This area has a lot of dance studios but what drew me to Shanon's is that she has a heart of gold and treats everyone with courtesy and respect. Her warm demeanor, pride in her studio, and care for her students and their parents really shine through in every interaction I have with her. She is also a true professional who is quick to reply to any emails with any questions I may have. Just as importantly, Shanon's Dance Academy students are under the tutelage of the fabulous Ms. Martha. Under Ms. Martha's firm, no-nonsense approach, my kids have really improved in their dancing skills over the past year and their love of dance has only grown. And although Ms. Martha doesn't coddle her students, she possesses the necessary balance between being tough and gentle at the same time. She treats my kids and all dancers with dignity so that when she gives them constructive criticism, they actually want to improve and work hard to do so. Shanon and Ms. Martha are a real team and they put on an amazing end-of-the-year recital each June that my entire family looks forward to. My kids have been in two recitals so far and the recital experience is one that I really feel has been a positive in their development. I was assigned to Marjaun as my professional dance partner. From beginning to end, the entire process of working with Marjaun was wonderful. I was in a lot of pain from dealing with my treatment, but he inspired me so much that I pushed through. Our dance on the night of the show was FIRE, and I was proud of myself for learning something new. Every person that works here is so warm and friendly. From the owners, to each dancer, they get to know you and take an interest in your success. I loved the free weekly group lessons and seeing people met each other there after work for lessons. It just infuses energy into your day when you put those shoes on and grab your partner's hand. I would encourage anyone interested in adding fun to their life to head to Fred Astaire. Jazzercise offered the whole month of May FREE for anyone brave enough to give this awesomely (yes…read moreI know that's not a word) fun form of exercise a try. Wow! It seemed too good to be true but there really was no catch! I was surprised more people didn't take advantage of this. I myself invited several friends and only convinced two to try one class each with me. One of them signed up immediately and so did I. :) All of the locations were wonderful but this one was the most convenient and lucky for me, is one of the most beautiful locations and has some of the most awesome instructors! My mom owned a dance studio in the 80s and I taught dance for several years in Macomb Illinois so I'm always craving some form of dance but can never afford classes. Jazzercise offered an awesome package for the summer that was very affordable and well worth it! Being an 80s girl, I am very familiar with aerobics, as I used to teach. Nothing gets you into shape faster! You find out you have muscles you did not know existed! And man is it fun! If you are like me and you just can't muster up the inspiration to go to a gym by yourself, this is the answer! There are at least six or seven other women in each class I've taken, so you are comforted to know that there are others suffering with you. Ha ha! It is hard work but the instructors make it fun and there is a sense of sisterhood in all the classes that just can't be beat. The music is current and there is enough variety in the movement to keep you from thinking about the fact that you're whipping your body into shape. They offer several different types of classes ranging from full out dance routines to classes focused on strengthening muscles, where the instructors sometimes use weights, balls, rubber bands, etc. I highly recommend it for anyone who has trouble finding the inspiration to work out. The comradery of the instructors and the class members helps keep you accountable and they offer games with prizes to inspire you to come more often. Come check it out! You won't regret it and your body will love you for it!

The work out srudio is a good size with a small stage for the instructor to stand on so everyone can see. Its a high energy class which gets your whole body moving.
