -- chocolate espresso and banana. Since we bought six bags of nuts (together), we were given these cute totes that read, "Stop staring at my nut sack!" I thought that was funny, and we had a few chuckles when we saw the phrase. I'm wondering if I should bring it to school -- it would make the kids laugh, but it seems somewhat inappropriate. Lol. I didn't get anything else, but my friend got a lobster roll and a ginger beer from one of the trucks. Actually, there were quite a few people walking around with ginger beer. It seemed to be rather popular. We had a nice time strolling around the vendors, but it would have been great if there was more to see and buy. I loved how parking was free and accessible and how dogs were welcome to join. I didn't bring my own pooches, because I thought they would be too much to handle, but in the end I decided it would have been fine. Maybe next year. read more

I'll start by saying that I love shopping for unique items. I spend a lot of time and money on etsy.com. I enjoy going out of my way to find one-of-a-kind gifts for both my friends *and* myself. For some reason this event left me with the feeling of "meh." It was the right size (not overwhelmingly large, not too small), seemed well organized, and was in a great location, but the sellers just weren't speaking to me -- both literally and figuratively. When all is said and done, I did purchase a pair of pretty earrings. It was a nice afternoon outting with some friends, but I don't think I would go out of my way to visit again. Run, run, run to the Patchwork Festival!! There is something cool for everyone, man, woman and child. All of the vendors are super innovative and unique... everything handcrafted and made with love. My husband was blown away by what people think of to recycle and make use of to create their beautiful works of art. There was also great food, drink and AWESOME bands playing!
