We just returned home after one of the worst dinners I have ever had. We were celebrating an early birthday for my husband with my two kids and three grandchildren. We arrived at the restaurant at 5:30 and ordered drinks and appetizers. After they were brought to the table, we ordered our meals. An hour and a half later, we still did not have our food. Our server then came to the table to apologize and tell us that they no longer had boiled crawfish, which both my son and daughter had ordered. In the time that we were waiting for our food (well over an hour), many peopled arrived and were served crawfish before we received ours. In fact, they served three trays of crawfish to customers who arrived after us at the same time they were telling us that there were no more. My son and daughter decided not to order a new meal as we were told that the remaining food was almost ready. This was, in fact, a lie as we waited an additional 30 minutes for our food to arrive. It was finally delivered to our table over 2 hours after we had arrived at the restaurant. We boxed the meals and left. It was apparent that our food order was never placed or lost in the kitchen. When my husband asked to see a manager, he was directed to the "assistant manager." She brought us a minimal gift card in light of the fact that our bill was $250! Thank you..We have not had any good options for Lobster rolls on the Northshore or even the Southshore, until now...I will admit to being a snob when it comes to this traditional New England dish. Pat does an excellent job here, using Maine lobster NOT Caribbean. The bun is buttered & grilled to perfection. The waitress said it would be more New England style, cold, Mayo-salad based. However, I was pleasantly surprised that it came out more Connecticut style, warm & buttery. We came on Saturday March 22 for my daughters birthday. The portions were extremely small. I got the shrimp platter and my husband got the fish and shrimp platter. The food runner accidentally mistook the fish and shrimp for the shrimp platter bc that's how small the fish was on the plate. We couldn't even see the fish. We stopped here for an afternoon drink and appetizers. The oysters are great but the atmosphere is what makes this place fantastic. It is a great renovation of a historic building that the lakefront needed. Came here on a Sunday at 4:30, I did make reservations because we had a party of 6. We were seated as soon as the table was cleaned, we were seated outside under the speaker, we asked the manager to turn the volume down and she said no problem, she was great! We ordered drinks at the bar, and a dozen oysters and some hush puppies. The oysters were huge and delicious we had them charbroiled. Our friends ordered the cup of gumbo, they said it was bland and the cup was only filled halfway on both orders. Our entrees were really good! I was skeptical because of some of the reviews, also the waitress said they ran out of several items. The pork chop was huge and cooked perfectly, all of the fish dishes were cooked perfectly and were so flavorful and tasty! We'll definitely be back and the weather was beautiful. read more

I had been recommending this place to everyone, and now I won't be going back. I gave my rating a star because the location and outdoor view are great. But I couldn't have been more disappointed in the food this time. The last time I dined here months ago, the shrimp poboy was fabulous. The prices have gone up, but that's not why I'm complaining. Two in my group ordered shrimp poboys. I ordered mine with the shrimp extra crispy. It's just like with most places -- they tell you they can do that, and then the kitchen COMPLETELY IGNORES your request. But fine -- I can live with that. However, a $17 poboy now consists of one 6" sandwich cut in half. There were two tiny pieces of sandwich which shouldn't have even been cut. I could have held it better. The waitress put the "poboys" in front of us as if we wouldn't notice that we each received half a sandwich. I simply couldn't believe it. But that's not actually the worst of it. The few small shrimp on both sandwiches were very undercooked, even for someone not ordering them crispy. The bread was not even traditional loaf French bread! It was one of those individual "loaves" right out of the bag, not heated whatsoever. Seriously?? Lettuce and tomato were almost nonexistent, not that there was much room for them anyway. It was actually the worst shrimp sandwich I've ever had, anywhere. The sweet potato fries were good, but again, it was a VERY small portion. The third person in our group ordered shrimp and corn bisque. It was tasty, but it did not contain ONE shrimp. Seriously?? This was an entirely disappointing meal. I left hungry. If I hadn't had a guest there, I would have complained to the manager. They should be ASHAMED to serve a tiny 6" poboy on a narrow piece of untoasted bread for $17. It was pitiful. Finally, my visit was on a GORGEOUS, breezy day. The view was GREAT. It was so peaceful -- except for the numerous loud FANS buzzing directly over our heads. Did I mention it was already breezy that day?? There was no need for fans to be on, much less several on every post. Apparently, the person in charge doesn't have enough common sense to turn the fans off when there is a strong breeze blowing in off the lake. I will never go back. There are too many other good options. Maybe there is a reason half the tables were empty during lunch on a beautiful day. Fried onion rings are PERFECT and seasoned very well. Crab boil red potatoes are a bit spicy and a very large serving. The Caesar salad was enjoyable and large. We waited outside for a while, and after about 20 minutes we go inside to see what's going on. They are seating party after party. I went up and asked what's going on. My dad and I were looking for the right place to fit my giant family for my graduation celebration. I called Rest a While and they suggested a private room. It was absolutely perfect! The coordinators were easily accessible and their attention to detail was impressive. The room was perfect. My family was able to mingle and have drinks before lunch. My nephew had room to run around and play while everyone ate. The waitresses were kind, professional, and willing to help us in any way they could. The restaurant recently opened. The building is beautiful inside and out. There is an outdoor bar area with outdoor seating. There is also outdoor restaurant seating. The service was very good, and the food came out quickly. The shrimp appetizer at $14 was tasty, but there were not many shrimp on the plate. We were a table of two and we both wished there were more. The 10 ounce NY Strip came with mashed potatoes for $30. The presentation was underwhelming. A few green beans on the plate certainly would have looked a lot better. The steak was cooked properly and had a delicious taste, but the quality of the cut did not match the price. The swordfish was a nice size and came with a small amount of corn maque choux and topped with some very thin, crunchy potato shoestrings. The presentation was so nice that I took a picture. The cheesecake was also very good. If I could have, I would have given 3.5 stars due to the cost. This is a casual restaurant with no tablecloths and paper napkins. Our bill including tax and tip was $122. I am not sure we will return due to the high cost of the food. A little on the spendy side for what you get, but lake front location to be expected. Oysters were good both raw and charbroiled. Staff was great! Liberty was very nice! We made a reservation for 12 people to celebrate my son's first communion this past Saturday. The staff went above and beyond for us. Our server, Alex, was very accommodating to our out of town guests to give them a sample of daiquiris and charbroiled oysters. He was extremely attentive when taking orders, delivering food, and insisted on a photo shoot on the front porch of our group and lastly cut/served the communion cake like a pro. The food was flavorful and fresh-no one left a morsel on their plates! I loved the view of the lakefront and will definitely be back again for many other celebrations. Was looking forward to a post Mother's Day lunch and figured this would be the place. I was TOTALLY WRONG! I ordered the double cut pork chop; it was tough and chewy. I had to send it back. My seafood gumbo and potato salad were good. That was my meal. Husband ordered ribeye. Hard to mess that up. I think fries were frozen. Bananas foster bread pudding wasn't anything great. Ice tea was watered down-tasteless. Extremely disappointed in our experience! With Pat's reputation, it should have been amazing. We will never return!
